I like tower, but they aren't particularly strong, definitely not on impossible. In fact, many pros consider them one of the weakest factions. Their creeping is good, but you still will get resource screwed, bad.

Well, it's only the beginning which can be hard. After that there's always enough resources to liberate from various sites. And the fact that you need only gold to upgrade the Gremlin dwelling makes an Impossible start so much easier for the Tower.
But I guess in MP the Tower will be at a disadvantage in the mid game since it takes so long to get Titans. Gargoyles and Golems not being resurrectable is also a disadvantage.

Also, despite the newbie solmyr meme their heroes are kinda trash with all the useless skills they get. Muh armored Neela being the one standout.

Some of them make good secondary heroes for their scouting and scholar skills, but I agree there's few that stand out as main hero material.

Permanent Resurrection and Animate Dead are pretty much game breaking spells. Also, Town Portal should have only allowed the player to teleport to the nearest town.

I was always a Fortress Player, though my friend group was using random hero and very hard difficulty by default rather than impossible, so not sure what they are worth in impossible.

In Very hard, they can in a few days have a hero dedicated to capturing resources with only dragonflies, and can allow have double flyer armies in one week with some luck (because you only need the level 2 lizard dweeling for the wyverns)

I always play on Impossible with random hero (if allowed) and I like the Fortress. I think it's not very popular?
Unless there's not enough Lumber available, I sometimes aim for Wyverns ASAP instead of the usual rush to get Capitol ASAP.

octavius the dynamics in multiplayer are completely different from SP, and I don't think something like Tower is very good against decent opponents on most maps. It's too slow and too expensive.

But then again, it's been more than 15 years since I played MP homm3 with any regularity, so maybe people found new stuff since then.

Factions that were, theoretically, designed as cheap and quick (fortress and stronghold) don't work as they should and on impossible they get even worse instead of better. In current meta and updates they aren't as bad as they used to be, but they still ain't gr8. I actually kinda like stronghold and they have some good units and heroes, but I still would never pick them in an impossible diff match that I intended to win. Alas, it's always inferno that suffers the most, because official devs and later the community tried to throw some bones to barbs and lizards, but no one seems to care about the poor devils. They just have the stupid cheesy demon farming and that's pretty much it.

I'm very into cock and ball torture
My favourite faction Rampart is pretty gud on impossible right? Centaurs are stupidly good for a T1.

I rarely care to get into more detail than broken/gud/meh tiers. In such rating system, rampart sits comfortably in gud. There's a lot to like about them and they have some of the sweetest heroes in the game, if you're not much into house ruling armorer and logistics specialists.

I liked the melancholic feel Tower has in its cities. Apparently its city theme was inspired by Russian music, Rachmaninov particularly.

Those devils are the only dudes in all of fantasy who actually hold a scythe the right way around.

Why is Stronghold so shit lads, lvl1 and 2 creatures both die in droves and everyone else is so expensive, the only worthwhile creature is behemoths.

3 is probably my most played game along with D2.

I liked 2 but it wasn't that great. 3 just hit the nail when it comes to gameplay, art, music, good campaigns, great multi with hotseats shit even playing by mail.

If there is a perfect game then HoMM3 is one. I can't think of more perfect game. Everything just fits perfectly and there isn't anything i would change about it.

Tips on how to win on Impossible? I decided to play the default map (All for One) on impossible, started as lich. Had a pretty good start, but now I'm in the late game with an OP Hero with only 1 main army and no logistics. My towns keep being recaptured and being taken again and it feels like there's no end to it. All the NPCS have decent armies to where I can't afford to defend anything. It took 3 weeks for me to get a decent army (vampires).

Rushing works well on campaign maps, but usually a Small non-campaign map is impossible on Impossible.
It's hard to rush on Impossible, when you start with 0 resources and nothing to rush with.

If not under immediate threat, personally I tend to concentrate the first turns on flagging all mines and picking up all resources in the starting area and try to build a capitial ASAP. But that's not always feasible.

Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. Pathfinder: Wrath
I played some of this over the weekend. These are probably well known tactics but I haven't played HoMM3 since I was a teenager.

Anyway I used disguise to fool the enemy into attacking my strongest hero.

During a siege I destroyed the enemy catapult on my first turn and then I blocked the entrance to the castle with Golden Dragons so that their melee units had to come at me one by one.

Solmyr isn't that good, he was my main. Enemy might heroes were much stronger.

Some heroes give gold or resources as their special ability, if you also give them Estates they will provide a small source of income for you.
