You never replay games you finished? I do all the time.
That said I think I quit around where you did. I was younger and had little patience. Also game isn't that good IMO (fuck off!).

I did it before my library went into the sky (not to mention digital download collection) so quoting my character from Silent Storm " Wish I could, but that's not gonna happen".
Of course sometimes I do it like your attempt with Stonekeep - to check if this game keep good after last time (years back, usually in my case). Then play few hours and remove.

Mac users:

We have updated the Mac installer for the original Fallout. This updated version now uses Wine instead of Boxer making it less resource heavy especially on older Macs :)

O.k. GOG has replied. That makes them better than other distribution sites. At least they talk. Credit where it's due :)
Now for the actual outcome of talks you'll have to wait, but I would say it's not going in the right direction.
In essence, GOG wants to distribute KotC but not BotS. My initial goal was more like the opposite.

(For reference, "BotS" is that RTS he made.)

Understandable. No offense, but nobody really cares about BotS whereas everybody knows KotC is a gem. A bundle deal might be your best bet.

You know, these days if you're an indie developer, being offered a distribution deal for any of your games is already a great boon. So if they want to distribute KotC, go for it, seriously! It's a chance not many developers get, and you know and I know and everybody knows your games deserve more publicity and sales. You can always convince them to distribute BotS later.

First off, VentilatorOfDoom, I would really appreciate it if you didn't come to my forum to tell me that no-one cares about one of my products (that's your warning). You have the point of view of the RPG player but that's not the only point of view out there. Being its creator, I obviously do care about BotS. Some RTS players may like BotS, in the same way that some readers may like my book. Your opinion is not the universal one and it's not the only one that matters.

In addition, anyone interested in seeing another game like KotC should care about BotS too, because the viability of any business depends on its sales. I've said it before, but I don't get paid anything for the humongous amount of work that KotC 2 requires. Financially, it does not make sense to do it. That's one of the reasons why I had to split the work between two games.

these days if you're an indie developer, being offered a distribution deal for any of your games is already a great boon.

This may seem at odds with what I've just said above, but money is not everything. If the relationship with the distributor is one where the distributor gets all decision power, and the developer gets none, then I'm not interested. That doesn't mean I won't do a deal for KotC alone or for both games. It's something I'll determine from talks with GOG, in my own time.

I would also very much dispute the idea that getting a distribution deal for any game is always a great boon. In any case, you're not in the position that I'm in, so you cannot make the assessment that only I can make as to whether a distribution deal would be good or not. Finally, I don't consider that it is particularly urgent for me to get any of my games on a distribution site. I hope that clarifies things. I am now locking this thread.

He's got the ego of a modder. :P

I got to talking to him by e-mail. He's a nice dude, but not without some quirks. He's pretty ardent about standing up for his RTS game even though KotC's potential is way bigger. I'm really not sure what KotC's sales are, but it seems like a very marketable game - especially for a site like GOG. I really don't get the thought process behind skipping an opportunity like that.

Funnily, I believe his intention for creating the RTS game was that he thought it was going to be more marketable than KotC (because real-time? I dunno), and now it looks like he can't accept the reality of it.

The people at gog.com must have the mentality of the RPG player as well

asspies gonna asspie, whatcha gonna do. He doesn't realize that his RTS is a complete piece of shit (and this is coming from a guy who actualy likes C&C clones), and that if he DOES manage to get a distribution deal for it his name will be forever stained as the creator of a sub-mediocre C&C clone. How can he hope to later convince anyone else to buy his much superior KOTC when his first debut on a digital distribution platform is a complete waste of money? It's no wonder GOG doesn't want to touch that shit even with a 10 foot pole.

EDIT: heck, if I were GOG i wouldn't even put it out for free, because that would be condescending towards my user base.

Oh good god. I was mildly curious what book he wrote.

You have the right to be taxed is a libertarian or classical-liberal outlook on Europe and the West, written by a European. It is partially about basic economics and partially about basic philosophy.

It examines the modus operandi of European welfare states and spends some time unwinding the myths that are propagated to ensure the persistence of the state as a virtually all-powerful provider. The book also examines the flaws of democracy and some possible remedies.

Knock-Knock is awesome! Buy it :P

Already done it!

Edit: heh, they got my money but didn't give me the game yet. First time it happens, so I sent them an email with the details of the Paypal receipt. I'm sure it'll be solved fast enough but it's annoying.

Edit²: heh, just got it now.
