A spell? Friendly reminder there is not only prismatic void, but also prismatic cone and prismatic wall...

Yeah though Spray and Wall are both legit from source material.

Void is just Pierre making most of level 9 wizard casting obsolete.

Except in SRD, P. wall is explicitly worded as unable to be placed upon creatures. It is a barrier without length, not a zone effect. No unconditional blind for the series either.
Pierre gonna Pierre.

Ok so i am playing the 6 red wizards party and its ... Insanely powerful and becoming really boring. I got to lvl 5 in Finchbury, which means red empower magic missile with all the feats and fireball on 6 chars. Everything dies in 1-2 rounds.
Atm im right past the green gobbos, and im lvl 9 :o

The difficulty curve ramps up insanely so don't get too bored. In fact... this game feels like it was designed by a 13 year old. "Baby's First Dungeon" is how I would describe it. These comically over tuned encounters where you've just discovered the Monster Manual for the first time.

I have been in fights in the lower sewers with 30 monsters active on the map including slimes with 100+ hit points each. Lolwut... I was a teenager last time I saw this level of absurdity. Shortly after that an encounter with about 25 monsters including 6 wizards and 6 clerics against your party of 6. Totally balanced. This is like the munchkin min/max wankfest of all time. Not feeling it...

Called it. Anyone who vehemently hated the tokens is not the core audience. Have to LOL at the “Baby’s First Dungeon” comment. KOTC 2 may be cruelly difficult, but it’s far from rudimentary. The extremely efficient AI should be applauded

Everything dies in 1-2 rounds with usual party too, at this point of game, but it will change soon.

The game would be way too easy if you did not face that stuff. You should be having at least 2 melee guys that can put out half those slimes hp in a round. Its leagues more interesting then pathfinder billion ac boss encounters.

Think I'll give up on my current archmage run. The game has won a war of attrition against me. My party is sitting at level 13, 60 hours into the game and my battles come down to initiative/rng reloads because my only way to full rest at the moment is the genie wish which I'm highly reluctant to use yet. Other than that, it's a bunch of attrition battles and me running back and forth between the said battles and two NPC's in high sewers to patch myself up after every single one, but it's physically hurting me because my druid, cleric and to some degree paladin are all dangerously useless in simple martial combat. It doesn't help that the only lenience I've allowed myself is to turn off the gold cost on level up - everything else is core rules so you can imagine how bad the lack of feats and good hp rolls on level up is hurting.

Is normal difficulty supposed to give you a feat every level and an ability score every 2 levels? I feel that when I first started the game it was definitely 1 feat/3 levels and 1 ability score/4 levels. About to start my first playthrough and I don't want it to be to easy, but I heard people in this thread say normal is the way to go at first. What difficulty should I be using?

Enchanter looks like a fine middle ground for a first playthrough if you've some degree of expertise in 3.0/3.5ed.

There are few campsite to rest and regain spells?

Update Notes for Version 1.29
Fixes the bug with the Moon Crypt puzzle and other puzzles.

What was wrong:
There's a variable called 'Clicked Position' in the script of the puzzles. Normally this variable gets initialised in the earlier parts of the game. However, if the player skips certain parts of the game, it doesn't get initialised, leading to the bug with the Moon Crypt puzzle and elsewhere. That is why only a few people experienced the issue.

How was it fixed:
Now the script will automatically create the missing variable if it doesn't already exist (i.e. if it wasn't declared by a script somewhere). As a result, the game is able to record where the player clicks (what moon, etc).

Thank you jgasser, C4MP3R, Matt (from the Matt Chat Youtube channel) and everyone else in the Steam forum for helping resolve the problem!!

My apologies for this issue! Best regards :)

More pertinent:

Knights of the Chalice 2 Version 1.30
  • Fixed a bug with the feat Point Blank Shot not granting the bonus to ranged attack rolls. Thank you azcore for pointing this out to me!
  • During combat, mousing over a character in the information mode will now display the character's Psionic Power Points, if any. Thank you night4 for the suggestion!
  • Accelerated the falling-down animation based on the 'Accelerated Combat' setting in the Game Options screen. Try the battles on the stairs in the Tutorial Adventure to see the difference. Thank you Fred for the suggestion!
  • Fixed an AI issue when creatures are affected by Stinking Cloud and they need to get out of the cloud quickly. Thank you Frank for pointing this out to me!
  • Fixed a bunch of dialogue spelling errors in the High Sewers involving the Spectral Masters. Thank you again Frank for pointing this out!
  • Fixed a source of crash inolving Quickbar spells and characters from a different module. Thank you Kai for pointing this out to me!
  • Pushing Left Alt + G will now switch on and off the display of the Square Grid. You can do this both in-game and in the Module Editor. Thank you azcore for the suggestion!
  • Pushing F1 in the Game Options screen will now open the Help screen.
  • In the Module Editor, in the 'Module Data' screen, increased the maximum number of characters you can create and add to the party at the start of the module from 10 to 20. Also, in the same screen, increased the maximum party size (including companions) from 10 to 20 characters.

Thank you, Loyal Knights of the Realm!
Rejoice! ^_^

Playing on archmage diff as well... Finchbury going 1-5 before lower sewers really made it easy

Why go 6 red wizards instead of 6 warlocks?

Warlock seems like wizard+psionice combined in one. Has less power points and lacks specialisation, but has more spells, right? Am i missing something.

There are few campsite to rest and regain spells?
I'm playing without extra campsites and my situation was basically the following:
After the moon crypt, you get to pick between Greys and Greens or tell all the aliens goblins to fuck off all together during a showdown. After that, you fight another battle against the Greens king and some salamanders for a sword (if you want to) but all of this isn't a problem since you can backtrack to the Greys camp and just rest whenever you please, assuming you sided with them like I did - I imagine a similar option exists when you side with Greens. Anyway, you end up meeting hags, then going up to face a buttload of cultists and a frost giant demon or whatever, the battle isn't hard, especially if you use a paladin convo special and summon a divine angel of skullfuckery to help you along, you spam some AOE's and that's it. Now you might be thinking naively like I was: "Hey, I'll just backtrack upstairs and rest again at the Greys camp." - the game at this moment goes like "NOPE LOL" and blocks off the section with random rubble forcing you to slog ahead. Then you face slimes, undead, floating eyes of mindrape, sharkmen, vampires on about each and every corner, including a 500hp black dragon and some cultists. You do get a singular campfire after about a dozen or so battles near these two NPC's I mentioned earlier but there's still so many battles tossed your way to the point you have to reload if your economy management of spells and abilities is fucked by bad rng or poor initiative - and this is even by backtracking constantly to those two NPC's to heal for money so you don't waste slots on restoration and healing spells. You do get a genie lamp with a wish that can give you a full rest but god knows if that would help me out at the moment considering my party really isn't optimal. Paladin being fundamentally broken by the looks of it doesn't help either. So all in all, campfires really seem few and far between. Oh, I forgot to mention that you also potentially face the hags as well, but that encounter is somewhat trivial if you get a certain demon on your side and is optional overall.

Just making sure. If I only have access to the game from heroicfantasy site and the new version comes out, I have to download the whole file, install the game and fuck around with folders? Why not release the small patch file?

Any save compatibility issues you guy have experienced between various updates?

EDIT: And the updated version isn't even on the site yet. Damn.
EDIT2: I search for KotC2 videos on YT every day, and this just came up:

I can see felipepepe in his steam friends list, and his channel is called GAME GOD FLUENT. Is it our Fluent ?

You are good player, since this fight is easy for you.
Giant has 28 SR, means most spells wont work and has Saves around 15-16 in each. He also hits (non-crit for 50) so gl trying to melee him, also uses each turn cone of cold.
Not to mention like 6 mages that spam fireballs and nauseating clowds. And several clerics that smite you.

I think the dialogue choice really determines how good or bad the combat will go for you. I had both the initiative choice + the angel which almost destroyed the giant in a single round with 5-6 smite attacks. Other than that, druid's quicksand did wonders on the left portion of the mages, holy smites, ice storms and fireballs + a single acorn of earthquake dealt with pretty much the entire remainder of the cultists.
