I've added Mars: War Logs to my queue
It's short and rough, but not bad at all. Have you played Technomancer?
The games take place concurrently, Mars: War Logs starts a bit after Technomancer and finishes before Technomancer ends. I don't think there's too many other games like that. Apparently the term is "interquel" or "paraquel" or somesuch from a quick search but I've never heard it used.

This is my first Spiders game. I'll get War Logs when it's a buck again, and I'll see how it is from there.

Yeah, I read how Technomancer was an interquel/sidequel, and there aren't too many of those around. I know the next game I'll be playing (Valkyria Chronicles 4) is one. Storm of Zehir is one to Mask of the Betrayer as well (it takes place after NWN2 but before the Knight-Captain's return to Neverwinter).

I've finished this and enjoyed it very much. It's too bad the design demands you follow the quest markers and not explore at all in order to have the most tolerable playing experience, but I liked the power fantasy of being a diplomat who fixes everyone's problems and clears out corruption. Impressed that every faction had its bad and good people (a different studio could have very well made the fantasy Christians pure evil or made the island natives all Noble Savages). The De Vespe DLC probably costs more than it should, but I did like its story and the new music, so it was worth it for me. I've added Mars: War Logs to my queue and am looking forward to Greedfall 2 (though I understand why they went with a prequel; I was such an effective diplomat that I got the "And everyone lived happily ever after" ending).
How do you put up with the banality of the story? I couldnt do it, had an existential crisis while exploring the forest.

I liked being a diplomat and I liked the characters. Also don't explore the forests, even though there are a few phoned-in game-padding quests to collect and kill things and such, it's not worth it.

Installed the game yesterday, played around 2 hours. So far I'm pleasantly surprised, even if the game appears to have numerous flaws (very low sync of voices with facial animations, rooms look artificial, etc).
Anything I should know before venturing forth? I play mage btw, but considering dual-classing into one-handed blades or even changing eveyrthing into it, not sure how magic works long-term.

I played full mage and it was quite boring, since you become op really fast
Don't bother with exploration is the key to happiness in this game, just do the quests, also do the companion quests

GreedFall is on sale right now (-60%). I guess it won't be much lower than that anytime soon? Also, is Gold Edition worthwhile or meh?

Is this worth playing on deep sale? Just need yes or no ratings no need to waste your time unless you like.
If you like 00s Bioware-style RPGs but with French whimsy replacing Bioware's idiosyncratic writing.

7/10 - it is ok, but it has flaws that made later parts of it chore (too much combat, invisible walls, too much running around). Still, best game by Spiders yet..

I finally got around to playing this. Been having good fun with it so far. I know the combat gets shit on a lot for this game, but for me, going through doors is the worst part of it. The camera zooms in, then out, then back in, wobbles a little bit, then settles down. Every door is like this. There are a lot of doors. The story has been pretty good so far. Interesting enough to keep me playing. I remember people saying it is like Dragon Age Inquistion. I agree with that mostly.

It's an okay game, but marred by respawning mobs, not much enemy variety, and generally overstaying its welcome. It's worth a run. I did the final boss twice, to get two different endings, and that was it.

This is the only game that I've played for 30h+, dropped and never came back. Probably a good contender for the most boring RPG I had ever experienced. Empty world, constant walking from point A to B, boring combat, shitty itemization, annoying accents and ridiculous monster variety. The worst thing: the first few hours give you a feeling it may actually be decent. Avoid.

Finished it. Did every quest. Fully explored all locations. I think its a good not great game. I had fun. There was some interesting choices along the way. I enjoyed the role the main character plays. The entire playthrough took 55 hours. That is playing very slowly though, as I do most RPG's. I would like to state that I was on PC, using two different computer configurations, and it never crashed.

Yeah, that's about how I felt about the game.

Have you tried Technomancer? Similar style and structure of gameplay, only SF instead of fantasy.

Gentleman, I just completed Greedfall, and I must say I rather enjoyed it. Would The Technomancer by Spiders plays similarly to Greedfall? E.g. same type of character progression, skill tree, c&c, etc.?

Yes, Technomancer is the same type of game with similar chardev, only it's sci-fi instead of fantasy.

If you liked Greedfall and you don't hate sci-fi you'll very likely have a lot of fun with Technomancer.
