JudasIscariot I've just heared the news about the Rise of Nations IP being sold and I was thinking, is there a chance for GOG to acquire the game? I would throw my money at you if I could purchase it on GOG.
I don't know, way over my head. Speaking for myself, I wouldn't mind us having that IP but what would we, as a company, do with it? We're just a distributor

There's a rule against distributors owning IP?
I was surprised that Realms of the Haunting's installer is a whopping 1.4 GB. Isn't that extreme for a game from 1996?
Would have been a 2 cd game, and it would have had different levels of installers where it would leave data on the cd that you would load as you got to it.Bought Aarklash:Legacy since it was 50% off and Realms of the Haunting since it coming up soon on my play list.

Actually it was on 4 CDs. I know this because I have the original jewel case in front of my as I type this.
Phantasmogoria (1995) held the record for "title using most CDs" for the longest time, with seven. But Sierra did a slightly clever thing there by repeating data on them, therefore saving on the disc swapping. The X-Files game only tied it 3 years later.
...actually, I can't think of a title that came on more than 7 CDs.
How is Might & Magic 8? Reactions seem to be mixed, mostly around the graphics being dated and the game being easier than previous entries.
I can add nothing to this, so I'll just requote it in its entirety. It's built on the same engine as MM6 and 7 with minor improvements graphics-wise (the engine was already dated when MM7 came out, hence the disappointment of many people). It's a rushed, scaled-down, dumbed-down version of the previous two games - and yeah, it's pretty easy to break it through acquiring endless money and easy-to-get overpowered characters. It's not completely horrible, though, it still scratches that M&M itch - I played it again just recently and had fun, but if you haven't played MM6 and 7 (not to mention the older titles in the series), I'd definitely recommend playing those first as they are unquestionably better. How is Might & Magic 8?
