Some shit happens. Rebels everywhere, some raiding, some events. Severe economic hardship, etc, etc. Banal shit boring. After some years of peace, chasing rebels, and improving our military, Chingis Khan, confident in the state of the Khanate, sends the declaration of war to the chinks. Victory or death.

eu3game2010-09-1117-14-31-81.jpg

The chinks outnumber us just over 5-1. We have a vast general and troop superiority, as well as superior maneuverability, but a direct confrontation would end in utter failure. Instead, Chingis opts for a scorched earth campaign letting the steppe do what his soldiers cannot.

eu3game2010-09-1117-14-39-16.jpg

The Gooks loyally follow us into war. They wont be much use in the actual fighting, but their large amounts of infantry will be useful in the sieging process, and will save us a lot of time and manpower.

eu3game2010-09-1117-23-24-42.jpg

The Ming begin sieging our border provinces, they send their giant 30k man doomstack to siege Ordos. They take it immediately but the attrition still kills a massive chunk of their force before the month is even over. Meanwhile i gather all our forces in the capital in order to quickly sweep out and rout the smaller stacks, so i can focus on destroying the mega doomstack before it does too much damage.
The Khan dies but for some reason i don't get a succession crisis, not sure why. The new Khan is an even better general than his father, with 6/6/2/0(6 being the highest for each stat besides the last one)

eu3game2010-09-1117-24-24-34.jpg

Our defenders hold against the smaller stacks well, while our 10k stack of cavalry routs two equally large forces of chinks without much difficulty.

:salute:

lolololololololol

After that encouraging display, i quickly move to dislodge the Ming doomstack, who have been quickly cut down by the huge attrition. The faggots flee before i can get to grips with them, presumably to reinforce. It gives me some reprieve at least, so i can take back my southwestern provinces. Korea is laying siege to a province on the eastern border but i forgot to take a screen of it.

eu3game2010-09-1117-28-13-08.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-28-26-28.jpg

A horde of familiar southern gooks pour out of the Ming border. some small Ming armies follow them and siege some provinces. I send my army to thrust the gooks out and crush the sieging armies, so i can retake my provinces.

eu3game2010-09-1117-29-07-41.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-30-00-18.jpg

An event gives me a single infantry regiment to thrust out a tiny besieging army. These are nice events that prevent countries from just spamming tiny armies everywhere to stop the besieged from rebuilding their forces. The Khan slaughters 6000 gooks for only 200 or so of his soldiers, but jewbucket decided to break the picture. They are routed.

eu3game2010-09-1117-30-14-44.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-30-37-59.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-31-01-11.jpg

Suck on that, Gooks. :salute:

I organise sieges of the taken provinces, whilst crushing another small Ming stack. Somehow the chinks managed to take one of my provinces in less than 90 days without assaulting, so i send my main force to deal with them.

eu3game2010-09-1117-31-17-30.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-31-38-40.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-33-06-08.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-33-16-97.jpg

Suddenly though, the chink doomstack appears, heavily reinforced. I go the long way around in order to avoid it.

eu3game2010-09-1117-33-39-10.jpg

Thankfully, i quickly retake my southwestern territory.

eu3game2010-09-1117-35-36-02.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-35-02-91.jpg

On the southwestern flanks a small army of mine crushes some Ming, but i forgot to take pics. I let the army lay siege over there. Meanwhile, after some maneuvering around, i engage the Ming mega doomstack.

eu3game2010-09-1117-39-22-22.jpg

bearshark.jpg

:salute:

Now that Ming's armies are crushed, they can't muster anyy large stacks at me. Due to their vast size and wealth, they can still spam hordes of infantry regiments at me though, so i need to be careful. My manpower will hold, but reinforcement slows down significantly further away from home.

I begin laying siege.
eu3game2010-09-1117-40-19-77.jpg

The war screen really tells the whole story. We now outnumber Ming, and along with Korea we outnumber Ming 2-1. Ming is still vastly wealthier, has more manpower, and can spam troops quickly though, so there is still a ways to go.
eu3game2010-09-1117-42-03-27.jpg

A new heir is born. His administrative skills suck, but he is a military and diplomatic genius, so he will be suitable for finishing the conquest of China when the current Khan dies.

eu3game2010-09-1117-42-28-67.jpg

I lay siege to Shuntian. This will become our capital when we establish our own dynasty in China.
eu3game2010-09-1117-43-39-29.jpg

Some chink armies are routed. We also take our first Ming province.

eu3game2010-09-1117-44-03-94.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-44-20-75.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-44-55-39.jpg

More victories. This is slowly draining our armies. We're crushing them, but they reinforce much faster than us.

eu3game2010-09-1117-45-55-06.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-46-13-36.jpg

A new Ming Emperor ascends to the throne. He has 5 shock, so he's a match for our generals. I attack an army he's leading and take a large amount of casualties. This might be troublesome.

eu3game2010-09-1117-46-28-66.jpg

Our administration improves thanks to the new Khan's efforts.

eu3game2010-09-1117-46-46-22.jpg

We take Shuntian, but i forgot to take a screen. Our Aristocracy also becomes supremely butthurt for some reason. No matter, if they try anything i'll crush them and have the men sodomise them to death.

eu3game2010-09-1117-49-18-84.jpg

Meanwhile, the friendly gooks are busy taking some provinces for us. Vassalising them was a really good idea, they're freeing up men from sieges so i can crush Ming armies and take cities at the same time.

eu3game2010-09-1117-49-46-47.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-50-04-38.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-51-16-75.jpg

Casualties start mounting. I'm forced to head back to friendly territory to reinforce. Unfortunately this also gives Ming the opportunity to rebuild their forces somewhat. I still have plenty of men and manpower, but they are busy up north besieging cities.

eu3game2010-09-1117-52-48-23.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-53-02-52.jpg

Chinks and allied gooks begin pouring out of southern China to push me back on the Southwestern front. They attack my Korean allies.
eu3game2010-09-1117-54-07-39.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-54-34-52.jpg

Some cities fall.

eu3game2010-09-1117-53-56-12.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-54-59-55.jpg

I move my replenished army to aid the Koreans against an advancing force of 6000 southern gooks. The Korean infantry is severely mauled, but the cavalry is thankfully completely unscratched.

eu3game2010-09-1117-55-12-14.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-55-42-66.jpg

I send my troops after them, but my general dies on the march and the gooks are reinforced by Ming troops. I am forced to flee. It is the first Mongol defeat of the war, and it stings. Thankfully though another Ming city falls, healing the wound slightly.

eu3game2010-09-1117-56-31-51.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-56-56-34.jpg

I decide to recruit a new general to lead my forces on the southeastern flank. He's a rage crazed hate machine. He will make Codexia proud.

eu3game2010-09-1117-57-14-67.jpg

More victory.

eu3game2010-09-1117-57-28-39.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-57-47-56.jpg

Hordes of small regiments swarm over the southwestern flank. I bring the Khan's army over to push these chinks out, but not before they retake some forts.

eu3game2010-09-1117-58-30-48.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1117-58-38-61.jpg

I batter some chinks around a lot. Not much to say at this point. The Gooks also take over some more cities for me.

Rebels begin taking over Southern China, and i crush some more armies. I didn't get any screes because Fraps decided to silently turn off. The state of China and the Khanate by the 19th of January 1472.

Awww... Anyway, how wide is the technological difference in MM? Would you stand any chance against the European powers? Or is it the standard modernize westernize stuff from the core game?

That's a bug i think, Comrade Conkrete. If anything Magna Mundi dramatically slows pop growth. What version of Magna Mundi are you using, and what expansion and patch version are you using for vanilla EU3?

Regarding tech. All tech groups have the same tech rates, but the more backwards tech groups have lots of negative tech modifiers. These are overcome in various ways, to prevent modernizing from being one simple decision. Horse nomads are completely fucked, for Gov 8 it says i'll get there by 1997. Hopefully this will change after the conquest of China, though. The starting differences between tech groups is a lot different. Moslems are the most advanced, with Asians just behind, whilst Indians, Indonesians, Native Central and Southern Americans, and Europeans are completely fucked. Europeans tech the fastest though so they eventually overtake everyone. New World goods have been made much much more valuable, so the discovery of the New World is much more significant to European development.

Eu complete + httt.
Mint fresh installation, outside of the programs folder.
The newest Beta patch (the one that is linked to).
Magna Mundi 1.26

It is of course Windows Vista 64 bit, so that might be the problem in itself.
And yes, I was pretty sure it was a bug, albeit one that does not seem common.

I do recall seeing threads about people with similar problems, even on different mods. It probably has something to do with the changed pop growth in relation to vanilla. Check the Defines text file in Europa Universalis III/Mod/MagnaMundi Ultimate/Common, it has the base pop growth at the bottom. You could try changing it to the vanilla pop growth which is 0.03. Make sure to backup the file first.

Thanks for the help :D
At least that way I knew that the file with the growth was not missing (which was what I expected).
In the end a new install helped fix the problems.

So now the real question is: Papal state or knights?
Going to kill me some heathens.

Bros gotta help bros, bro.

Due to the way the exploration and colonial system works it's unlikely any countries besides a few select European countries will do any colonising until late game, so probably not. Going west will only be possible after China is ours, especially considering how much infamy i'm going to have after Ming is annexed. Another update later tonight, although it's probably not going to be that big.

Sorry this update is so short bros, i have shit to do today.

When we left our intrepid Khan and his soldiers, he was campaigning across northern China.

eu3game2010-09-1122-23-09-91.jpg

The Ming have managed to rebuild their forces with the aid of their Gook allies. They slowly managed to gather small regiments in southern china and build up a moderately big force. It is not a significant army, but it is a dangerous match for my depleted forces.

eu3game2010-09-1200-46-59-69.jpg

They are still defeated in several engagements, but the mounting casualties take their toll and drive our war exhaustion up. I may have to make peace and take China in several bites.

But alas, after taking some more Ming provinces, rebellions begin sprouting up all over China, combined with skyrocketed WE and a new Ming resistance i am forced to pull back.

Suddenly, a Ming force of about 6000 men appears out of Western China and overruns our weary forces. I am forced to bring my entire army to bear on them. We win, but at a cost of many brave Mongols.

:salute::salute::salute:

An occupied province of Mongol culture defects to us. It has wealthy Confucian temples which i choose to plunder in order to keep our economy afloat. These events will be very important for our war efforts when we begin demanding territory.

eu3game2010-09-1201-08-05-53.jpg

Suddenly, a force of 8000 Ming soldiers springs out of Southern China and inflicts a stinging defeat on our forces. In order to preserve our military i am forced to make peace at this point, lest they take the momentum and push us back.
eu3game2010-09-1201-20-52-02.jpg

eu3game2010-09-1201-23-39-74.jpg

Thankfully, about a third of the taken territory is cored, due to the wealthy neighbors event. This should significantly lower the pain when Dayan dies and i get a tribal succession crisis.

The redrawn Mongol/Ming borders:
eu3game2010-09-1201-23-56-52.jpg

I could declare my dynasty in China at this point, but that would remove my tribal horde CB. It would also begin the settling process too early, causing huge bouts of instability when i really need a focused military effort to eradicate Ming. I'll remain tribal, and take the pain, it's the non-popamole thing to do.

P.s: It's only polite to comment on an LP when the LPer updates it, no matter how banal that comment is. Be a bro, comment.

Oh sorry, derp a derp, misread your post. Yeah, install EU3 Complete, then HTTT, then patch it, then find the latest beta patch (it's on the Pirate Bay and the official Paradox forums) then dl the latest version of Magna Mundi Ultimate off the forums in the mod section on Paradox's EU3 forums. That should do it.

I believe You are going to run Your country into then ground with overextension... Still a very ambitious LP I must say.

Go for new dynasty (leave tribal government!) and dont worry about CBs.

Popamoler! I shall do no such thing. The Great Khagan of the steppe will settle for nothing less than complete conquest of China(although due to some events i've been getting it is a bit pointless to stay tribal)

Also, your bout with the Ming has been surprisingly popamole, so far. Last time I've tried to surprisebuttsecks them as the Japs, they've been throwing endless hordes of 10k moles at me. But carry on, I'm curious about how the horde administration fares under the strain of constant expansion. :salute:
