Guys, I have a question. There is Divinity: Original Sin in works which is basically a prequel 100 years before DD. Then, we have Dragon Commander which is basically pre-prequel with the setting tousands of years before DD. But, is there a real sequel planned in the near future? (Divinity 3) which would end up Damian story?

I'm getting the impression Swen is saving Divinity 3 for his "very big RPG that will dwarf them all."

Just got this game.

Pretty good stuff. No quest compasses, no level scaled enemies, some decent humor, pretty good music as well.

You can definitely enable a quest marker to tell you where to go. :M

I'm pretty sure he said it won't be Divinity related at all, but I might be remembering wrong.

Ignoring that, I am done with my DD2 rental.

Something about the game just... didn't draw me in. Oh well. I got that same feeling when playing Arcanum too.

GOG.com has the Divinity series up on special offer: http://af.gog.com/divinity?as=1649904300

I got the first game free with my Witcher 2 pre-order, and I heard Beyond Divinity isn't very good. But how is Divinity II? I'm interested in story, choices and consequences, and exploration. Who has played it and what is it like on those fronts?

Story is decent, I suppose. Larian writes some entertainingly funny dialogue, though. There's a few lite C&C, but nothing long lasting and nothing in terms of the main quest.

Exploration is pretty good, though the loot is randomized so it can get somewhat lame, plus expect to destroy many a barrel.

I enjoyed it. Not really a favorite, but it was a good time killer.

I've been reading through this thread and it seems a bit like Gothic 3 actually. I know that many Codexers hate G3, but I thought it was addictive running around the world killing, picking up things and getting XP, while being original enough to not be a Diablo clone. Anyway, I've got the Developer's Cut, which won't be out until the 18th, so I'll download the first game and give it a try.

I'd say the C&C can be pretty good if you count the expansion.

Eat the tomato or save the tomato?

Friendly necromancer who will bind the soul of an innocent and give you rewards or doing "what's right"?

Kill Richard? Kill Seekers? KILL THE FARMER!?

And of course that total fucking copout at the end. To Berengar or not to Berengar? Go ahead, follow the course with the genocidal maniac whispering voice in your head. SEE WHAT HAPPEN.

Divinity II is kind of broken but it's such a great game nonetheless. The music is great, the atmosphere and visuals are surprisingly good despite the clunky engine, the dialogue is frequently quite entertaining and there are a lot of funny/silly side-quests - the expansion has even more of these little things, I haven't laughed at a game so much in a long time. Even if the combat kinda sucks, the dragon stuff sucks, the exploration isn't great, etc. it's still impossible for me not to love the game just because of all the charm and charisma it has.

This was extremely retarded if you ask me. Why the fuck didn't Berengar offer you his tool of mass destruction way before you had to do 10 hours of busy work to get to Behrlin's tomb? Ffs.

That's exactly how I feel - there are some shortcomings (the Gamebryo engine clunkiness annoyed me the most), but the overall tongue-in-cheek feel of the game is very refreshing. It's like a parody of generic fantasy RPGs in the form of a generic fantasy RPG.

Because he's under assumption you willingly work for Behrlin? Also because he's an insane fuckwad? Sounds like a legitimate reason for a major misunderstanding.

Behrlin (bad merlin?) even mentions that he never understood why, of all of his many enemies, Berengar hated him so much -- which makes sense, I guess. Despite how chaotic and crazy Berengar is he ultimately appreciates that sometimes somethings are just too evil.

And, I think, the consequence is not so diabolical that you are completely boned, while simultaneously keeping the question of WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TRUST A GENOCIDAL ARCH MAGE WHO EXPLICITLY STATES HE WANTS TO ANNIHILATE EVERYONE AND IS A MEMBER OF THE BLACK RING?

I bought this game for $5 when it was on sale a couple of weeks ago, played it for about 15 hours, then uninstalled. The combat is as popamole as you can possibly get... no strategy at all, just pres butan.

Some of you liked this turd? I'm shocked.

Hey niggas, what does dragon transformation look like in DD2? Do you just glow and voila, you are a dragon? Or is it like Shadowcaster, with proper shapeshifting animation?

And please don't post a youtube video, I can't access it (Pakiland)

Uh-huh. I'm genuinely interested to hear opinions from anyone who feels that the combat in this game isn't popamole, though.

It is. Combat is also half baked with no real system of blocking, parrying, etc. It's why I quit playing the game despite the many things it did well.

Like Swen himself said, the series has fans DESPITE and not because of the combat. Don't let that stop you from being edgy.
