So Codex, new weekend promo at gog.com again. Games for the thinking gamer. Is there anything codexers would recommend from that list? I already have all the age of wonders games, though i might buy the first one because my current copy of it is a backup and i love that game to death so might aswell get legit copy.

Also is there ANYONE on the codex who would say getting the witcher promo is worth my time and money. I am quite unsure when it comes to those games as ive never been too interested in the witcher series.
It's a pretty inclined list. King of the Dragon Pass is great. Expeditions: Conequistador is good, FTL is interesting and good, @Multi-headed Cow loves him some Zafehouse.

Battle Realms is also worth getting if you can get past its horribad interface. It has some very unique features which make it stand out from the rest of the RTS clones out there.

I'll vouch for FTL, super addictive to me but can be frustrating if you don't like getting your ass kicked when the universe deals you a bad hand. I loved Nexus, never played anything quite like it, wish they'd make another. Great if you like commanding big ships and configuring fighters and managing weapons, energy system and the like, then go for it.

As to the Witcher there's a million posts on the topic, some like it, some don't. I fall in the latter camp. It seemed like it had potential while going through tutorial but it quickly became boring for me after playing the actual game for awhile. Didn't come close to finishing it.

Man, that game. Why the hell was it so overlooked? Because Warcraft 3 pretty much steamrolled the RTS scene at the time?

Grab the Codex by the pussy Divinity: Original Sin Torment: Tides of Numenera Shadorwun: Hong Kong Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath I'm very into cock and ball torture
GOG.com hooked me in again. I finally broke down and purchased Overlord for the lulz when I complete the Thief series, and Wizardry 6-8 since they were on sale and I figure I'll get to 6+7 sometime when I feel like a blobber again. I played Wiz 8 awhile back, but it's good to have a copy in case I ever want to finish up the series with whatever Wiz 6+7 characters I decide to make.

I came pretty close to getting Battle Realms, too, since I like strategy games and it has a high rating. However, it looks like it's an RTS-style game in the tradition of C&C and Warcraft, but I'm pretty sick of that genre, so I refrained for now.

WING COMMANDER ACADEMY released on GOG: http://af.gog.com/game/wing_commander_academy?as=1649904300

I hope they bring Armada too.

http://www.wcnews.com/news/2013/08/11/but-wait-there-s-more

We are pleased to announce that we have confirmed with Electronic Arts that they have licensed four more Wing Commander games to GOG! Academy, Armada, The Darkening and Prophecy should be available through the service later this year, completing the PC run of the series. Proof positive that it will be an amazing year for Wing Commander!

Is there a way to let the WC series look less ugly? I tried to play Strike Commander but it's unplayable for me on modern day monitors and resolutions. It hasn't aged well at all.

Damn, Chaos Engine, that's just such a good game. Gameplay, graphics, sound, feeling, all interwoven like they only managed in the 90ies.

In that case, no thank you. I usually only buy at GoG if it offers me something Steam doesn't. I'm not taking a game with cut features simply because it's DRM free.
