And most of those parachutes will never deploy.

Still. Needs more SRBs. It always needs more SRBs.

Well, this is enough to get you on an escape velocity.

After making a scientifci anlissys on that model I can concur that THAT will indeed explode.

So apparently in the next update, the 23.5 one with the asteroid mission and new extra large parts, they're going to buff Ion Engines. And by buff I mean that their thrust will be 4 times what it is now, I'm guessing they're going to tone down their power usage per N of thrust as well.

You know what that means? Solar powered Ion Engine planes, ah but not the old solar powered ion engine lightweight drones of yesteryear. Manned solar planes for fucking Duna. :incline:

Also Munar Ion Engine hovercrafts should be possible since TWR>1 on the Mun is just barely possible with Ion Engine now. Oh and regular boring ion engine manned ships are more practical now.

They've also added flag decals to quite a lot of parts. So your space program flag will show up on the 3-man capsule, some of the new and old fuel tanks and other stuff. It wasn't outright said that shit is in now, but if the guy is officially streaming an experimental build I am assuming it has no mods and they added that functionality to the stock game.

You can also now timewarp from within the tracking station and the space center screen, although there's no in-game time clock on either of those. They need to add that one day.

Also we're getting new bigger boosters, two new extra large engines (one has a vacuum ISP of 380), extra large fuel tanks, an escape tower part the size of a large parachute cap, the claw (lets you "dock" with anything without a docking port and even allows you to transfer fuel, so a space rape enabling mechanical penis really).

The randomly generated asteroids look pretty cool. They come in sizes from A to E, where the E ones are the most massive with something like 3000+ tons in mass IIRC. Good lucking moving that shit. Best part is that you can use the claw not just to move them around, but also to attach small modules to its surface and build a space station around the damn rock and it treats everything as one vessel. So you can have Ork Roks in Kerbal basically after you attach enough fuel tanks and engines to one.

:incline:

Missions and other new career mode mechanics are coming in 0.24 as planned. Probably another month or two before they release that.

Also manuever nodes now have precise control, and you can now tweak RGB color setting on the electric light parts so that they give off light in any color you desire.

The ion engine buff and the ion engine in general seem really dumb. I don't understand why it exists at all.

It fill the niche for a highly efficient small engine perfect for light deep space probes, the LV-N is too big and massive for those while the other probe sized engines aren't a whole lot efficient. Which isn't much of an advantage until they add budgets and money, then using smaller and lighter payloads and launch vehicles will be more practical in career mode. They'll also probably be cheaper than the LV-N NTR engine (or at least they should since NTRs use fucking nuclear reactors, that shit ain't cheap), so they might see more use for deep space missions. Once they get that thrust power increase and energy usage reduction.

It's not a bad engine really, it's just that the 30-60 minute burns that you end up with now make it tedious to use. Hence why they're changing that.

The new ARM patch looks really cool, I'll spend many a glorious nights destroying Kerbin from orbit like the awesome evil demigod I always wanted to be. *giggles in expectation*

Things like the Ion engine can get very interesting with really small probe weights. I have the most fun with spaceships <1ton, and the calculations get more and more interesting the smaller the spacecraft.

I believe the future of interstellar space flight could be even more extreme. Other solar systems could be reached by nano probes, smaller than the human eye can see. Who knows, perhaps aliens have are sending them to us already.

But it's not fun to do those long burns, especially if they take several orbits. Well, it's fun once, and a boring time waste thereafter.

With physics time warp and a 4-fold increase in thrust the ion engine should end up with real time burn time the length of an LV-N burn with no physics time warp. Though granted that should still be about 5 minutes long at worst, I usually grab a sandwich and/or alt-tab and read the news on the never-ending story of the Ukrainian/Economical Crisis.

So, I bought this game, because I cannot resist it anymore. But do i need to be a science expert to be successful in it? :D

No. Orbital mechanics are straightforward. And failing is half the fun anyway.

Scott Manley has a set of tutorials on youtube if you get stuck. But you're cheating yourself out of some hilarious explosions if you don't play it blind for a while.

FAR AND Deadly Reentry :D

Also Kerbal Engineer, Infernal Robotics and Kerbal Attachment System once you get the hang of the basics. And Remotetech + the Life Support mod if you want more challenge. Kethane is fun too. :3

There are no asteroids in sandbox mode?

EDIT: naa, found them.

Tried FAR but i never usespaceplanes and such do i didn't see much difference.

What KSP really need is more stuff to do in orbit and on moon/planets.

EDIT2: In VAB is there a way to snap things in height and not just for rotation?
