Based on past Nightdive remasters it will just be the bare minimum to get it to work on modern machines, the core game will be as before warts and all.

I don't need more from a remaster than just play ready and stable game in high resolution without needless hassle of looking for fixes and workarounds. Nightdive's remasters are solid and to the point. At least we won't have another Kingpin: Reloaded on our hands.

Really hope they get to do Requiem: Avenging Angel one day.

Nightdive occasionally fumbles a remaster here or there but even the Blade Runner remaster was nowhere near as bad as Kingpin Reloaded. Honestly not even in the same universe of bad remasters. Their track record with remastering old games is like a B+ at worst when compared to other developers.

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In I helped put crap in Monomyth
i really hope they revamp the turning/assimilation mechanics. i was greatly disappointed when i figured out that its just scripted to occur when you get to a specific spot or whatever instead of occurring in a more believable way

Well, they already butchered the cover. Looks much less ominous now with that bright orange and higher brightness in general.

The face of the guy on original cover looks like he is losing a marathon to the shitter

The color palette is much better though

The game wasn't that good to begin with. Neat ideas, or rather claims how the game would work, that amounted to nothing.

Strap Yourselves In Codex Year of the Donut Codex+ Now Streaming! Torment: Tides of Numenera Wasteland 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
That's one game than needs a remake, not a remaster, as far as I know at least. I am about to give it a try this summer anyway.

It can also trigger in some instances if your squad members are exposed to and hit repeatedly by the Thing creatures.
They'll transform if that happens.
Anyway, I liked this game, but I think it needs a Remake or Revamp, not a Remaster.
Improving the AI, making the game more polished, improving the squad mechanic and the infection mechanic, and so on.

Remastering average or below average games with potential are the 'ideal' remasters IMO. And I would count this game as part of that list. It's good up until the second half from what I've played.

I remember watching a friend play this on his console when i was at his house once. Seemed simplistic but the atmosphere was decent, though you'd have to try real hard to mess that aspect if you try to stick close to the movie as much as you can.

It's more of a Third-Person shooter, really.
The first part of the game is the best one because it sticks closer to the atmosphere and design of the movie.

Nightdive are shit.
The only good thing they did was Doom 64 imo.
Turok had controller deadzones from hell among other things (didn't bother playing past 5 minutes).
Exhumed/Powerslave was a bastardisation between different versions and never existed in this form.
They shovel these remasters out with each new project receiving less love than the last.
Emulate the games instead!

Nightdive are just one of those studios that successfully cashed in on the Remaster craze.
I've always been wary of remasters.
Just play the original game with patches and other fixes/enhancements and that's it.

*sigh*

They always get this shit backwards. They remake the games that don't need remade and only remaster the games that would benefit most from a full on remake. The Thing is the latter. It had some cool ideas but the game as a whole was pretty bad. This should have been remade from the ground up.

You played it on the PC or the console?

Nightdive have produced excellent remasters, as well as more average ones. Their work on Quake II was honestly stellar, and is the definitive version of the game in all aspects, despite being proprietary. If it's a high priority game for them, they will put the time and effort to making sure everything is done right. If it's a low priority game, they'll do the bare minimum. The recent Dark Forces remaster was one such case, despite being Soy Wars-related ().

Yep. I was saying in the other thread that the game has a lot of unrealised potential. It could be improved upon a lot in a remake. Hopefully Nightdive recognizes this and at least tweaks the infection and squad system for the remaster. Not sure how much work it'd be to at least remove the scripted auto infection triggers (idk, replace them with more vents or obstacles your squaddies can't follow you through at the very least) because those were probably the most egregious part of the system's problems.

They should've remastered the whole Penumbra trinity. They struggle with modern systems, even when patched.
