In that case, no thank you. I usually only buy at GoG if it offers me something Steam doesn't. I'm not taking a game with cut features simply because it's DRM free.

Steamworks offers cheap online features for developers. If consumers want those games in offline DRM free versions, they are going to lost the Steamworks features. Makes sense.

Everyone has different priorities.

Yeah, I get that. It's just that for this game they really shouldn't have gone with Steamworks for MP. It's cheap, yeah, but MP seems a pretty big aspect of this game and getting it DRM free doesn't make up for the hassle of not having online MP.

In the end I guess it's as you, it depends on what the buyer's priorities are.

Someone gifted me a copy on Steam, sadly this game runs slower than ARMA2 and Rise of flight on my computer.

Not sure how these amateurs managed to screw up such a simple port but there you go.

Maybe it has something to do with shoddy Steamworks integration and the version sold by Gog runs smooth as shit from a duck's ass...

What annoys me about the remake is that from the videos it appears to use the same colours as the AGA version, which is garish when compared to the more subtle colour tones of the original.

The original OCS version.

The AGA version.

Also is there a way to have the original sound of the musics?

"Relive the classic 90’s Richard Joseph soundtrack"

Is that not accurate? I'm not that familiar with the original game but the music in the trailer is not representative of the in-game music.

There are no options to speak of you can switch between classic and modern graphics (alt+e) and switch between fullscreen and windowed mode but that's about it.

It's not even possible to adjust sound and music levels or to change the resolution...

It is however possible to send a "tweet" saying you're playing the game! According to posts on the Steam forum doing this causes the game to crash.

It deals with mature themes but not in a mature way. Most obvious part is Nimdoc's nazi doctor past where the nazis are again shown as the cartoony Indiana Jones villains who do nothing but horrible things like experimenting on people (and then only Jews!). Not many games depict the Holocaust, and I know this one took some flak for it, but it doesn't do anything with it and stays at a cartoony levely. The same goes with Ellen rape story and how she's afraid of the colour yellow because she was *gasp* raped by a man wearing yellow! It's in the same league as old thrillers like Vertigo or Secret Behind the Door that used dubious pseudo-psychiatry to push the story forward and explain the motivation of some characters.

Then again Ellison was never too subtle. After finally playing that game a few years ago I found it funny that he adapted one of his better stories—because it is short and not so over-the-top as his other stuff—into this game that regroups everything that's bad about his work. Plus his hammy and unintentionally funny opening monologue is a good hint of what to expect right from the start.

System Shock 2 is 75% off today ($2.49), which sure was enough to convince me to buy it. Now I'll just have to decide if I'll ever finish the original game or just skip it.

Also, there's an "indie" promo: Pick 5 Games & Save 80%
Sadly, I already own most of the games worth owning on that list (which are quite few; if I had to pick, I'd take The Blackwell bundle, Primordia, Amnesia, The Penumbra Collection and probably The Cat Lady).

Well I followed Aurelius's advice, since I only own Torchlight from that promo bundle. Hopefully those games are as good as they seem :)

I'm struggling to find five games there I have heard of, let alone want to own. I've tried to stop buying indie shit I'll never play too, as a rule.

I'm struggling to find five games that I don't already own on Steam or gog.com and that aren't utter shit. I get to three if I'm generous.

Edit: Finally bought SS2 though, so all's well.

Damn it GOG! (Throws money at the screen...)
I also purchased System Shock 2 during the 50% sale, but it was awesome and worth the price. Definitely recommend.

For the 80% off sale I already have Torchlight, Primordia, and the Blackwell Bundle, none of which I've gotten around to finishing. I also got Stacking on Steam, but haven't played it yet either.

Out of the remaining games for sale, I'm thinking about picking up Strike Suit Zero, Driftmoon, Sword of the Stars: The Pit (been waiting for a GOG sale on this since I prefer it to Steam), and Dyad. Anyone want to convince me otherwise? Any suggestions about what I should pick up as the fifth game? I was thinking of grabbing Anodyne because I like the idea behind the game, but the reviews are pretty lackluster.

Signal Ops is a really unique game, I only have 1 hour in it so far though, so it might completely fall apart.

Zafehouse Diaries is supposed to be really good.

Zafehouse Diaries is fairly popular around here. I haven't tried it yet myself, but there's an LP if you want to check it out.

I've just started The Cat Lady, and it's an interesting game so far, though I would recommend checking out some reviews first. Lots of things (depressed protagonist, weird montage-style graphics, unusual controls and extremely basic adventure game mechanics) that I could see being a major turnoff for some people.

I can definitely recommend Driftmoon and SOTS: The Pit. I haven't played the rest of the games as I don't have a joystick/flightstick (Strike Suit Zero) and I am not into those music racing games so much (Dyad).

Driftmoon I can recommend as it's one of those indies where a lot of love and attention to detail was poured into it and it shows. There's all sorts of dialogue that puts certain AAA games to shame, it's not grimdark and doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a bit light on the stats side and the combat isn't turn-based but it's pretty decent and you can set the game to adventure mode where you can minimize the combat somewhat. At the price it's going for now, it's a damn steal :D

SOTS: The Pit, for me, is the very essence of digital crack. I've got over 200 hours on the game and I haven't grown bored of it. Sure, it's not as hard core as some of the free roguelikes such as DCSS or Nethack but it's still got its own charm. On top of that, it was made despite the fact that the initial indiegogo campaign wasn't all that successful (yes, I realize the campaign was a flex funding campaign but still....). Another cool feature is that when you're not near any enemies it gives you the feeling of being real-time with turns in the background and only amps up the turn-based mode when there are enemies nearby.

Yes, I know I am biased as being a GOG employee but I do play some of the games we have on offer :D

I would guess that Night Dive Studios is responsible for submitting screenshots to Steam?
While you guys make screenshots for the website yourself.
