  • The hero eated in middle of combat. It makes no sense. On Gothic, if you wanna use potions/eat, you need to run to have time to use it.
Not necessarily true. IIRC, Gothic 2 or Gothic 3 had food items that can be hotkeyed and used mid combat

This isn't just "convenient hotkey for potions" which nearly all PB games have had, or even "use potion while moving" like how Risen 1 and beyond have had. In this abortion, you can open up the inventory mid-swing, which pauses the game, and spam healing items and watch as your HP increases all while paused, then resume the game. The fix for this is obvious and simple, but it's still there.

Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
WOW! Just played through this and had a B L A S T ! ! ! ! It's just like playing Gothic back in the day but with much much MUCH more graphics. Yeah, it's a little framey at times but it looks sooooooooooooo good! The combat is as amazing as always and this game doesn't fail to deliver on that end. I can't wait until they remake Gothic 3, my favourite Gothic game!

It doesn't make sense. There is 74% positive rating on steam, but if you apply "English only" setting it drops to 58%. Who is responsible for that? Spaniards or German?

Looked around, it look like it's everyone, but the English-speaking.

Polish: 718 reviews, 80%
German: 870 reviews, 72%
English: 1425 reviews, 58%
Russian: 1871 reviews, 82%
Spanish: 51 reviews, 92%

The UI for this is really shit, I've got to switch the language preferences for my account for each language to see the review score for each language.

These should be the users raging the hardest about this, not the other way around. I don't understand.

English is not my native language(you can see by my awful grammar in many posts), but when i write a review about Gothic, i try to write in English because i believe that will have more impact. I imagine that eastern europeans who din't liked the game are doing the same.

Talking about Spanish, i can understand a little of Rioplatense Spanish(not Mexican Spanish) but the Spanish option is the European Spanis, Argentine Spanish or Mexican Spanish?

Maybe it's just developers, not the population that is inclined in Eastern Europe?
:negative:
Gothic seems to be popular in Eastern Europe, so it could be that they're leaving positive reviews because they think that it will increase the chances of the remake being greenlit.

What do the reviews actually say?

Either way, very disappointed to see such a high percentage of players slobbing the knob of this travesty. I wish they wouldn't do this to Gothic. Just leave it alone. Wasn't Arcania: Gothic 4 enough?

Even worse is that this will ruin the chances of PB or a competent developer from doing a PROPER remake someday. This will be it for Gothic remakes, and we can already tell how unfortunately it will turn out.

Read the positive reviews, a lot of them want a Gothic remake but hope that the devs will change a lot about the game to make it more like Gothic.

I did. And the fact that they put this demo out in such a state indicates to me that the devs are not capable of seeing what was great about Gothic in the first place. In other words, a lost cause because these developers are not Gothic fans.

Those positive reviews with solid critiques are fabulously optimistic in the worst way, despite their good intentions.

My "optimistic Hypothesis". They know that Gothic 1 combat in 2021 will be severely criticized. RE2 had modernized combat and FF VII will have modernized RT combat(i still don't like FF), they don't know what to modernize and what not to, so they launched with every idea of modernization possible to see how people will react. If everyone is criticizing the combat, the spongee enemies, the heroic uncharted cutscenes, etc. Case this hypothesis is right, they will step back;

My "pessimistic hypothesis", they wanna please a wider audience(din't worked with arcania) and this teaser is to make all fan back lash go to gothic teaser and not the developed product. So they can pick the press A for awesome handholded BS.

I don't know what to think. I really wish that they will deliver a good game BUT i never saw a good "gothic game" made by a non PB studio. And even modern PB games, has things that i hate. Eg - Too few spells on Risen 3, cooldowns, the delayed ballet attacks...

Ahh you can't ruin gothic because it already exists,at worst we will get some new game larping as gothic. The nu thief didn't ruin the old ones.

When dark souls remaster got announced, prepare to die got removed in steam.

but we are getting jet packs, right?

Better than jet packs. Remember the wolves that kills you in half of a sec on G1? Who killed you many times when you tried to reach swamp camp? Instead of dangerous packs of animals from G1/G2/G3, now we have ArcaniA style, where a unarmored nobody with a rusty sword doesn't need to fear a pack of wolves....

PS : About the nameless hero, there are any explanation to why the nameless hero in few weeks managed to go from circle 0 to 6? All powerful magicians looks extremely old. And are probably the best of bests.

Corristo/Saturas and Xardas all look at least 70 years old

Y"Berion is the unique exception but even him looks like he is on his 40s.

This is clear evidence that the god-awful voice actor for the protagonist cannot be detected by ESL regions

Shhh...not too loud. The edgelords won't know what to do if they realize that.

Er... no, it didn't. Even if it had though, that's not even a similar situation. They're not going to remove Gothic because another developer does a reimagining.

[Gothic: Remake] Apparently it's possible to disable some of the graphical postprocessing to make the game look less bright and bloomy (screenshots found on /v/)

Interesting how removing some post-processing can improve graphics and atmosphere so much. Shit mechanics, dialogs and writing are sadly not as easily improvable, once already finished. Hopefully they'll listen to the fanbase, as this thing doesn't have anything to do with Gothic as of right now.
