Deuce Traveler
2012 Newfag
I had a good chuckle. I guess the Steam folks don't screen their photos like one might think.
Well, I buckled down and made my GOG purchase. Since I already had Stacking, Primordia, Torchlight and the Blackwell Bundle I whittled the choices down to these:
- Dyad: It caught my eye and had some high ratings. It looks quite different from any game I've tried, so I'm pretty curious about it.
- Sword of the Stars- The Pit: This was a no brainer. I really love rogue-like games and have been looking at it for awhile. It's probably the biggest reason I jumped on the sale. I need a rogue-like game that I can pick up and play a little here and a bit there between tasks. This should do nicely.
- Driftmoon: It looks like a casual RPG, and the general 'Dex consensus is that it's not great, but it has some charm. Looks like something one can play over a weekend. Thanks for the suggestion, JudasIscariot.
- Strike Suit Zero: I'm a sucker for space sims, and I need a reason to try out my controller that's collecting dust. Will probably play after I finish my Freespace games I also purchased from GOG.
- The Cat Lady: This was the last and toughest choice, but I took a closer look at it after the suggestion from Coyote. Ultimately, I grabbed it since it looked twisted, had decent ratings, and Halloween is coming and I'll probably try to finish it in October along with Costume Quest. The Cat Lady just squeaked by Zafehouse Diaries and Signal Ops.
Close, but no cigar...
- Almost went with Zafehouse Diaries, but I am so burnt out on the zombie genre that I didn't pick it. I'm sorry Zafehouse, but it's not you that's the problem, it's me. Keep in touch, okay?
- I wanted to pick up another RPG or two, but Evoland and Anodyne seemed too much of jRPG console retreads for me to make the purchase. If I ever want to play another JRPG, I'm more likely to get an emulator and try some of the ones I missed that have more than 15 hours of game play like the Dragon Quest series, Super Mario RPG, or Final Fantasy 6.
- Almost went with Signal Ops, but it sounds like some people find the interface frustrating. Thanks, though tuluse.
Oh, and this is my 1000th RPGCodex post. I only mention it because it's really a dual accomplishment. I've made it this far without getting banned. The sky is the limit.
