Why would you even want a remake of the original Gothic? It's not like the original isn't playable.
I need TONS of fan paths to run on M$ win 10.
Your choice of faction has no impact on the main quest and game world.
Your faction matters a lot on G1. My Templar and my magician experience was completely different. Your faction matters more in G2 because devs forced you to join then by no good reason. Why i can't steal good weapons without joining a faction with good weapons? Why Xardas who teaches circle 6 magic for me few weeks ago on G1 can't teach circle 1? And i need to join the monastery to be a mage?
We are talking G1 here. And the fact is, after chapter 1 the main quest (and even the side quests) continuously declines in quality.
No, i liked the MQ. There aren't many fetch quests on the MQ. Clear the The Minecrawler's Nest, find Focus stones, find Xardas, make the Ulu Mulu, go to sleeper's temple, etc everything is interesting.
There are all manner of fantastical creatures, wizard guilds, prophecies, divine artifacts and magic is powerful and has concrete rules.
I din't said that is a low magic setting, only that is not high magical setting as elder scrolls game or D&D.
Rare would be if there were only about 10 mages for the whole fucking planet, and they all lived in the furthest corners of the earth.
I din't said that is a low magical setting. Only that Gothic despite being higher magical setting than GoT and Conan is not a high magical universe as for eg elder scrolls.
But in the first game, a colony where the strongest magicians are stuck inside, how many magicians capable to using circle 4+ spells are in the game? Probably around 5. Xardas, Saturas, the highest mage of fire who can teaches circle 4, some Gurus on Swamp Camp... To kill Orcs with ease, you need at least circle 4.
As for scrolls, you can use scrolls as longs you have enough mana. Only G2 NotR made the cost too low for everyone.
