Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Why would you even want a remake of the original Gothic? It's not like the original isn't playable.

Sure it's playable. Even stuff like Betrayal at Krondor which is 10 years older is still playable. But would I want BaK remade in the newest Cryengine by someone with absolutely no regards to commercial viability? Fuck yeah. 100x yeah. Same for Gothic or Arx Fatalis or Gabriel Knight 3 or other phenomenal old games from the dawn of 3D engines. As long as the old games remain on Steam or GoG no reason not to do it.

I need TONS of fan paths to run on M$ win 10.

Your choice of faction has no impact on the main quest and game world.

Your faction matters a lot on G1. My Templar and my magician experience was completely different. Your faction matters more in G2 because devs forced you to join then by no good reason. Why i can't steal good weapons without joining a faction with good weapons? Why Xardas who teaches circle 6 magic for me few weeks ago on G1 can't teach circle 1? And i need to join the monastery to be a mage?

We are talking G1 here. And the fact is, after chapter 1 the main quest (and even the side quests) continuously declines in quality.

No, i liked the MQ. There aren't many fetch quests on the MQ. Clear the The Minecrawler's Nest, find Focus stones, find Xardas, make the Ulu Mulu, go to sleeper's temple, etc everything is interesting.

There are all manner of fantastical creatures, wizard guilds, prophecies, divine artifacts and magic is powerful and has concrete rules.

I din't said that is a low magic setting, only that is not high magical setting as elder scrolls game or D&D.

Rare would be if there were only about 10 mages for the whole fucking planet, and they all lived in the furthest corners of the earth.

I din't said that is a low magical setting. Only that Gothic despite being higher magical setting than GoT and Conan is not a high magical universe as for eg elder scrolls.

But in the first game, a colony where the strongest magicians are stuck inside, how many magicians capable to using circle 4+ spells are in the game? Probably around 5. Xardas, Saturas, the highest mage of fire who can teaches circle 4, some Gurus on Swamp Camp... To kill Orcs with ease, you need at least circle 4.

As for scrolls, you can use scrolls as longs you have enough mana. Only G2 NotR made the cost too low for everyone.

Not really. The GOG version already comes with the 1.08k patch, and it's not very difficult to install it for the Steam version either.
Then install the Gothic 1/2 systempack to fix a bunch of different issues while running relatively fine on Windows 10, 1-2 small patches at most depending on where you buy it from.

I get that Steam makes everything painfully easy now, but this is one really isn't difficult to get running. PC Gaming Wiki already has all the links for you available too.

Considering every member of the clergy could read and write, that would mean that even the most remote, backwater village would have at least one person that could do magic.
That would definitively make the Gothic setting high fantasy, where mages are a part of normal everyday life.
You're being a bit generous.

Literate people were a very, very small segment of the total population. Some estimates go as low as "less than 5%". From these you have to substract all those literate people who were busy working as scribes in monsteries to make books. This leaves even less people to serve the illiterate nobles, meaning you could encounter them in cities and castles. But forget about them being more widespread than that (certainly not at the level of being present in "the most remote, backwater village"). Sure, they weren't miraculously rare, but rare enough. In Europe illiteracy was a serious deal even as close to our time as shortly after the WW2.

I don't think people living in a Spanish/Catalonian hipster city can get the Gothic vibe. I think even Poles from Warsaw would have problems.
u wut?...Poles (and Russians) are the only people you can trust with games these days

Gothic modding community should be enough evidence of that.

"Rare" is a relative term.

Imagine living during the medieval times. People who knew how to write and read were rare. I am going to assume Gothic goes for the same level of rarity, considering how mages were organized in Gothic I and II.

Considering every member of the clergy could read and write, that would mean that even the most remote, backwater village would have at least one person that could do magic.

Most medieval clergy couldn't read well. They quickly forgot how to read, because they were reading like only a few books, which lead to them memorizing them.

Maggot I don't remember what book I have taken this information from, it was long ago, but I remember that the Church tried to check the level of literacy of the average clergy, and it turned out that many of them forgot how to read properly, some were just pretending that they can read books used in liturgy. It's not like peasants can notice that something is wrong with the Latin in their services.

Gothic modding community should be enough evidence of that.

Not only that. While Western Europeans, Americans, Canadians, etc produce only decline, like SCL, and all decline in Gothic franchise(G4 - ArcaniA, Forsaken Gods, etc) Eastern Europeans produce inclines like PF:KM and even non RPG incline like Metro, Escape from Tarkov, etc.

They are just immune to any outside pressure from whining social groups. Russians especially.

I hate to break it to you, but Arcania was developed by G*rmans.
Meanwhile, Forsaken Gods was developed by Indians.

Doesn't make them any less shitty.

It doesn't make sense. There is 74% positive rating on steam, but if you apply "English only" setting it drops to 58%. Who is responsible for that? Spaniards or German?

People on steam are asking for woman. Woman exists on Gothic 1, but as toys/slaves from Gomez, Y'Berrion and other top guys who can pay a lot since in a penal colony there are far more man than woman and it makes sense. I wish that they implement a way to buy one. Only to cause butthurt with SJW's.

I said Poles from Warsaw (woke CDPR comes to mind). Of course Poles in general are very well suited to make a Gothic remake, the Ruhrpott is full of people with Polish names.

Why so few people is pointing out that insta teleport food/potions to your belly and a lv 0 charname surviving 5 BITES FROM A DRAGON SNAPPER, one of the deadliest G2 mobs is a awful idea?

latest

You without a decent weapon and good STR or a mostruous(60+) str, should't be able to even deal a damage on a snaper. What is the next? People burning fire mages with fire bolt circle 1 spell??

Someone got (glitched) through to the old camp, apparently. And other areas. Seems like the gameworld is mostly made.

And longer vid from another person:

Before the WWI around 0,5 million Poles lived in Ruhrpott (Ruhrpolen). Current estimates say that 150k out of 5000k are of polish descent in Ruhrgebiet. But you have also now the 2 million Poles that emigrated in the last 30 years in BRD and also at least 1 million before the 1980ies.
So around 3.3 million are polish and or of polish descent in germany.

This is not a full game. Its a playable teaser version to a potential approach for a new Gothic game. Nothing is set in stone.
Teaser - an advertising or promotional device intended to arouse interest or curiosity especially in something to follow.

I guess this shit will be released around 2022.

That castle from the video is only a quickly put up prop meant to be looked on from a distance. Assuming you already have textures, it would take less than 3 days for a modeler to make it. That Xardas tower should take like an hour. I try to teach myself blender, so I am pretty sure about those estimates, even if I still suck at it.

I feel like you don't look as cool and learned as you think you do when making wild development time estimates based solely on your experience "trying to learn Blender"

Not necessarily true. IIRC, Gothic 2 or Gothic 3 had food items that can be hotkeyed and used mid combat

Take seconds to use and drink the potion. Is not "i press a button and the potion content is insta teleported to my belly" and it is necessary because spells are too nerfed on G2.
