Oh shit, this is beginning to look like Occasionally Fatal's run.
Exactly like his run. (though I take a defensive position)
The results are slightly better. No hits.

So I feel I have a pretty good rep going on. Anyway, clean work as usual. :salute:

update 15: Deimos lvl 3, RNG makes a mistake

music (music in later levels just indeed repeat, a bit sad)

DFA009E8C6B7F56DC61B06C36E6DDCC7F54DD99B

0B10AC09B9116ED8CAB6FDD21A38812BFDF77F79

The level starts with our envirosuit on and there we see a slight distinction between water and acid.

5E228491A966CE7588325C2E651CEDE48421C2C8

Power mod spotted, that did not take long at all.

6F96717472D72233F04A83F81D0474C9B03DB00C

Demons spotted, more than one.

4C82940047079101CACF308657E6EAD5ABA3D8D2

A lot of demons show up. This may be a demon only map, it's about time we had some fun. The shotgun works really well but I don't really try to kill them, just enough damage for a 1 shot melee is enough.

F689C1F905776253C795D2D14C40E167F7E99F6A

FEDBB5561164962C084B6541156B06243A0E68CE

When suddenly I realize, there is acid over there! Let's see them die walking over it.

596EC6D3883426A43703F287D619EDBCCF7B801B

2F673E5A8E78476C3665FF09857FEB1BC1E8FC71

There's not enough acid unfortunately, but it does the trick.

96A88EDE1369E95D7840DEF9D6AA2274165E7673

What a satisfying beginning to the level.

069D9C893720A71BD397654875674BF220654A12

9F697D7995A2769C56E50617333994A33E661C9C

As we explore the rest of the level it becomes obvious by the layout we are not in a demon-only level, a shame.

5456842A74BC6825855BDAC8F291BD6A8F18A74E

F4B782B01E8309FF551283C834F25488579C74F6

You wouldn't believe it, but a single shotgun blast kills them both. The assault shotgun just makes me feel really safe, and it's not even upgraded.

1729E953EA939C13513F9FBDB634F1DEE2D59DA4

DAFA534561255123662806FEF63396509C8F3D22

Great level for killing. A few barrels, but it's no big deal. What is interesting is that some of them are already lava barrels.

D6AAA3031717BBF1CD0EC9DD14A79113D6D5EF0D

While reloading with not a care in the world, a hell knight takes us by surprise. It was a close one as he almost blew the barrel.

68C19589FDB591CAA6174DEFEB9FA6AB0F4E6525
Yeah, mid-range shotgun fight! I think it finally goes in my favor when...

D7E4DC4E0118B5D93BEEC2E9D3C52939EBC3C898

BC0448B05CEFE7E3749805BF797B2199B70AE031

He retreats and comes back at full health. I bet he used a large medpack.
:x

4B05A76F5E0A11E67CB09465300748A4D14E4C56

5F6DAD2B6F97D039EFAB8FE74F7836D807A1295D

We resume dispensing countless shells into his thick hide. note to self: USE A CHAINGUN AGAINST HELL KNIGHTS. Some habits die hard.

3E27FCA1C7D0EFFE72B0856324CF2BC7740F95B0

Hey, a red armor. It really didn't take long to get the items we wanted from last level.

16B904C1AC9A264F7438793AEE49C84EB078CC6C

And a large medpack, ok all is forgiven RNG.

D5F2B8B651C516A7120CE0B338C5E411FC34DB09

And we clear the level. It seems the RNG decided again to send 10 demons at me at spawn and then have nothing for the rest of the level.

F1EA7B82178476E322E73B5BF3AC6B09BB4DEED2

C67254B38BF779EAB9AF14E8904DCBDA61C15A0D

The red armor is very interesting. We now have an onyx mod, a power mod and a red armor, all of the incredients necessary to make the Tower Shield. It's really a powerful armor. But I don't want to anymore. I'm changing direction of this ship.

2A81AFB486F7AB6024F56768A7F230091B1C1733

Instead what we're going to do is kill the RNG once and for all in its sleep (shh, don't tell it). We will try to assemble a fireproof armor and then use an onyx pack on it to make it indestructible. With Malicious Blades, we will have a total of 105% fire resistance permanently. Say goodbye to revenants, mancubus and archviles. Say goodbye to luck. I can't wait for the day. It's one of the most exciting builds I've ever done.

739B00D98AA03BC1F5545665811CA2FB9A61ACA9

The power mod is used on our BB chaingun and used to assemble the burst cannon. It's one of the few advanced assemblies I know.

955DD616865A9AA59AFE836694BCCF8E932574E3

Take a look at this badboy now. With 0-2 extra damage and 2 extra shots, it's as if we had 1 additional rank of son of a bitch and 2 additional ranks of triggerhappy. It should be really powerful.

D801DF74AC2FF70F4ED8780DB8F9B7CFD48DBBE0

The Halls of Carnage is next. More fun than a real threat, maybe we will remember to switch to the burst cannon versus hell knights.

F6C7FA4C1B0F2A7ABA51AFACF88677939CD83C04

Final inventory, things got changed again, I just can't stay put!

Final Grade: B
Some sloppiness against the hell knight but the level really wasn't challenging.

OK, I'm jelly. Clearly I need to work with assemblies more.

I had a similar build before, but with power armour instead. Fire immune, AND melee immune (or close enough). Only troublesome thing was plasma and acid.

There is another way to find higher assemblies... but unless you're fucking godlike at the game it's not very practical. I've gotten a handful of the advanced assemblies this way and none of the master ones.

I need to play nightmare more, lol. Hell's Armony is quite reliable in giving powerful schematics from time to time.

:rage:

Was having a blast playing a melee/shotgun build on the Angel of Light Travel challenge (5 inventory slots, +20% movement speed) on HMP, RNG had been very kind to me, gifting me with an assault shotgun, super shotgun and duellist armor... then I had the foolishness to enter the vaults with no armour, no med packs, no ammo and only the longinus spear to keep me company. Suffice to say, that didn't end well. I also found two sniper packs on the run, which were completely useless.

The build:
Class : Marine

Tough as nails (Level 2)
Brute (Level 3)
Berserker (Level 1)
Badass (Level 2)
Vampyre (Level 1)

Bad->Bru->Bru->Ber->TaN->MVm->TaN->Bru->Bad->

Man, that's such a shame, Light Travel isn't easy. The Vault is so deadly I usually avoid it, what made you go there?

Your story about the Angel of Light Travel is almost as bad as mine. When my mortuary shows up you'll see what I mean . I don't know how I remember but I won that challenge with an identical Vampyre build to yours.

Arrogance. I think I had a pretty warped perspective on how difficult Mancubi and Revenants are from my plasma build. The melee build also made me respect arachnotrons something fierce. I just had another crack at it, this time I died from carelessness getting into fist fights with demons and barons of hell instead of using my chainsaw .

Man, even on the "normal" difficulty I still suck. I can consistently make it to the wall, then I get gibbed. Hard. Guess I just have to man up and try again. :salute:

Made it past the wall, but only just. The RNG screwed me over on shotgun ammo, but gave me enough medkits to see me through. Unfortunately, they were all spent at the wall. Am now at level 13 of the Phobos base with only a single small med-pack. On the up-side, I just found my first plasma rifle. That lifted my spirits some. Finally a reason for lugging around all thsoe power cells. :M
Now to get myself stupidly killed. :salute:

Best bet is to nuke him with the BFG around corners. The AOE is so enormous it's impossible to miss, and you can't hurt yourself with it.

I find it amusing my melee/low inv runs are more reliably successful than any other build I've tried, but I suppose the 20% or so speed boost to your actions makes a big difference.

Yeah, I'd been avoiding the special levels with said character, so I hadn't gotten the BFG. I avoided the levels due to having no medipacks, but in any future runs, I'll do them, if for nothing else, to test myself (and die horribly in the process). :salute:

My word, the mortuary is difficult. /death of another character

And the cyberdemon easily killed my otherwise promising technician. :salute:

BFG. It solves a lot of problems. I hate bosses, they can kill you so easily, you go through a supply of 5+ medpacks so quickly with them. I really like to use phase devices against bosses so that you can reload and heal. The mortuary is really hard too, the only way to beat it is to take advantage of all the health lying around in its 4 corners. Still very hard, really makes you hate arch-viles.

Best mortuary clear ever was with a pistol build. Feels so badass. But generally, yeah, spam the fuck out of that BFG. Gibs the corpses for you. Rockets help too if you're out of BFG ammo.

update 16: Deimos lvl 3, distracted

music

3BF48C82C9905687DE0BE7BF84148A83C0B07617

So apparently the Halls of Carnage is the easiest special level. There's nothing to fear at all. We even get a supercharge globe of all things to start things off. Let's count these for good fun, supercharge globe count: 1.

81A3692B151FC77B953E8ACED69FA04AB2AD99D4

5781A45A1B9CDDAFE4BE0A8B473073D926336D09

The level is known for having incoming lava kinda like a super mario level, but it's no threat on our difficulty level.

6E6DC537C359058DEA4D2A93D681A207A141842B

A weird level. The first part has nothing but shotgun formers.

9757C379ACE95F528C11602E264ABE094A5F22A3

EBDEA1B7181D6A7AC985EEC6DC03541E8D047689

I kill every single one with only a shot. Every single one.

CF6E5C6E5BA79856A1394C49663E8B2738131030

D74C98A6719A8872096D3A481D573C261E75CD08

Since every guy drops 30 shotgun ammo, it's the best place in the game to stock up on that if you so wish. We didn't of course...

9B55DBA063AE6BCB42B231240F716CEF21DB007F

Well the easy part is over and now comes the even easier part, right? Btw, you don't have to use rocket launchers on the walls like I did for a long time. Any blast blows the doors open.

710B2FCA20AC61CF9CB280BBE38DB66FFE3DEA3F

Past this lava is the point of no return. Nothing but a series of corridors that look like they protect you but actually trap you. Supercharge globe count: 2

AE147729944FE7A1450C3E39CF96DE6F6DCB47A1

Ohh, the first enemy presents himself. We may even resist the urge to long range shotgun him.

9398151A9D7EA9BBFA125883B4DDCC9E2A45D969

1EB7202D9B8BF56C640647929B3E81D640988FA3

I let him get much closer before I waste any ammo. My melee abilities have made be more confident to allow monsters close.

AB1C3CAE7433F1826BDB3F8B038D0441AE7C0159

And it starts, no matter how often I do it, it's always uncomfortable. Monsters can surprise you from anywhere.

67D7A7B913592D85481013F25BE7060B4ECC35F2

958773DA77C97688F18900CAD590FB7E01BCE835

A second cacodemon proves a lot harder as I fail to melee charge him. It removes over 40% of my health, don't ask me how, I didn't even know cacodemons could hurt this much.

8E5A34741BF06E81622BF969BD7A33C09800C1E3

Oh shit. How are these guys so good at ambushing?

3664E1181DBB729F8E4F53739799E198F22603F2

Let's pull our secret weapon, the burst chaingun, and kill the cacodemon first and then melee the hell knight.

4614835B20E2C56FCBF84149DB951330F55E1027

The screenshot makes it look a lot better than it really was. 2 hits and no kill. Thanks a lot burst chaingun.

E46165CBEA944035B40DA7FC7816DA508FE23C0A

7359777D06F2855371B1FFC575E848A8902AC32C

Finally an easy kill, this is turning quite bad.

B8613B5745E1668BBD8356864322C1AEBDCF3128

Oh fuck me. A demon surprises us right around a corner, even they are hitting me!

4953257BB02C01225490DB4C5EEF10679C815CF6

F91756F915EC07647116F977A4E1381A26AD8A2E

I still hear some more demons, just a few more I guess.

E1912025595F31F50965353ECBB3C70F6E45A581

As our health seemed to dip with every fight, maybe it makes sense to up our health to 200%. supercharge globe count: 3. We sure needed them.

B1272343DE8ECBD43CE0A173C8E4397E0F8D6327

DB4AE98C2CB2FCCFEAB6E8899B26AA55EAE6CC29

ps: our burst chaingun sucks. I think it needs accuracy upgrades. There goes 60 ammo, and the ammo chain's too precious to use now.

278CF52A3044EF861370069F96FEFC8C2ECFC17F

Let's get ready for our hard earned BFG, we'll drop a medpack.

757142867C1FCC9AF8D0045EF3E54AC86DD0A855

May the blood of innocents put this shameful performance behind us.

Final Grade: C -
This level was remarkably easy on the difficulty level we're on and I got hit by practically every monster.

Ouch, that didn't go particularly smoothly. Still, with the super health globes as a safety net it's not the end of the world. I wouldn't mind seeing someone do a melee only run, since I don't really have any good melee techniques, apart from find baddies, then wait forever at doors and attacking them, until I get bored and just rush everything and die.

Yeah, waiting is about part for the course but Vampyre + berserk solves everything. The later levels are easier than the early ones. Oh and update your LP. Did the spider mastermind kill you? :troll:
