Lots of people voting 2B ITT: Remember what happened when our first character tried to "appeal" to his men? They shrugged and said stfu bro lets just get on with the nurgling shitting.

Remember when our first char was a Limpwrist flipflop McFaggot who wanted to go balls to the wall then tucked his balls between his legs to simulate his ownership of a vagina when he got there? Yeh. Don't be that guy.

I didn't vote to attack the Hullghasts, but we did. Now we have to stick to the char that we have. Don't suddenly pussify yourselves because of some heretics.

Slight tweak to Jick_Magger:

1: We've already led men against insurmountable odds (the hullghasts) and won, we should stick to our guns and be a death or victory soldier. Shouldn't chop and change our character.

A: Where Holt executes the men under his command, we will inspire the men with discipline and faith in our abilities, as we did those in the Black Hold. The Sergeant and others will be able to spread the word of Schafer the Redeemer, and convince the Forlorn Hope that all hope is not lost with Schafer around.

Edit- RE: 1A: Remember everyone, we've got a squad of fanatics including our sergeant as a "personal bodyguard", they will inspire the men with tales of our deeds in the Black Hold, and hopefully encourage them to seek redemption on the battlefield. If we pussy foot around, our fanatics might just lose their faith in our abilities and they'll become jaded like the rest of the men. We need to use our current achievements to further inspire a larger force.

Y: Holt has pushed his authority too far, he needs to be reigned in, but was respect to tactical decision making. We're no longer Limpwrist McQuartermasterbator, no need to be totally deferential toward him, and Z seems more likely to get us BLAMMED. If we have to draw these heretics out, and heavy casualties are expected, we hold the Baneblade in reserve and roll it over the top of the enemy when the infantry have flushed them out. No need for the Commissar to be rattling around in it getting it gunked up with corrosive atmospheric conditions.

It's eerie, but I find myself in total agreement with ironyuri here.. Has Hell frozen over? :M

Anyways, count this as another vote for

We should see the situation before getting too aggressive (applies to both B & Y). Hopefully the story of us and the inquisitor is known as well, otherwise our new band of black hold brothers can vouch for us to the men.

A Beautifully Desolate Campaign
Respect will only get us so far if we're actively trying to undermine his authority, especially if we're making bad decisions at the same time. Trying to overstep our luck by jumping immediately from 'barely surviving a Hullghast and witch attack' to 'Going out of our way to piss off the guy with more authority than us and a licence to execute freely' isn't a good idea at all.

That might be true, but we're not trying to undermine him. We simply have differing opinions about how to use the Baneblade. He won't BLAM us for simply having a different opinion, unless our opinion leeds to cowardice, heretic deeds or trying to do some cloak and dagger stuff. He might be higher up the food chain, but not high enough to be able to kill every single guy that steps on his toes. He has a job after all, and we're here and going to do exactly what was asked of us - leading the Forlorn Hope Squad into battle fearlessly in the emperors name. Until we give him reason to shoot us for being unloyal, unfaithful cowardly or corrupted, we're good to go.

If you're gonna go with Z, we'll have to basically make nothing but absolutely brilliant decisions from here on out, because Holt will be looking for any excuse to BLAM! Us and have us replaced.

How does that make it any different from our situation as it is now? We are leading a group of men who are expected to bear the brunt of the assault and die. Odds of survival are unlikely no matter what we do, and I'd much rather take our chances with Holt than be horribly under-equipped when we're on the battlefield. Pissing him off will have consequences, sure, but when we make it through we can make amends later. Right now we need to give our men some sort of fighting chance here.

I dunno, Z souns like we'd be using the Baneblade as OUR personal vehicle, in spite of LC Holt. I figure Y is the least dick option. We should hold the baneblade in reserve for a surgical strike when we have the hereitcs engaged and flushed into the open by infantry, OR if they dig in we roll over their positions with it. No point using it as our personal vehicle. We're Schafer the Redeemer of the Black Hold, our Faith in the Emperor is our shield, not 3 inches of plate steel.

This situation doesn't compare in the least with that of our previous character because captain Shepard is nothing like the late lieutenant. For one thing, he doesn't suck and knows how to act like an officer. 2B means doing our job as a guardsman and an officer - do our mission but don't make stupid unnecessary risks with the lives of our men. 1 is just throwing the lives of soldiers under our command away for the sake of playing a hero, and A is just going to make our men hate us even more then Holt. Friendly fire incident, here we come.

Forlorn hope or not, these men are under our command now and should not be wasted pointlessly. Balls-to-the-walls approach is all fine and good when you are a private with only your life at stake (not to mention a fate point to spend), but now we are in a different situation and we should adapt to it.

Before I vote I've got a question is "A" ruthless a "Sir the first line just got slaughtered! Fine, send in the next one, bury them with you bodies." ruthless or "You will sweat with blood men, but if you listen to me you'll pull through all of this" ruthless.

That doesn't change the fact that Shepard has been frothing-at-the-mouth Lord Redeemer up until now. and root has repeatedly pointerd out we get ourselves killed because we keep flip-flopping every second update. So mellowing out the second we get a command is probably not a good idea.

How is this flip-flopping? Our character was a common private until now, and we are only now setting what kind of officer he is (apart from one that doesn't abandon the men under his charge as seen by fighting with the mutants and then vouching for them). And speaking of flip-flopping, what do you call NOT shooting the Inquisitor after choosing the background in which we shot our CO in the face? Or leaving our comrades to die in the refinery and then fighting with the mutants? Or vouching for the corrupted mutants after purging their corrupted comrades in the same background? And yet we are still alive (for now).

Let's face it - just grimly hanging on to a single course of action in every circumstance is just as likely to end in disaster as flip-flopping all the time.

2 - being the Reedemer is one thing, going smartly about it is another.
A - no use trying to tone down our rep.
Y - both X and Z are BLAM induced suicide options. X is sucking up to Holt and he doesn't care much for that. Z is antagonising Holt for no good reason.

Gosta find our golden mean, man. Last time we were too cowardly and now we seem to be heading towards becoming suicidally courageous. And a live servant of the emperor is always more valuable than a dead fool.

And yeah, let's not act humble about our reputation. After all, just look at Ciaphas Cain, he always toned down his rep and he died a complete nobody.

edit: B seems very appealing but we haven't really acted that much like a leader of men. We got our position by being wildly fanatical. That said there's also the possibility to be more concerned with our men, we are a Medicus afterall (how exactly did we become such a foaming at the mouth officer when we are a trained Medicus?)

edit2: ok flipping to B, let's say our innate personality is one of compassion given our fucking training.
