Grab the Codex by the pussy
Vendetta Online (cockpit-based online space sim you've never heard of that's been around for years) is doing a Kickstarter to drastically expand, improve and iShit-ify their game, which has always been a tad barebones.

I played it for a while and enjoyed it for what it was. The stretch goals, however, are... uh... have a look:

I was under the impression that stretch goals ought to be a bit more incremental, but whatever works for them. I don't give a damn about the iShit versions myself, and can't imagine playing a fucking space combat simulator-type game with my fingertip, but again, whatever.

iPhones have an accelerometer right? They might use that for controls. Will still be shit, but better than trying to pilot with your finger.

They already released a version for android tablets using the accelerometer for controls and it was shit last time I tried it.

Make the Codex Great Again!
I will make a 2012 retrospective post to analyze the ups and downs of this thread.

:salute:

Something for the PnP crowd: Interface Zero 2.0, the 2nd edition of a cyberpunk RPG running on the Savage Worlds system. Though I've never read it before, reviewers of the first game have given it a lot of praise.

Skyjacker finally managed to get a successful Kickstarter, let's hope that this bode well for the future of the game.

Now, about homesick, they got funded and announced their stretch goals:
$12,000 - We will make more game, with more puzzles, more story, more physics, and more stuff to interact with! We will also be able to make the whole game more polished. And, we will develop the game for the Oculus Rift.
The usual stuff, the troubling part is the support for the Oculus Rift, a peripheral not yet released, at best they are getting ahead of themselves, at worst is just a lie to get more pledges by adding something that seems cool.
$16,000 - We will make a roof level, where the player will get to go out onto the roof of the building. Up on the roof there will be more puzzles and more story, plus a great view of the world beyond the building.
Basically a new level, nothing wrong here.
$22,000 - We will make a prequel game that will be unlocked after beating the main game. The prequel will take place in a very different environment, with a very different feel.
Not this shit please, did Brenda set a precedent?
Do they really think that with that money they can make two games?
Are they planning to release a free to play flash game or are they living in Georgia?

Yeah they might be a little overly ambitious with doing a "prequel", however I highly doubt this project will get to $22,000 even with 21 days to go.

Remember that Flash PA Trading/RPG game I posted awhile back...

From the "Decent to play Flash games" Thread:
Caravaneer:
Made by Dmitry Zheltobriukhov in 2007, it can be described as a Trading/Survival/RPG Game.
The creator is a fan of the original Fallouts, so the game is set in a Post Apocalyptic Desert.
It attempts to have an open-world, turn based combat, and some C&C.
http://www.sugar-free-games.com/playgame.php?game=849

Also has a Wiki: http://caravaneer.wikia.com/wiki/Slightly_Unofficial_Guide_To_Caravaneers,_The

Well the guy is apparently trying to :) crowd funding the sequel:
Indiegogo: Caravaneer 2
A post apocalyptic RPG game with trading elements, isometric graphics and turn-based battles

I'm disappointed :( that he's doesn't seem to offer a download of the game.
The original was always downloadable right from his site.

He's also giving "special content" to backers, which rubs me the  wrong way...

God, I hate that special content to backers shit always makes me rethink my pledges; one of my big pulls to crowdfunding (besides funding genre's no publisher would touch) was to get away from this whole chopping games up and giving special content to different store fronts shite. Course using crowdfunding like a preorder system is becoming quite common as many companies are using crowd funding more as a marketing tool.

not asking for these to be added or anything (not sure if worthy)... just posting this here for those who follow the thread

I only skimmed through it, but it seems to aim at a _light_ King of Dragon Pass type of gameplay

Spatial-Flux is a Rogue-like adventure game in space. Utilising high resolution backgrounds and pixel art to create a unique experience for the player. (pretty cool art... but they say it's a placeholder?!?)

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.

The prequel is probably just another campaign in the same engine, so it would just be extra graphics for the most part.

By the looks of it the game has no actual enemies. That means no AI programming and no character animation (beyond the black nightmare stuff). And while it's hard to tell, they're probably using unity, which is piss easy to use. If you can write a hello world program, you can make an adventure game in Unity (after stumbling around for a bit). If his primary job is a 3d artist then he's already adept at doing the hardest part (the environment).

I live in Toronto (a fairly expensive place). You can get a decent room for 400/month here if you don't mind certain inconveniences. 10k is enough if you don't have crushing debt and aren't a moron at navigating the real world.

Idiocracy
This is a zombie survival game made by former Gas Powered employees, where they say you build, fight and survive. What impressed me about it, is they say 2 guys made the prototype in only six weeks. Terrible name for search engines though, I couldn't find any mention of it here.

The problem with ROAM is that it is "an online co-op action game", which means it's going to be shit, regardless of anything else.
