lol
well yeah why they'd need to rush it. it was only 3.5 years since they started to make it. let's continue to fix 1 bug per month guys, don't rush it.

Poor Obsidian. First Lucasarts pushed them into releasing K2, then Atari with NWN2. I can already see evil SEGA doing it again in the future.

I don't think it's technically possible for TSLRP to become "rushed" at this point.

So your saying that the ideal modder is one who has no life? The way your sounding, most people on the interwebz have no life except the interwebz. I've only met one young man like that.
The "When Its Done" means that TG isn't gonna do what Lucas Arts did to Obsidian, and rush it, which caused all the cut content anyways. Which would you rather have? A half-assed release that doesn't appeal to the audience, but is released sooner, or a near perfect mod with only a few bugs that is released later?

You seem to have plenty of time to jawbone about it and make excuses. Shit or get off the pot and someone more competent will make their own mod in one tenth the time.

I just can't believe someone can be stupid enough to say releasing the mod now would be 'rushing' it. It's been in development for about 3 years and all work done during the last year has been minimal to negligible. If you want people to stop criticising Team Gizka, why don't you do some fucking work. Or put KOTOR2 fans out of their misery by actually being honest enough to say, 'Ok, guys, this isn't going to be released after all'.

No. I'm saying the ideal modder has a healthy balance that allows him or her to not string along the community.

False dichotomy. I'll take option C, more open development & public betas that iterate at a reasonable pace, thanks.

Who cares if it's 'near-perfect' if 'later' is so far into the future that we'll have to use Dosbox to get the game running?

I was considering using that term, but thought people might have a harder time understanding it. Dumbed down to appeal to the masses, like so much other stuff these days.

If Team Gizka had adopted a proper development model instead of being a bunch of whiny little princesses TSLRP could have been done 2 years ago.

I can understand that they wont let random people implement content because they have some sort of grand artistic vision for the end result but why not accept bugfixes?
Why restrict yourself to 3 fanboys as testers when you have a potential testerbase of several dozen at least?

The best thing they could do for themselves and for the project is just say "fuck it" and make everything open from now. I mean, at this stage what's the point of continuing closed beta, when everyone has access to the rough version of the final content. Not only that, but a testing team of three people? Yea, that's a good way to make things take even longer and further blueball your fans.

There's probably someone else already working on it and releasing the mod before TG does. That would be so sweet, specially if this other person's work is better than TG's.

No doubt, to the great annoyance of you drama queens I have downloaded the thing and am playing it. So long faggots. Tell me how big of a crime that is.

Maybe you missed the last 8 pages but only a few "drama queens" have been bitching about the leak. Most people are bitching about TG's PR and slowpoke pace.

I just want to *facepalm* so hard when I read through this thread. I can't believe so many people are bashing TG for working too slowly.

What a bunch of fucking morons. Don't like the pace TG is working at? Write your own goddamn mod. Nothing's stopping you.

Except for the fact that TG is already making this mod.

That shouldn't stop you. There's enough support for it in this thread alone that finding a team of crack modders to work on it should be no trouble. If you really think you could get together a team that could make a better mod than TG in less time, then fucking do it.

You just don't get it, do you? TG set up forums and teased with trailers. They purposely attracted attention. And they treated their fans shit. They acted like they were actual developers by not giving a release date when they should have confessed that virtually no work was being done. Instead they just locked every thread asking their reasons ala Bioware Stalinist forums.

They are just immature idiots. Their reaction on that released beta version says it all. Let's stiffle all dissent and lock every thread about it. let's try and sue the guy that leaked it. Let's just sack all the testers. Let's make sure that once again all a mod group is known for is drama and unprofessionalsim. Well, they succeeded.

I don't want to write my own mod. I also don't particularly want their mod, but their mod will stifle other people from working on something similar, and a true restoration only is something I'm interested in, though I don't thinkt hat's what we'll get.

It's like someone setting up circleof9.com and making patches for toee. No one would possibly do that, and if they did it would cause earthshattering DRAMA like with the wesp thing.

Instead it's as if the circle of 8 folks said, ok we have three guys NO MORE PEOPLE CAN JOIN. Then they sat on their results and released nothing for several years and didn't even work on it for about a year at one point. Fortunately we got some sane people who put out several patchs within 2 weeks of toee's release, making it go from an unplayable mess to a fun game with great combat and kinda crappy quests.

O RLY?
Ok then, I'd like to see you make the mod from scratch, making scripts, restoring VO, fixing bugs.

If you all go out and bitch about TG's slowness, try having a Real Life. Try juggling school, girlfriends/boyfriends/spouses, and modding. If ANY of you have the balls (which I doubt) to make this mod in a tenth of the time, then go ahead. I'll be waiting. So will most of the TSL community.

Just because you can't see their progress, doesn't mean it isn't happening. If you can't see the progress and you don't believe its happening, then I suppose you don't believe in air either.

@Closed Beta: Which would you rather have? A bunch of people bitching about the same goddamn problem in the mod, or have a small group of trusted people calmly reporting bugs? I personally would like the small group of trusted people over the public beta.

Waiting 4 years for a mod and hearing little or nothing about it isn't progress. It's at best annoying and at worst vaporware. If the beta team releases their version there is bound to be something wrong.

They seem to do it extremely calmly. You know that many hands tend to make work a lot less lighter? But deep inside you allready know that, you are just defending TG out of some misguided loyalty.

How curious; for once I agree with TWD. "U DUN HAEF A LIEF!!!" is pretty much the last resort of the idiot who's run out of anything resembling a coherent argument.
