I've read a Fallout HoI LP before, but this one is better :D

Can't say I approve of the author lifting artwork from Armageddon Empires though.

Blame This thread for the delay for an update, but in any case, the glorious rodent Hivemind is returning for more.

First Rat Diplomacy

lpddfofirstwar003.jpg

(Not shown: half a dozen of other events. Because of the way event check works, every time you load a saved game in this mod, chances are you'll be welcomed by multiple events.)

With the growing drumming, the feel, the desire and ambition were reaching a critical point among the members of the First Rat Council, and unless all the tension was relieved, things would turn badly, thus warlords once again clashed for power, and a very influential member of the council forced the Founder to choose between several options to declare war against. Wisely, to not interfere in his greater plans for Kansas, he chooses Gecko, exactly because they lack any kind of border with the Under-Nation, meaning that the war against Gecko would simply be a phony war done to please the rat warlords, with no real goal, for now, other than the convenience of not having to declare war once the time comes to subjugate Gecko.

Meanwhile, the manboons began to realize the futility of life and to choose becoming an heroes over living in misery subjugated by rats. To solve the problem there is no better method than to simply bring fresh meat puppets to the rat overlords. And thus a large shipment of slaves is bought from the usual traders, oblivious to the real plans and caring only about their own selfish interests rather than to any threat to the supremacy of the human race on what is left of Kwanzania.

Also came good news, as a new battalion was raised of blind worshippers of the rat god. They would be very useful in the coming war.

Also...

MADNESS?

THIS IS CAESAR!

lpddfofirstwar005.jpg

With the Phony war against Gecko, the previously locked up penal battalions, I mean, slave battalions are now finally ready for war. They also head to the borders with the Kansas Free State, as soon shall come the time. They realized the threat the Rats posed, and began to prepare, but they were predicting that the invasion would only start once winter ends. They were terribly wrong, as a suprise winter offensive would begin.

lpddfofirstwar007.jpg

on 25th of January, 2246, the war started. A day later, at the break of dawn, the offensive began against Omaha, poorly defended by a small and barely equipped garrison of 3,000 ghouls amidst a frozen desert.

lpddfofirstwar008.jpg

However, with weather on their side, the battle was harsh, but thanks to the tactical expertise of Lt. General Peppermane, victory was ensued. Mastering the desert, The corps controlled by Peppermane became known as the Desert Rats among the rodents, and they would be feared and respected by their enemies, as they brought the hopeless future for the enemies of the ratkind.

The grimdark future of a rat-sized jackboot stomping on a human face...

Forever.

It is predictable that the ghouls capable of doing it will fight to the end to avoid subjugation, having heard of the horrors. However, ultimately they would not add much because of their inability to reproduce, yet the industrial infrastructure they owned would be a nice addition to the Under-Nation.

lpddfofirstwar011.jpg

The struggle continues as new battalions are raised, and with the fresh manpower of newly bought slaves, the Under-Nation finally manages to begin a program of exponential growth of their military forces.

lpddfofirstwar012.jpg

An unusually intelligent but physically frail and too honest to survive rat emerges. It would stand no chance alone, and although others are still tied to their roots, the Founder knows well that the manboons are all the muscle they need, and thus intelligence will soon become far more important for their kind than physical prowess. Considering the potential of a rat with IQ > 180, the Founder decides to secretly protect him and ensure his survival, hoping he could in the future became a solid ally capable of seeing the greater vision of a New World Order of rats instead of petty squabbles like most.

lpddfofirstwar014.jpg

For the Founder, survival was not the ultimate goal. Access to old holodisks gave to the Founder scant knowledge about many important historical conquerors among the men, and he fancied himself as the "Caesar of Rats", inspired by leftovers of works like Mein Kampf. He dreamed of glory rather than simple survival, of a turning their society into a society of prestigious rats, of rising legends among them as surely as the humans had theirs. Aspiring to Glory.

Meanwhile, due to how long it takes to reach Omaha, Peppermane soldiers are completely disorganized.

lpddfofirstwar015.jpg

And thus a minor setback happens. But this war will be won easily, according to what the rats knew about their current victims. It would be possibly the before last "easy" war of conquest they could wage before being bordered only by strong human and mutant factions. Thus the Rattzkrieg better work finely against the potato-eating ghouls.

lpddfofirstwar016.jpg

Unfortunately one more minor setback, however, reinforcements are due to arrive at the front. The ghouls are clawing their lands back in their hopeless struggle to avoid a fate worse than death.

lpddfofirstwar018.jpg

Meanwhile, news come about how a group of tribals successfully defeated a legion of intelligent spiders that also seemed to operate as a hivemind. And a few days later, due to an incident involving "witch trials" against tribals because of their polytheistic religions being declared "heresy", the Manitou Tribes decided to crush the theocratic state of Texas, but they will have to pass through the dead body of Primarch kingcomrade first, and face the gun-toting Trannies of Battle led by Kaiserin. Their chances weren't good thus, after all they were just a bunch of injuns.

lpddfofirstwar019.jpg

Funnily, nobody knows why, but the ghouls foolishly left Omaha completely undefended, and with all forces reorganized, the advance thus carried on while the snow melted over the wastelands.

lpddfofirstwar021.jpg

They send defenders, but they are too few and too poorly equipped and trained to stand a chance. The rats are coming.

lpddfofirstwar023.jpg

And while the first small step towards world domination begins, the First Council carefully considers the implications of this so called Chosen One as a threat to their goals. They heard about a certain being called The Master that was defeated by another, older hero whom the Chosen One is a descendant of. And that the Master had a much, much more powerful army than they do. Right now, however, this man is gone and nobody knows where he is, or even if he is still alive.

lpddfofirstwar024.jpg

Outnumbered, the ghouls of Kansas retreat once again after another battle where victory was certain.

lpddfofirstwar026.jpg

Actually, the Rat Council was expecting for the challenge to be at least a little greater than what it ultimately went through. Apparently the Kansas Free State was caught completely by surprise, and now it was too late for them to remind of the mistake of dedicating too few resources for the defense of their land. Strange considering what borders them. Maybe they are a bunch of hippies. That should explain a lot.

lpddfofirstwar030.jpg

Through many more days, victory after victory ensued, and soon the final battle would begin, and the Kansas Free State would be completely subjugated by the rats. This was so easy even rats would not be afraid of doing it.

lpddfofirstwar032.jpg

The neighbors are a greater worry than the current enemy. Meanwhile, news arrive on how the Dark Cathedral have completely subjugated the remnants of the former United States of Kwanzania, bringing a final touch to ITZ. The Senate and Congress members who were too coward to die fighting became part of a massive human sacrifice in name of dark gods, and their skulls were used to build a new throne within the Dark Cathedral. Tales of horrors arguably worse than those inflicted by the rats came, while a new battalion was recruited again, to compensate for the occasional clashes between rat warlords that were a part of the routine of the Under-Nation to the point it is futile to keep detailing them.

lpddfofirstwar037.jpg

More victories accelerate the inevitable demise of the Ghouls from Kansas, when strange news arrive to the rats. A legion of countless thousands of feral ghouls began a rampage through the East Coast of Kwanzania, causing countless deaths and eating the brains of any other being along their path. With Wichita secured, only Dodge City was left for annexing completely Kansas Free State. New researches also would begin, meanwhile.

lpddfofirstwar039.jpg

A bunch of poorly trained meatshields won't ensue world domination. Thus the rats begin a program of improvement over military training based on what they could scavenge from human holodisks and books about tactics and drilling.

lpddfofirstwar041.jpg

Winter has not started yet, when the final victory was ascertained. It took an entire year to crush Kansas, but it was a certain victory from the start, now all left to do was to reach Dodge City and raise the flag of the Under-Nation over its ruins.

lpddfofirstwar042.jpg

And at last! The ghouls are now subjected to the same misery, mental slaves to the rat gods, puppets to do the worst chores within their civilization. The first small step for world domination was thus concluded, but now, the strategic situation of the Rats changed a lot: they acquired new powerful and dangerous neighbors. Thus a review of their current location:

To the East lies the Brotherhood of Diversity, also known as the East Brotherhood of Steel, a powerful force that began from an airship crash in the outskirts of Chicago, equipped with far greater and more advanced technologies than anything the rats can currently field. If the Brotherhood decides it is rat-bashing time and that the rats are a real threat and must be exterminated, things may get very, very difficult and the Under-Nation would end feeling the same doom of knowing they would be fighting a war they cannot win that the Kansas Free State did.

As if these soldiers in power armor weren't bad enough, to the northeast lies the remnants of the Master Army. Legions of super-mutants, equally capable of posing a very real threat to the future of the rats greater plans.

To the north, a criminal gang of raiders who call themselves the Huns lie. They are one of the primary suppliers of slaves to the Under-Nation, and thus it is unlikely they'd have interest in harming a customer as long as a careful game is played to trick them into thinking they are not a target for the rats plans of world domination.

To the northwest, Vault City, another powerful country and significant threat should they decide to kill the rats with fire.

To the west, Broken Hills. It would have been a first victim, but they have a solid enough industrial base to support a relatively large army entirely stacked in a single province, and the Under-Nation has only one province bordering it, meaning an invasion would likely not succeed.

To the south three factions border the Under-Nation: The Robot Nation, also too powerful but fortunately too isolationistic to pose a threat, a powerful group of raiders known as the Vipers controlling vast stretches of territory and the militaristic ghoul faction known as the Reservation, the weakest of all current Under-Nation neighbors and deemed as the most likely target for the next bid on world conquest.

And finally, to the northeast lie the same Manitou Tribes that made roasted spider and are currently fighting against the Texan theocracy. Despite their tribal nature, perhaps it is unwise to underestimate them. As the year of 2246 ended, the Under-Nation became much more powerful, but many challenges lied ahead, for soon the easily conquered countries would run out and only powerful neighbors would remain.

Many opportunities also lied ahead, specially know that the Under-Nation fielded a much larger army with 18 battalions, and growing.

In this shattered post-apocalyptic nightmare wasteland, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the woman.

I particularly like the fact most of the provinces are unclaimed in the beginning and that there is a very large amount of relatively strong factions rather than only a few major powers.

Looks like its had a ton of work put into it... all these events for a faction that didn't even exist in the original source material.

War, war never changes

lpddfo2ndwar001.jpg

The doublethink-named Factory of Happiness begin research upon better agricultural methods to increase the output of manboons and ensure larger armies in the future. The Founder actually became inspired by a book called 1984 when defining how to name the institutions of the glorious Hivemind. In fact, he envisioned himself as the Big Brother. Therefore, there was only one conclusion to make.

He realized not soon that while waging wars against foreign targets the internal conflicts reduced dramatically in frequency, for the rats were slowly becoming united at the agenda of world domination. And thus, War is Peace.

lpddfo2ndwar002.jpg

Meanwhile, machete rape gangs, babymeat-eating cannibals and all kinds of unsavory and wild manboons are at last subjugated within Des Moines. However, bad news come as foreigners seize manboon slaves from the rats. Most of them seemingly came willingly, blindly believing it is better to be a slave to anything but a rat. Clashes among rats warlords were inevitable however, but they have become far less common lately. The near entirety of the Rat Army was already on the borders of another relatively weak faction: the Reservation. To dismiss such an opportunity would be foolish.

lpddfo2ndwar003.jpg

Once the conquest has begun, the Rats will only stop waging perpetual, seemingly everlasting war once their ultimate goal of world domination is concluded. It is still 2246 when a new invasion would begin: the subjugation of the militaristic ghouls of the Reservation. They would fight more fiercely, but would ultimately lack the numbers to stand a chance, specially because Enid was particularly easy to encircle.

lpddfo2ndwar004.jpg

The Winter offensive thus begins. They foolishly have place too little defenders on Pueblo, and thus, no matter the snow, victory ensued in this first battle. The only realization was that their forces were far better equipped than the Kansas Free State ones, but still, fear the rats.

lpddfo2ndwar005.jpg

The professionalization of the military forces carried on. To rely on the concept of a fair and meritocratic promotion system, one that will put competent leaders rather than privileged pieces of shit, for among rats family and nobility matter not, only being the fittest, smartest fastest and strongest do. This better form of military will require better screening proccesses, and thus forbid some men from being consider able to fight for the Hivemind, but on the other hand will ensue lesser casualties during the wars too, compensating the manpower penalty.

lpddfo2ndwar006.jpg

The reservation might have better equipped troops, but their strategies are incredibly flawed. Instead of sending their entire army in an attempt of holding Pueblo, they send only a single battalion. Meanwhile, from this battle another Desert Rat emerges.

lpddfo2ndwar007.jpg

Greater villains. Super-soldiers, powerful, ruthless warriors capable of alone ruining entire armies. The dreams of glory for the Hivemind, the dreams of enslaving entire nations with genetic engineering, far, far away dreams. Eventually legends shall rise from the Under-Nation, but now is not the time, and with the limited technological base heroism cannot be researched right now, unfortunately, and thus Companies of Villains cannot be built. The rat engineers however have proved to be incredibly effective in warfare, just not as effective as greater villains.

lpddfo2ndwar008.jpg

With Pueblo secured, Enid falls shortly after.

lpddfo2ndwar009.jpg

Immediately the advance carries on against Santa Fe, only to be met by a much greater, and fierce resistance from four heavily armed battalions with a large amount of machineguns. The offensive fails, but this is not a problem, soon reinforcements shall come to seal the fate of the Reservation. This war marked the New Year's Eve of 2247 for the Under-Nation.

lpddfo2ndwar010.jpg

Upon the beginning of the next year, the Founder decides to push and ever more aggressive foreign policy than the one that already was in practice, believing in the Manifest Destiny of world domination, their future, for the Earth would not tolerate more than one intelligent species. If they fail, humanity would ultimately exterminate them, like they did before with the talking deathclaws.

lpddfo2ndwar011.jpg

Several conquered territories are finally purged of ITZ elements. Then along the war, secret whispers of liberty echoed from Kansas. Whispers on how it is better to die fighting than to live in such hellish existence serving rats. Whispers of revolution against the Under-Nation.

lpddfo2ndwar012.jpg

And thus a major slave uprising, mostly made by ghouls, happened in Wichita, a nuisance at best, but they had to be put down, cruelly, to be made an example of.

lpddfo2ndwar013.jpg

And then, just as the rebellion was soon to be put down, with any of their perpetrators caught alive fated to death by impalement, more rats decide to fight among themselves than against the Reservation. The Founder order for these rats to be minced alive for their treason against the glory of the Hivemind.

lpddfo2ndwar014.jpg

Wichita began to look like Gholgotha from New Reno, thousands of ghouls were impaled. Knowing well their resilience, it is likely they would take a whole month to die, as their screams echoed through the wastelands. They would be forcefully given water, to ensure it takes a very, very long time for them to die after so much misery and suffering. To serve as a warning to the next ones who dare to raise against their masters.

Meanwhile, the tribals from Manitou decide the Caesar Legion is a threat to their future, and declare war against them in spite of their bad performance in the war they were already fighting with the God Republic of Texas.

lpddfo2ndwar015.jpg

Shortly after starting a new war, their former capital, Biloxi, has fallen to the forces of the kingcomrade, and now seemed to be a good opportunity to carve part of these tribal lands for the Hivemind. Meanwhile, the war against the Reservation seemed to have stagnated for months, but sooner or later, that would change.

Also, for one, the votes for other factions will have relevance to this LP. I won't spoil how, but they will. And finally, as this thread started with a vote, it'll be common for once every couple of updates for choices to be presented again. Like in the end of this one.

Road to victory and important decisions

Music

lpddfo2ndwar016.jpg

The ghouls scream all over the Under-Nation recent acquisitions: Liberty or Death! And having made their choice, they will indeed have death, only in the most horrible, long and painful ways imaginable. Omaha falls under their rabble, and as the opportunistic human dregs they are, the Huns seize the opportunity to take Omaha for themselves while enslaving the Ghouls there.

lpddfo2ndwar017.jpg

Finally, everything is set as a legion of 64,000 soldiers and rats is prepared to launch a new, brutal offensive against Santa Fe. Unless the Reservation wisened up, they will be defeated now, for sure. With the support of the rat engineers, not even the natural defense of a river shall protect Los Alamos if Santa Fe falls.

lpddfo2ndwar018.jpg

Instead of putting their entire army in Santa Fe, they decided to leave the four divisions there completely dried of any further reinforcements, sealing their fate with such strategic ineptness. They expected that the Under-Nation legions would stop for a rest once they reached Santa Fe, and how they were so wrong about it.

lpddfo2ndwar019.jpg

As part of a genial, mastermind plan for world domination, propaganda shall circulate the wastes about the Under-Nation being a paradise free of prejudices against the mutant, the Jew and the nigger. Hopefully flocking countless of immigrant fools hoping for a better start, only to face a fate worse than death. By pretending to be a beacon of diversity, the Under-Nation shall have more puppets to raise their armies. For in truth, there was nothing wrong with the concepts of diversity and equality: all humanoid creatures are equally worthless to the Glorious Hivemind.

And thus, the very MULTIKULT that brought ITZ to mankind will now be used as a tool of a vast conspiracy for world domination and subjugation of what is left of the human race.

lpddfo2ndwar020.jpg

Another kind of hivemind offered a deal: an insane, crazy one made by feral ghouls that are rampaging through the East Coast of Kwanzania in search of brains to devour, that strangely still are willing to trade. Their misanthropic and "undead" nature is of no concern to the rats, and thus they accept the deal, in spite of the fact their negotiator didn't come back after being eaten alive. But he was disposable, so why bother?

lpddfo2ndwar021.jpg

Despite lacking any way of reaching the remnants of the Master Army, the Enclave just declared war against them. These shallow declarations of wars against enemies that can't be reached seem completely nonsensical, unless the Enclave also occasionally is forced to randomly declare war due to jingoistic warlords pressure. The race for Omaha begins as well, while soon the rats shall arrive at Santa Fe.

lpddfo2ndwar022.jpg

Damnable Huns! For this only, now it has become very, very clear which shall be the next target in the greater plan of the Founder for world domination: these dirty, filthy raiders and machete rape gangs that will fall under the yoke of the Rat overlords! For their unlawful seizing and raid of territories belonging to the Hivemind, they shall pay with their dignity and freedom! And thus the ghouls achieved much in their struggle. They just changed the owners of their shackles, and brought the wrath of the Rat Council unto them. Rape, mutilations better left undescribed and gruesome executions happen against ghouls all over the Under-Nation in retaliation. Fear, fear as they scream for weeks before dying in miserable state, mutilated, maimed, burnt but still left alive. Their agony will serve as a warning to the rest. And soon the Huns shall also suffer the same fate.

lpddfo2ndwar023.jpg

But in spite of all horrors committed against rebels, nothing changed besides their tactics. The rebels were now becoming openly suicidal. It was becoming harder and harder to capture any of them alive to be made an example of. Kansas City, former cultural center of the Kansas Free State, struggles against the rats, but this time the Hun scumbags shall have no chance of arriving first... hopefully.

lpddfo2ndwar024.jpg

The enemy desperate last stand counted on the fact that the attack would happen after all their forces retreated to Los Alamos. In spite of being somewhat disorganized, the Under-Nation forces tasked with the subjugation of the Reservation advanced relentlessly, without waiting a second, to crush them once for all and put their leaders to horrible fates, provided they don't kill themselves first, of course.

lpddfo2ndwar025.jpg

And thus, victory ensued, while the fate of Kansas City hanged on the balance as the Huns were trying to arrive first. Another group of ghouls fall to the subjugation, and the Under-Nation grows slowly towards becoming a Great Power in the Wasteland.

lpddfo2ndwar026.jpg

This time, fortunately the scum failed to arrive first, but this won't mean they will be forgiven, once the annexation of the Reservation is over, they shall be the next victim, and no longer human slaver and slave will be any different for both will be in the same worthless, miserable and worse than death condition once the Hivemind subjugates the Huns.

lpddfo2ndwar027.jpg

However, just as the rebellion at Kansas City was put down, in spite of all tortures, gruesome executions and random atrocities in Wichita, a second slave revolt sparks there. There is a concern that, because these people were used to freedom, many will rather die fighting than accept their miserable existence as slaves. But no matter what, the Under-Nation shall always prevail.

lpddfo2ndwar028.jpg

While news came about the hordes of mindless ghouls ravaging the territories conquered by Caesar's Legion and about how the God Republic of Texas was about to conquer the Manitou Tribes, by the end of April, Reservation is fully annexed, and now nothing is stopping the Under-Nation from exacting revenge against the Huns for their seizing of Omaha. Nothing but one, very important thought that the Founder was having as he reviewed the situation of their now much larger Army.

lpddfo2ndwar029.jpg

The Under-Nation Army is made only by professionally trained regular infantry divisions for now. What has started as a meager army of 12,000 men(3 battalions) has multiplied tenfold and is now an Army of 120,000 men, a very numerically strong force by Wasteland standards. A necessarily strong one, for now the weak neighbors were all culled, and the ones remaining were all strong, from Vault City to the Brotherhood of Diversity, they would be difficult to conquer, once their time come, but difficult or not, the Huns won't get away with their insult against the Under-Nation! But first, the Founder thought:

lpddfo2ndwar030.jpg

"If we could trick the Super-Mutants to support our plans... we would have a very powerful ally.... maybe, maybe I could pretend to be the reincarnation of The Master. It could work, maybe. But if I side with them we would be forced to declare war against the Enclave, and I think many in the Council would utterly despise such an alliance, so, I wonder what I should do in regards to this..."

What should The Founder of the Rodent Hivemind do?

1) Approach and seek an alliance with the Mutant Army.

2) No way! Suffer not the mutant!

Though they would probablly help keep the brotherhood in check, this would be a travesty against the hivemind

1) They must be confused with the inanity of rat diplomacy, and turned into a tool until their time comes!

Non-Aggression Pact works just as well.
