So, I finally bought it and spend a few hours picking all the herbs, talking to everyone and doing all the quests. And had to Run!

This is by far the worst designed, frustrating and irritating quest I ever did. It took me about 10 tries just to figure out the very bad controls and what I am supposed to do. And they kill me every time. It is beyond retarded. Fuck this game.
Do you have problems?

The key "W" transports the character forwards.
The key "A" transports the character to the left.
The key "S" transports the character backwards.
The key "D" transports the character to the right.

Now it gets tricky as the walking speed is pretty slow.
To get away from your enemies you can hold the "Shift" key on your keyboard.
Usually it is done with the left pinky.
This accelerates the speed of your character and lets him evade your enemies.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Open world, as in: "you can go any direction and do anything", but unless it's the exact one the game demands you to take without telling you, you die.

The game told you to ride to Talmberg like a wind and the horse tutorial screen told you how to gallop. Don't blame the game for your own popamoleness.

The game told me to "go around, jump down and go to Talmberg". Probably easy to get for someone who grew up there, but I have no idea where to jump and where Talmberg is. The "go around" part is resolved during the cut-scene. So, where to go? Look around and get chopped in the back. No thinking, more running! You die.

Ok, follow the path, but it splits multiple times. Where to go? We got around, but had to jump down? Go straight down. And get chopped apart. Ok, try again. There's a road to the left and right, with soldiers running to the left. Try to get behind them. Wrong choice, you die. Ok, try to get in front of them and run to the left. Oh, a woman close by is yelling! She has to be straight down, on the road, as that's the only place she can be. BZZZT! Try again!

Ok, ok, how about we ignore everything and keep hugging the mountain as long as possible. Ah, horses! And a help screen! Yay, this is it! Ok, press X and X again. It doesn't work! Die. Try again. Ok, this time I got on the horse. The mouse doesn't work. Ok, that way! No, that way! Oh, now I'm on the ground. Die.

Anyway, to make a long story short, you have to equip the sword in the inventory and press 1 to use it, which often fails, and you cannot run when an enemy hits you because you get locked to that enemy. Unlock, run! Get hit and be locked again. And your horse seems to have to go where the soldiers are, but it wants to go the other way. You get hit, fall off the horse, surrounded, locked to some random soldier and chopped to pieces.

Let alone that you have to save the woman? Every time I get close to those three soldiers, I cannot escape. I get locked and chopped.

At some point I started cursing and gave up.

It's just down and then running straight away from Skalitz.
When you leave Skalitz the direction you are looking is the one you need to run.
Horse controls are just normal WASD controls.

With rescueing the girl your autism strikes very hard.
You just want to do it, because you're used to completing everything in every other game.
But does it actually make sense that an untrained blacksmith's son can kill three full time soldiers?

Are you playing on Hardcore on your first run? Because on Normal you get quest pointers on your compass bar.

You're supposed to run, not fight professional soldiers armed to teeth.

Let alone that you have to save the woman? Every time I get close to those three soldiers, I cannot escape. I get locked and chopped.

Is THIS really that hard?

What you're talking about is the introduction to the game. Yes, it's long in KCD but after that the game opens up and "you can go any direction and do anything".

I went and did all the DLC and enjoyed most of it except Johanka's quest made me ragequit when I had to escort some thot whore to Sasau and got jumped by 3 fuckers who would hit me in the back like bitches. Absolutely infuriating how shit kept switching, could never actually do anything because if I went to block one another behind me would be hitting me.. died like 6 times and then just said fuck it, quit the game and uninstalled.
Not gonna argue about fights against multiple opponents, but you can play the subquest in ways where you don't get jumped by Henslin

Yes, yes, I get it, you all succeeded on the first try, like everyone else but me. I simply suck at playing games.

And I'm not trying to fight, I simply cannot avoid it. Perhaps I'll watch the video posted and copy that exactly, as it is clearly the only thing the game allows you to do. And I'll keep a good look at the quest compass, something I very rarely do, but it seems to be required here.

It's like an open world game with an invisible minefield everywhere but the single path you have to walk, timed. And no markings.

a) you don't have to save her
b) your only goal is to distract the armed soldiers. You're a fucking near-naked blacksmith boy with zero skills. Wannabe heroes can smash them Cumans and then have to flee anyway. For other people there's a tutorial which says that whistling at a horse produces noise that can distract opponents.

If you follow the road you started on (after cutscene where you get an arrow to the leg) you eventually ride to a fork, where henry says "left, Talmberg is to the left"
This is the only turn you have to make. You just follow one road, turn left, then follow the other road.
The markers even first lead you to the fork, and only then to Talmberg.
Don't try to fight, don't try to lose them, just run.

Will Teresa be gone if you don't save her? What happens to her DLC? The combat sucks in this game, but I quite liked the DLCs including Teresa's, it was pretty good.

When talking to Stephanie or something, Henry says he fought the Cuman's to save Teresa and Teresa during her DLC shows that Henry attacked one of the Cumans that were trying to rape her, that didn't really happen. All I did was whistle and run because like I said the combat sucked for groups.

I have very great fun with the game right now, but when in the development cycle came the idea up with the activities?
It have the feeling that you planned with more real quests and then as the time ran out you just made the bare minimum with those activities.

On the other hand i don't want to know how much work was the whole Sasau monastery.
It is so beautiful. One of the nicest places in any game.
But was that much detail needed?

The quest tells you to Run! So, that's what I tried to do. When that didn't work very well, I started trying other things. I didn't know what is supposed to happen, perhaps you should help the woman before you can use the horse or something. And because it always ended in one or more soldiers hitting and locking me, I thought that perhaps I was supposed to fight back.

The Japanese solve this by turning the game segment into a full cut-scene and sometimes putting the button you have to press at that moment on the screen. I hate it, but at least it works. Or, in this case make a help screen right after the cut-scene that shows the map and a few arrows, for people who aren't born there and don't know.

How many players never finished the prologue?

Don't know about DLC but i didn't save her and she was raped and then killed them afterwards with a dagger.

I didn't save her, because i thought it's impossible.
Feels pretty meta that you can whistle and they follow you to the end of the world.

Arrow to the leg? I'm playing a different game, it seems. I get the cutscene where the Cumans attack, you father dies heroic and you have to "Run!" After about 10 tries, I made it five times to the horse and even three times I got on top of it, but every direction I tried to go got me chopped up. I tried to help the woman, to fight the guy who is coming after you and the soldiers that hit you from your horse. And all the time I was wondering what I did wrong, and what it was the game wanted me to do.

You know that you can gallop by double-pressing and then holding "Shift"?

Playing on Hardcore? I could understand it being lost on hardcore, since even directions seem disabled for the radar thing but on normal it shows you that a marker on the horse and then a direction after you get on the horse. Not sure how you can get lost to be honest.

Ok, it's a big, lazy, open world RPG with crafting and quests, periodically intersected by timed action scenes where you strictly follow the quest compass and help screens, wrestle with the bad controls and fighting mechanics and reload until you did it just right. Elder Scrolls, but with unavoidable Dark Souls boss fights. Got it.

You got at least something.

Where do the Dark Souls boss fights come from?

It's gorgeous and alive and I was playing it with a big smile. And then I ran into a wall.

I'll watch the video, and try sprinting and galloping while keeping my eyes glued to the quest compass. When I feel like it.

My impression of the game went down from 9.5 to unplayable.

You ran the first 30 min into a wall?
After another 45 min the tutorial is over and the world opens up.
