Tried the demo.
RTS with some slight Warcraft 3 inspirations where you're clearing out creep camps and gather crafting junk during the day and defend your base from the undead during the night.
Hero abilities and level-up perks are... boring. [+5% attack damage], [+10% gathering speed] and spells like [crappy single target fireball that deals a slight DoT after hit] - this type of stuff. AoE healing field is useful at least.
Could have sworn that heroes from original W3 had more interesting abilities. It also made me remember Rising Kingdoms and how cool were the heroes in that one for some reason.
Understimated the amount of wood this game will demand from you to spend. I had two lamberjack camps and i was constantly running out of it.
The amount of pure crafting junk you will be gathering is... maybe a bit excessive for this kind of game, i think. Gear you can both find and craft are probably even more boring than my spells.
There is only one building that produces units but everything that is more advanced than a spearmen demands crafting resources.
Couldn't even afford spearmen because they're expensive in terms of wood so my army consisted of only archers who require crafting a bow that cost less wood. Didn't save me from the wood shortages before my base got overrun tho.
Still, there is something about this game's concept that i found weirdly compelling. Could have sworn i played a similar Warcraft 3 or Starcraft 2 mod map before.
Never played They Are Billions or any of it's derivatives so perhaps i should try some more of them.
