Yeah, I've noticed that most EA games released on GOG don't come with the expansion packs. What's up with that?

Anyway, thanks.

Last I heard it was either licensing issues or compatibility issues but I don't recall an official statement being made about this...

Yeah, it's most likely some legal mumbo jumbo including EA, Bullfrog and some third party that they probably licensed fonts from or something stupid like that.

Also I don't know about the version from GoG, but vanilla DK1 had this awful bug that turned AI keepers completely brainded at lolrandom meaning they wouldn't do shit apart from attracting few weak creatures. This got fixed with Deeper Dungeons.

DK1 is patched to version 1.1 on GOG. What was the software version of the game you played?

I'm not sure. I played DK1 initially when it went out and it had this bug, can't remember the version. Much later when I wanted to replay it I got the version with Deeper Dungeons and the bug was fixed. Made a quick google search but could not find patch notes for 1.1 so don't know if it fixed that.

AFAIR (that was a long time ago), AI was fixed in 1.1 Patch.

Code:
Patch Details:

- Enhanced computer player A.I.
- Improved computer-assistant logic
- Creature re-balancing
- Streamlined creature-activity algorithms
- Additional game-save security

Pharoah is as anti-decline as you can possibly get. The whole thing is immense and complex. Some accuse it of having a tedious amount of micro-management, but its only because the designers didn't want you to be able to sit back and relax until right at the very end of each level. When I first got the game, years ago, I played it with my brother and got pretty far in, I think we had just started building limestone pyramids when something like Windows XP came along and broke it. It works fine now, though, you just need to set it to compatibility mode, run it as adminstrator, someone has even made a widescreen patch if that's your thing (http://www.wsgf.org/dr/pharaoh/en). I'd definitely recommend buying it if city-building games are your thing.

I haven't played any of the other Impressions games although I did buy Caesar III when it was on sale a few months ago. Right now I just want to complete Pharoah, it is maddening but seeing your city work to perfection is worth it.

Also Alan Wake American Nightmare...

... and not worth buying, imho. I just finished it recently, and that was a strangely... "disconnected" experience. Very un-alan wake'ish and solidly uninspiring. Both original DLC (mind you, they very short, but nevertheless...) had more content than entire three multiply by three chapters of AW AN.

Whoah, why didn't anyone tell me about the Blackwell games earlier? About halfway through episode 1 and already feel that I've gotten my 10 dollars worth. It's pretty darn railroaded, but the inclusion of the Discworld Noir clue-combination system is great and the basic premise seems to hold a lot of promise - especially since there's clearly a lot of things about your family history you will need to discover before working out why that blue fuck is following you around.

Looking at the geoscape...
What are the chances of Wizardry 8 coming to GOG? I bought a 3-disc retail boxed copy from eBay like 7-8 years ago and then sold it for 400% profit about a year later. (GREED IS GUD!) In retrospect I should have kept it. Anywho, I remember having some good times with the game and thinking things are only going to get better in the CRPG realm and now.... can't wait for W8 to become on available on GOG or some equivalent shit. :(

I doubt it will happen, some shitty Jap company (Aeria?) bought the Wizardry license. I have no idea if this includes past titles but it could complicate things and is probably not something they want to hassle with.

Ultima and Wing Commander titles 50% off. Ultima 7 COMPLETE (U7+Black Forge + Serpent Isle + Silver Seed) for $3 = crazy deal.

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere, but there are game-titles sprinkled in the Colonization pictures. So far I have spotted Loom, Wasteland, System Shock 2 and Diablo.

I bought Ultima 7 Complete and both Ultima Underworlds. I'm not sure if my brother has all the stuff the Complete Edition of Ultima 7 has, and I went for both Underworld games for the convenience factor of not having to find the disks or CDs of the games.

Are there any keyboard shortcuts or general tips for Ultima VII/VIII? I remember my cousin playing these games, but I have yet to try them. So far the interface seems like a jumbled mess while I hunt for the town murderer or whatever. I entered a blacksmithing home and a deep laugh mocked me but I have no idea what that meant. I have to admit I'm more interested in the eighth game as the story and one-character's travels seem more interesting to me.

What shortcuts are you needing? As for tips (if you are using DOSBox) NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER FLY THE CARPET OVER THE ISLE OF THE AVATAR. And WALK TO MINOC. DO NOT GO THERE BY ANY OTHER MEANS. WALK ONLY THERE.

All of the horrible game breaking bugs are fixed using Exult however some people have reported some items disappearing and other odd problems. I have never once experienced these problems however. See my guide.

Did you even watch the intro?

Ultima VIII is awesome. Fuck the haters. It certainly has it weaknesses though.
