Not openly, I don't think so. They are testing multiplayer in closed alpha. I think the next major update should bring it live.

Well you called it a "castrated" D2 clone. It's definitely not "castrated" when compared to D2. Hell, the skills are not bad at all. I actually prefer Last Epoch's skills over PoE's insane bloat that suffers from power creep.

Any news on 1.0 release?
No. And next patch is 0.9, multiplayer. Still in closed testing.

Otherwise, you'll probably have to watch the regular "dev streams" for more current news. I'd rather they just write short updates than do shitty streams but yeah ... 2 hours long, fucking hell, I'm NOT watching that. :argh:

From 11 November dev stream (thankfully pointed out in comments): no timeline for patch 0.9.

lol, what's going on with this gay-purple colour scheme?
It's the main color besides black for this "Void" thingy in the game. Which is a bit like "the Warp" in Warhammer, or similar concepts in other games/settings.

Anyways, looking at that patch date announcement, I guess we won't have a warlock class before 2024.

Necromancy would be so much better without colorful mist/light effects. It's magical enough that a corpse moves on its own.

Hm, interesting approach to only allow gifting of items that dropped in that same instance. That's nice. I'm sure the pro-trade people will be disappointed. I think this allows for some positive interactions, but avoids all the pitfalls of a trade economy as seen in, e.g., PoE. Anyways, I'm still waiting for Warlock. :argh:

Are spells in this game 100% determined by the weapon? If not, I maybe check out.

Nearly all skills/spells are determined by class and level.

Only some few isolated cases are granted by unique items (and I think all of those are auto-cast).

Imho better way would be to allow trade only to your friends. And by friend it means playing with someone in coop for at least 2-3 hours. You could trade all items when you play together at the time of playing but only trade outside of instance after those 2-3 hours. Moreover server could track actual progress as in killed monsters, zones moved etc. so no AFK cheating.

Trading in such games works best when you trade with someone you know and you as buyer know that person who receives something in return can use it to help himself.

POE case clearly has shown that even old type of trading with chat can break game when enough people are involved.

Either that or some kind of ridiculous sink but that would have it's own imho worse set of issues.

Yes, that might work, if they are careful to make the limit high enough and track progress carefully.

The big issue would probably be to avoid that a small number of highly-connected accounts are set up. I.e., 'trade' accounts with friend-status towards a large number of 'normal' accounts. These would then function as a trade interface, without the need for any further interaction after initial time investment.

You can probably suppress that with a high enough initial investment (i.e., progress/hours played). But probably more than 2-3 hours.

Requires 3rd-Party Account: Last Epoch (Supports Linking to Steam Account)

Why?
Probably for their social features like chat, cosmetics and ladder. I'm pretty sure they said they want to have a full offline mode by release.
