Listen up you little faggot jaylittle, we all know that you had something to do with it. You have obviously no knowledge of the KotOR & TSL modding community. If you did, you would have never done something like this. YOU'RE the little lazy-ass who won't wait for another 6 months or so for this mod. Team Gizka has worked their butts off, and they're entitled to release it when it's done. We have a little saying at Holowan Laboratories, which is where all of the KotOR and TSL modders discuss things. You should check out the Team Gizka thread right now. It's full of talk about hiring assassins and killing every one of you dirty faggots that contributed to this. Anyway back to the saying. WHEN IT'S DONE! This is our philosophy. We don't be faggots and steal someone else's work just so we can have a little bit of fun for a couple of hours. How would YOU feel if someone stole the work that you'd worked years on? now.

Sorry for being a bit, well how to say it, 'anal' about things here - but prior to you turning this into a anti-gay rant I wasn't that interested (apart from following the drama of course:)). As a consequence I'm now downloading the torrent, which I will leave to seed for fricken ages. For future occasions, maybe choose an insult from any of the following list: shithead, fuckstick, cockbrain, moron, fuckwit, asshole, skankyfuckingcuntingface, or heck even 'gay' has taken on enough of an alternative meaning these days - and you might get a little less, well, butthurt?

Bugs Found:

1) HK-50 encounters are bugged out the yin yang. I never even got the opportunity to get the HK factory. As I understand it, before this could occur you had to get ambushed by a group of HK-50s with HK-47 in your party. Though I tried to do this several times, each time resulted in HK-47 staring down one of the HK-50s and the scene would fade to black never to return again. The best way to work around this is to save before HK-50 encounters (as you can usually see them from a ways off), try it with HK-47 in the party (assuming they trigger when you get near), otherwise reload and try it again without HK-47.

2) As mentioned earlier, having Kreia as the active character on Nar Shadda as you were racing to rescue the exile results in the fade to black forever consequence as well. The workaround for this is simple: Make another character active during the Nar Shadda rescue segment.

3) When it came time to return to Atris' academy on Telos, the cutscenes between her and Kreia had a bit of a bug. Near the end, the camera would shift over to where your character was as if you were in conversation mode. No options were displayed, but the scene wouldn't continue until I hit 1 on the keyboard. Apparently there is some conversation prompt in the script even though no options are displayed for it. Easy enough to work around though.

4) As mentioned in Mantis, the encounter with Darth Nihilius is bugged relative to the new options, such as trying to become his apprentice. Engaging in this options and killing Visas results in the inability to continue as Nihilius is no longer hostile, but you cannot speak with him either. Things are just kind of stuck there or so it seems. The easy work around for this is to just kill the bastard and be done with it. I figure a bug fix for this would only result in a reversal from him and a battle without Visas. And god knows there are other ways to achieve the death of Visas there without going down the apprentice road.

5) I remembered getting the chance after saving/killing Atris when I first played the game way back as a lightside male to raid some of the holocrons. That didn't happen this time around when I murdered the bitch (sorry got a little darkside running through me after these scenes it would seem). Perhaps that is supposed to be that way, perhaps not. Thought it might be worth mentioning.
What's the point in playing leaked beta then? I can have all the fun bug-free a year later.

I think we have a nice, new candidate for the Dumbfuck title. A couple: Jaylittle and WanderingThrough2
Now, why do you think TSLRP is gonna end up being another KOTF? If you assholes actually looked at the TSLRP mantis, or even at the WIP's, you'd know the team has made considerable progress. Now, I'm not gonna yell like Sithspecter, but making acusations that TG has done nothing is like saying KOTF didn't accept donations. How do you think that the builds progressed from 1.0b1 to 1.0b2 (and so on...)? Magic? Well, kiddies, bad news; magic is as fake as Santa. Just the progress of the builds proves that the TSLRP team has done many amazing things.

@Jaylittle: Of course, the HK factory won't start up. KillerBob, the one you called the "Team-Goddess" has stated that there are several bugs, including blocking out the HK Factory, and some that can completely ruin gameplay.

As Aragorn would say: "We have time. Every day [TSLRP] moves closer to [release]."

I doubt that any of us can even doubt the reality of TSLRP after the many proofs, including this leak. We just have to exercise some patience for now. As a good friend once told me: Sometimes, the best things are the things we wait the longest for.

These little modding cliques are fascinating from a sociological standpoint.

Whatever the game is, you can bet at some point there will be someone who decides to do a star wars mod for it, for example. Then whoever the first one to decide to make a go of the mod will become the de facto mod leader, even if this person has basically no skill or talent of any kind, and if anyone else wants to make a star wars mod they will be demonized and it will lead to massive drama.

Plus these mods are almost always closed source and guarded very secretively. Why? If you are genuinely making something to benefit others and not as a twisted ego boost for someone who is deeply immature, what reason for this is there? For a bug fix, there really isn't any reason. Why should someone possibly have to formally join their team just to be able to work on fixing some of the bugs? If they put them out there int he open then doubtless they would have all been fixed long, long, LONG ago.

So you get some typical pompous forum cunts who have decided to make a bug patch for the game and sort of taken over the whole idea from everyone else as if it is some original idea to make a bug patch. By doing this they've assured no one else will poach on their territory by making a competing mod, and if they did you can bet there would be huge drama much like with the guy who's making the arcanum game patch. And then everyone has to wait...and wait...and wait...and wait.

How long has it been, five years now? If someone with more energy and/or competence had taken this on then it would have been done after a couple of months, as has been the case for many games that have been released in a similar state. Now no doubt when we DO finally get a release we will find half the 'bugs' they have fixed are not bugs at all but rewrites and changes of the type that pompous, self important forum cunts are known for, and if someone tries to make a patch without them using the original work then you know the current drama will make this look like nothing. Ask yourself how it's ok for them to make a mod on someone else's work, but not for someone to mod their own shoddy work. Seemingly it makes no sense, but you know what sort of hue and cry that would produce.

So in short, fuck you, team ghizka.

the obligatory tl;dr post

I registered for an account here just so I could comment in this thread.

I am sympathetic towards Team-Gizka's plight; at one point, I was doing weekly translations of a popular comic series only to have people go 'Where's the translation!?' less than 24 hours after the raws were leaked. It's frustrating, to say the least, and I can understand how T-G feels.

However, to compare my plight to theirs, I would release partial translations as I finished them; I made edits on the material I had already released. A quick-and-hasty translation gave other fans what they wanted, and I polished other bits of the translation (namely dialects, which are pretty difficult to recreate in another language) later on. I felt happy and motivated that so many people were enjoying the work I was doing, and I also had feedback from others who spoke the language who offered pointers or made alternate translation suggestions.

Do I understand why T-G chose to have a closed beta? Certainly. Do I necessarily agree with that decision? No. Do I think that creating an open beta would have exponentially increased the amount of bug reports, motivated them with positive feedback, and allowed other modders to make suggestions/offer feedback that would have essentially expedited the release? Definitely. And I have no doubt that as my translations improved with the criticism/aid of other translators, that the restoration patch would have burgeoned into a release of greater quality than what the Team-Gizka team and its closed beta team could do alone. Hopefully, this leak will serve to do what a closed beta couldn't: expedite bug reports, inspire interest, and allow other modders not involved with the project to offer their criticism/suggestions/help before the patch's final release.

Of course, this is only wishful thinking. Team-Gizka ultimately will be the ones to decide whether or not they want to take the assistance offered by the KoTOR II fan community, and turn what seemed to be an unhappy situation into something that results in a faster higher-quality release. I only hope that T-G will have the good sense to take the help offered to them, and that subsequently, fans will have the good sense to offer their assistance as soon as they know their help is being accepted--even if it's as small as reporting bugs.

For those who found this post tl;dr:
-Open beta would have created a higher quality patch that would have resulted in quicker completion through fandom unity.
-Hopefully, this leak inspires unity among the fans and results in a faster, higher-quality release--if T-G chooses to accept the help of the KoTOR II fandom community at large.

you see what's the problem with all who protect TG now, who acted like a bunch of faggots - you don't ask yourself a simple question.
instead of accepting the leak as something that has happened and accepting the reasons behind it (1.5 months without anything for beta-testers) - TG axed all beta-testers and left only 3 (oh this will speed up the project) - themselves. and started to whine about how 'this is OUR fucking project' and how they won't ever let any beta get leaked. this is fucking bizarre. I thought they were making TSLRP for people - but instead they act like they are making it for themselves. ok if you're making it for yourselves - fine. but why the fuck do you need a whole forum if you don't even want the people to play it or discuss the bugs in that leak - what is the point of having a website if you don't discuss anything except "oh we fixed/restored this. but we won't show you until it's done (next thursday)" there? for trolling?
shit I checked TG's forum and it is worse than ESF. I mean there was a guy who basically said "how about we take a legal action against TPB for hosting the torrent of this leak". now this is just lol. for many reasons.

damn Drog fixed more things in Arcanum during 3 months than TG did during 3 years. maybe Drog is doing it right (open beta) while TG is doing it wrong? at least we can get immediate feedback from Drog about the bugs without some freaking mantis with 2 bugfixes per month. and Drog needs just 1 sticky thread instead of the whole worshipping web-site to please his ego.

Hello there! I've been reading through the posts in this thread and all this nonsense about "torrenting". From the way it has been referenced thus far, I'm inclined to believe there is some sort of stigma attached to engaging in such an activity or that is perhaps even an illegal activity! As an IT/Internet professional however, I know of numerous ways to hide my identity on the internet, and as I have looked into the legality of this "torrenting" and found no law that explicitly prohibits it, I took the liberty of "torrenting" it, compressing it, and then uploading it to a well-known file hosting website in order to provide fans with a way to access this "mod" and simultaneously ease the conscience of those who have wished to possess it but do not wish to engage in an activity as wishy-washy as torrenting!

Enjoy! :)

This is what pisses me off. I did not make it clear in my original post, but the very existence of their project stymies any other project from starting. People ASSUME that they are working and will one day actually finish, and no one wants to waste their efforts making duplicate work.

For a popular game like kotor there are probably at least 4-5 drogs out there who have the actual talent required to get things done in a reasonable timeframe as well as the interest. Instead we get these whiny dickheads who have been dragging their feet half a decade and will probably make a patcht hat's utter crap when it finally is released.

Azrael is a gaylord lol

Yes well I was going to relax and read the new dramaz while taking it all up the...But I happened upon Skyway's post and so now I've stopped the torrent until some side breaks the homophobia deadlock:) By putting it up there I was probably engaging in arse...Banditry and piracy are serious problems and shoudln't be encouraged, my apologies to all I hurt, I really do suck...Cock-up it was, a real stuff up...My arse they weren't doing any work on it, I certainly couldn't find any bug...Gerimandering a forum debate is pretty silly, I'd be better off just going to a gay bar....Car key! My car key is missing! I'd better go have a look for that, and then go have some gay sex:)

(if that was confusing, just read it out aloud. It will become clearer...)

Actually, I'm not quite a gaylord - I swing both ways like a candle in the wind:) But I'm also happily married (to a woman) and monogomous, so it's pretty much a moot point - I doubt many gay folk would even accept me as bi anymore: living a purely hetero lifestyle and accepting heterosexual privilege and all that (my family and good friends know, but if you met me in real life you'd never ever pick me as anything but completely straight). But nonetheless, feel free to refer to me as 'my lord', and I'll try to remember to say 'Yeth my squire' whenever I respond.

[ok, do you think that's enough to troll up some more dramaz out of this thread?:)]

I am glad that you enjoyed the mod, even if it wasn't the finished product. :)

I trust t3h DRAMA can finally be put to bed with Dash's post on LucasForums (though, hopefully, you read my PM and my hours of slaving over it were not wasted -- I even illuminated the first letter)?

Edit: What was your favourite part, by the way? Party 'bickering' on Malachor V cannot be beaten. It's worth maltreating your companions just to get it.

Just ask the guy how many hours of his life he's throwing away on a daily basis. There are chicks to bang out there in Japan, I think.
And remember Killap. He doesn't progress as quickly as Drog but here he is (notice all these years he kept working on his patch). An he's not as bitchy.
(Wesp too is a great example of mature modding - sometimes)

Guys you are fucking stupid. When Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa, did he make it before a certain deadline? Fuck no, he made it exactly when he wanted. How would it have been for him if someone had stolen the Mona Lisa and put it in the Louvre before it was finished?
You can't force artists to finish their art. Art is an ephemere thing, it comes in waves and fluxes, at its own pace. I say we let Team Gizka take as much time as they want - and enjoy their content when they themselves finally decide to release it.

You are comparing a modding team to one of the greatest geniuses this world has ever seen. You, sir, are a dumbfuck.

This thread is priceless. Does it take to be an attention whore, drama queen cultist to become a modder?

It's unlikely I'll play KOTOR2 in foreseen months, but I am downloading the mod nonetheless. Just because I can :P

Downloaded it, though I won't be able to play any graphical RPGs for the next six weeks or so. If there is an official release by then I'll delete it, if not I'll play it. I'm grateful to Team Gizka for all the effort they have put into this, and it isn't fair that this was released without their consent, but fuck those whiny bitches for threatening to sue over this. I totally agree with Trash that they should just be trying to view this as a positive and a source of motivation, publicity and more bug reports.

They should have made it an open beta as soon as it was playable, like most other mods. Instead they are acting like they are devs and this is their game, trying to keep it super secret lest a bugged release harm their precious, precious reputation. Get some fucking perspective guys, it's a mod, you are modders. Not developers, not celebrities, modders restoring content. People expect early releases to be bugged, and anyone who bitched about that would be quickly reminded that you're volunteers and don't owe them shit, I'm sure.

That didn't sound very grateful did it? Well you'll just have to take my word for it, I AM grateful for what they have done, I just don't like their fucking stuck up attitude and the seeming contempt they have shown for all those that have followed their project.

From what I gather, there's not a whole lot of sex going on in Japan. Most are workaholics, and this is the country that invented air sex (men pretending to have sex with an imaginary partner in front of a group of men). Also, there's all that fucked up erotica that appeals to lonely, sexless nerds. I mean, they sell used panties in vending machines for fuck's sake.

Yes I consider the issue/drama closed now. Thanks for the PM. I've gotten a number of them along with emails so while I didn't respond, be assured that I did read it.

Yes the party bickering was quite nice. Most of my companions hated me due to extreme acts of douche-baggery that I had committed along the way, so watching them get pissed was quite fun. Even though I hit all the "high points" of being good such as saving Dantoonie or Onderon because in an RPG sense, my character was taking GOTOs threats of self destruction very seriously. Of course I made sure to do these things as evilly as possible.

jaylittle should be deified. You give an impression of an intelligent person and I hope you'll stay here at the Kodexxx. Sith Lords is a highly rated game in these parts and the significance of it and the characters, story and so it brings to the genre are not lost with us. Anyway though, you certainly convinced me to look at TQ as evil, insensible group who keep the improvement of KotOR 2 out of sheer stupidity and jealousy.
