I think judging by those screens I like the general impression of force, given by the ones posted by the worst race class combination since Half Orc Wizard or Sorcerer. The minus -2 to strength typically means a -1 to potential damage, and the bonus to AC the dex gives only slightly makes up for it. Contrary to popular belief elves... and Oh my god I need more sleep, I started this as a graphics critique and it ended up with murmurings of DnD.

Better Sorting by Headbomb

This mod basically takes several items, and renames them so they sort better. Instead of something like

*Falmer Arrow (190)
*Iron Arrow (25)
*Potion of Extreme Healing
*Potion of Extreme Magicka
*Potion of Healing
*Potion of Magicka
*Potion of Minor Healing
*Potion of Minor Magicka
*Steel Arrow (47)

You get something like

*Arrow, Falmer (190)
*Arrow, Iron (26)
*Arrow, Steel (47)
*Restore Health, 025pts
*Restore Health, 050pts
*Restore Health, 150pts
*Restore Magicka, 025pts
*Restore Magicka, 050pts
*Restore Magicka, 150pts

I tested it and it runs fine with the latest patch and also is compatible with QD-Inventory.

How does it affect sneaking? You're already like a ghost in dungeons even though the rooms seem well-lit.

I have to say though that if/when the guy gets his bugs worked out, that's going to be a must-have mod. The shopping mall-lighted dungeons are getting wearisome.

Need help attempting to recover saved game

In an attempt to get rid of the micro stutter issue I used the outlined suggestion in this thread.

uExterior Cell Buffer=64
uGridsToLoad=7
iPreloadSizeLimit=262144000

I decided to remove these lines and my save game would no longer load. I put the lines back in and the game would load so I followed the below suggestion from this thread to try and revert my last save game so I could remove the mod ini entries above.

Open the savegame
open console
setini "ugridstoload:general"5
saveini
refreshini
save the game again

Tried to load the game and had the red tint and the game crashed to desktop when I try to load the saved game.

Prior to trying to reverse I did back up the Skyrim user folder. So when the above reversal failed I put the back up into place but still got the red tint and crash to desktop.

That seems to suggest that something else is getting modified besides items in the Skyrim user folder. The only thing I can think of is the REALISTIC WATER mod, which is in the Skyrim Data folder.

Anyway at this point its all broken and I would be happy getting back to the point prior to the reversal attempt where the console commands were done. If anyone can help please let me know what to do.

uGridsToLoad=7 does not remove the stuttering, it removes some of the object pop-up as its loading more world cell (default is 5) and will make the stuttering worst as its loading more world cells.

And yes, its somehow in your save game settings were it cannot load if the setting is lower that when it was saved it seems trying to set it with the console not always work, not sure if its a 1.3 problem or not.

As for the Realistic Water ... I had a strange CTD when I traveled up a road and got close to Traitor's Post in a earlier version and I read people having problems with it and it now uses a .esp, I had no strange crashes when traveling that road again, your performance issues but be if you are using the 1.3 or earlier versions since 1.4 update says it added Mipmaps to reduce CPU/GPU stress (current version is 1.5b).

I only use Realistic Water because the weird flow on rivers irritates me.

Skyrim HD - 2K Textures

has received a large update

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=607

v1.2

- ALL the Landscape textures have been completely remade
-> also included: 2K Roads, 4K Mountains, 2K Cliffs and some 8K Tree textures
- 4K Water texture
- 2K Rain Ripples
- 4K Stars
- 4K Galaxy
- 2K Sunglare
- 2K Foam texture
- 2K Whiterun textures
- 2K Windhelm textures
- 2K Dungeon ground
- 2K Selling Bar (Global)

It's pretty good but potentially could impact performance on weaker systems. There is a "lite" version there as well. I am using it with another mod, realistic water.

Try this:

  • Backup SkyrimPrefs.ini, Skyrim.ini and your Skyrim ‘Saves’ folder.
    Load your last save game.
Press tilde on your keyboard, most commonly placed directly to the left of ‘1.’ If it is elsewhere, the keyboard symbol should be ` or ~.
    In the now-visible in-game console type setini “ugridstoload:general” 5
    Hit Return on your keyboard.
    Type saveini
    Hit Return on your keyboard.
    Type refreshini
    Hit Return on your keyboard.
    Close the console using tilde.
    Create a new save game.
    Exit Skyrim.
    Delete Skyrim.ini in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim.
    Reload the Skyrim configuration tool.
    Close the tool.
Re-tweak Skyrim.ini if necessary (and SkyrimPrefs.ini if it has since been modified).
Reload Skyrim and your most recent save.
    Enjoy the game.

Turn off AA, and Anisotropic filtering in skyrim launcher, and force those in nvidia control panel, the game will look, and run better.

SOLUTION

Here is the fix figured out by Solymer89 on the Nexus Forums.. and this actually works.

Here the full solution step by step:
-. Open the configuration panel from the standard Skyrim launcher, the cool borderless splash screen one (not the 4GB launcher!!)
-. Configuration
-. Flag the window mode option and select whatever resolution you prefer, just go for one that's smaller than your screen
-. Start the game, now windowed
-. Alt+Tab to be able to move your cursor out of the game window and open the Skyrim.ini file you can find in the "MyDocuments\My Games\Skyrim\" folder
-. Change the "uGridsToLoad" and "uExterior Cell Buffer" values to the lower ones you need and SAVE
-. Click inside the game window to get back in control of the game cursor and open the console (press the "~" button, the one below "Esc")
-. Type refreshini and hit Enter
-. Now make a new savegame, even a quick one
-. Exit the game
-. Now you can run Skyrim again with the fullscreen resolution, the latest save file will work at the lower uGridsToLoad value!!!

Is there a mod that tones down/removes the level scaling of city guards?
