A new mechanic is coming in the next update that was turned off long ago. Every time a party character successfully saves against a condition, the resistance they saved with will in turn get a saving throw for CONSTITUTION + other factors that determines if they increase that resistance by 1 point. Eventually, having survived enough combats, resistances can rise this way to a universal capped value (usually 50 of 100) of total resistance possible except where that race/class has a resistance cap that is lower.

Is this resistance mechanic in the new update too?

It's in the new update 2.0.0.15, capped at 60 or MAX RESISTANCE LIMIT for that race if it has one. Makes game a little better with characters increasing in toughness very slowly when surviving attacks.

Grimoire 2.0.0.15 Update Available Now
6 Feb @ 4:52am - GOLDEN ERA GAMES
Update 2.0.0.15

New icon with tooltip for dropping items on the cell.

Resistances can now improve versus CONSTITUTION, up to a maximum of 60 out of 100 or the race limit for the resistance. Each time your character saves versus some kind of attack in the game, they have a small chance of increasing their resistance to those kinds of attacks depending on their CONSTITUTION ! Note that this is impossible until a character's CON reaches at least 50 or higher ! This is an incentive to increase a character's CONSTITUTION at level advancement, especially with weaker characters like Feyfolk and Aeorbs. Eventually the resistance will increase by successfully saving against attacks that apply a save versus that resistance. This is actually an original game rule in Grimoire that was simply commented back in. At the end of combats you will get a notification that a certain party member's resistance(s) have improved.

Update 2.0.0.14

A longstanding bug involving a combination of keystrokes with clicks on the Inventory Hoard Selector box has been fixed. This bug was fixed thanks to excellent feedback on how to reproduce it. If you find any bug in Grimoire, please see if you can describe how to reproduce it in a reliable fashion. If you were holding down the ENTER key while clicking some of the buttons in this box with an item selected, it was crashing because of the keyboard buffer overflowing with keys in the middle of a redraw/repaint event. It was also possible to lock down the buttons doing this when they were disabled and then flipped to enabled while clicking and holding down the ENTER key. All of these problems are now fixed. Any other bugs related to this kind of bug are also fixed.

Some minor glitches with monster attacks and some use of items around NPCs (caused by absent data) also fixed.

Update 2.0.0.12

I have uploaded an extensive new version with far superior indicators for level advancement, new skills at character creation, fixes to items, spells, weapons and an assert fix.

When you advance a level and have undistributed points, spells or increases remaining you get an icon over top of where the individual leap to Inventory Workshop is now until you have distributed them all. I thought it might help as a reminder. Also the funny glitch exiting after only selecting two spells is fixed. Many, many other minor glitches fixed.

If you distribute the skill points, you don't lose anything on multiple level ups at once.

Also, a cool thing I've just noticed, which is prob tied to the post-combat resistance increases: it seems weapon skills in combat no longer increase only on kills, but also have a chance to go up when you get xp and geld.

Unless the skillups have just all been moved to combat end.

AC 125 plus three or four Armor Plate spells is usually enough to deal with the dragonflies.

I'm pretty sure Cleve mentioned at some point that they are supposed to stack - and from my experience, stacking definitely seemed to make a difference.

They have been moved to the end as a report after combat ends.

Game’s been a real treat so far. I’m in Utah on a ski trip and I’m still thinking about playing Grimoire when I get back home.

You have to select Hide in the first round (stealth skill) and if you are successful, then your next attack will trigger a backstab as you put points into the backstab skill. The more points, the more effective the attack will be, and can produce double or triple damage.

Stealth will increase through use, but backstab you need to pump points when you level up.

Yes, you can lethal blow on a backstab. Later on you will face enemies with hundreds of hit points. If you backstab for 150 damage with a character who has lethal bow, they can still get an instant kill.

I'm a noob and stuck inside "The Shrine of the Raptor". I used the owl statue and when I came back the door was closed. Any idea how I can go back? Pathfinder doesn't work either. I can't get out because the ladder is on the other side of the door. I'm using the default party at briarpatch and my inventory has two apples, leeches, a spellbook, some weapons, one cursed knife with a skull on the handle, one "dread" powder and a few vials of "cure lt cond".

I have an older savefile at the top of the ladder. I went in, and the secret entrance was open (I had used the owl before). I went in, waited, and came out. Not locked. Then Galen cast True Seeing at 48 and I went to the other side and walked around until it wore off, waited, interacted with the plaque, fought a few packrats, "look"ed around and the door was still open. No idea how that last one happened but I can't reproduce it.

Is there any point to using backstab, since it takes a turn to line it up and lethal blow matters much more than doing extra damage?

Thieves do not get the Lethal Blow skill, so it is an option for those characters to deal large amounts of damage. When you get multiple attacks on a turn, each attack is a backstab. So one round of hiding, for potentillay 100+ damage x 3 or more for the rest of the battle.

But even with a pirate, who does get Lethal Blow, I found hiding/backstabbing effective on end game monsters such as psyclops and neurophrites, they seem to be more resistant to instant kills, and have a lot of hitpoints. Facing a cluster or multiple clusters of them, a pirate backstabbing came in handy.
