And Wyrmie, "high regard" is the pink floss you put on those BOS assholes.

First, The Glow? The fucking place is dangerous as fuck, and we only have a few medical pills to fix the radiation dose. Those crispy as fuck BOSs lying right there? They got their advanced armors on. A death sentence for the dumb barb wanting to join the frat, that's what it is.

Second, Mariposa? Those escorts of ours are there strictly for the perimeter guards, and they outrank VD so he couldnt order them to accompany him and his squad inside. His rank? Is that Squire or Bottom-ranker, I dont remember. Basically he took down the whole base on the other side of the gate by his own dime, with his own people. BOS lost nothing.

Dont listen to what flowery and flattery words they use, look at what they has done. Judging them by that criteria and Brotherhood of Steel show their cloven feet.

Man, after exploring V13 and getting this kind of line thrown by the Overseer, I'm starting to hate the sequel more for throwing in the GECK.

That retcon killed any semblance of logic when the Overseer refused to leave Vault. We get it, people aren't skilled enough to survive out there. But we have GECK for fuck's sake! THREE OF THEM even, take it to Shady Sands and turn it into Shady Green or something!

U stupid? The man is old, and wasteland town making is a young man's endeavour. Going out mean he's going to step down, will he nil he. Think a despot will risk his position of demigod inside the Vault for the betterment of his charges and/or people outside?

EDIT: and GECK look like an agri-kit: highquality seeds, replicable fertilizers and stuffs. It will help the crop but everything else: cut down trees to make houses, hunting dangerous mutated animals, etc... are going to by hands. Strong hands of youth.

He can control the GECK. He who controls the GECK, Controls the Vault. He who controls the Vault. Controls the Citizens.

Vault-Wiki source:
Vault 13 stored complete construction equipment, hydro-agricultural farms, water purification from an underground river, defensive weaponry to equip 10 men, communication, social and entertainment files (for total duration). It was also supplied with an extra Garden of Eden Creation Kit (which, when added to the vault standard compliment of 2, makes 3 kits in total), instead of the extra water chips that made their way to Vault 8. Due to its late completion, the "cry wolf" effect that hurt the other vaults is not as pronounced in Vault 13.
He's got the bargaining chip. He might be irrelevant, but he will live comfortably, perhaps in a nice, outside world...in the garden of eden. Or some shit that F2 Vault City utopia led us to believe.

The whole purpose of the Vault is to...Leave. Rebuild. If the GECK is taken out of the equation then we'd have the Overseer just acting like a power-mad douche he is, instead of being a retard like Loghain of Ferelden who's sitting on a solution (a big army to beat the Darkspawn) yet does nothing to fight it.

LOOK! He's, at that time, is the demigod despot of the Vault. If they had gone out, at best he would have been a very respected councilor. But in any event he would have none of his current power. You ever see any despot voluntarily give up their power of death and life?

And I want to remind you of the skeletal remains outside the Vault door. Why did it lie there right outside the door, seemingly die of rat but I suspect die of starvation and/or thirst? Why did they not open it to let him in or rescue him? And why our VD doesnt seem to know about that corpse? A cover-up dead by exile? Or something more sinister?

YOU WIN SULIK. YOU WIN.

After the breaking of the Vault 13 water chip and before December 5, 2161, the Overseer Jacoren began to sent out Vault 13 dwellers into the wasteland to find a replacement chip. The first was a man named Ed but, probably not a fighter, he was killed by the giant rats that inhabit the cave outside of Vault 13.

:retarded:

I don't wanna read VaultWiki further. LEAVE FALLOUT CANON ALONE.

Any wiki that treats Fallout 3 bullshit as canon should be added to the Codex collective ignore list.

06 What has been seen...

Days later, we finally arrived at Junktown.
02.jpg

vd.jpg
How's your wounds, Ian?
ian.jpg
I've recovered most of 'em. Thanks to you.
vd.jpg
No problem. Let's look around, see if they can help us find this Water Chip.
01.jpg

vd.jpg
Say, what are you doing here? What is this place?
guard.gif
What does it look like? I'm a guard, and I'm keeping an eye out for strangers like you. And this place is called Junktown. Hey, don't laugh. I happen to like the name myself. We mostly do trading. Sometimes we trade with those stuck up bastards from the hub. Hey, you're not from the Hub are you?
vd.jpg
Me? No, I'm not from the Hub.
guard.gif
Hmmm. OK. It's not our place to ask questions. Have a good day and don't make any trouble.
vd.jpg
Nice guy.
ian.jpg
They're just grunts. Can't blame them. Like I said, you can't rely on smart mouth alone to fix problems in the wasteland.
vd.jpg
Oh look, another guard. Maybe this one can tell us more about this town.
03.jpg

vd.jpg
Can you give me the big picture on Junktown?
lars.jpg
Me and my men here work for Killian Darkwater. We keep some order in this town, dealing with all of the murderers, thieves, and other scumbags who come in from the desert. If you want my advice, you'll also stay away from Gizmo. That fathead runs a crooked operation, but we just haven't been able to prove anything. He and his lackeys, the Skulz, are going to take the fall sometime soon, if Killian has anything to say about it.
vd.jpg
Good to know that someone's keeping the peace around here, thanks.
lars.jpg
Hey, it's our job. But it's good to know that someone appreciates it. Thanks.
vd.jpg
Say, do you know anything about a Water Chip?
lars.jpg
A what? Sorry, man. Try Killian.
vd.jpg
Alright. *Looks at his Pipboy*
04.jpg

vd.jpg
Less than four months left...I better hurry this up.
05.jpg

vd.jpg
Hmm. What are these?
ian.jpg
Oh, those are brahmin.
vd.jpg
These look like...cows? Why do they have two heads?
ian.jpg
I don't know. You're the science guy.
vd.jpg
Hang on a sec...
06.jpg

vd.jpg
It's gotta be mutation. No doubt about it.
ian.jpg
Pity it ain't an extra thigh. Would've made more tasty steaks.
07.jpg

vd.jpg
Looks like a clinic. I should stock up on stims.
08.jpg

vd.jpg
I need to see the Doc.
09.jpg

vd.jpg
Very friendly. I guess that means we can see him. Eh, he's not at the back?
ian.jpg
Try the manhole.
10.jpg

vd.jpg
Whoa, wait!

I look around and grew alarmed. Body parts strewn across the surgical table, an ice box, slightly stained in blood lies on the floor. His assistant is carrying...a piece of something? These look...human.

doc.jpg
Why should I?
vd.jpg
I'm no danger to you!
ian.jpg
Brian! They're cannibals!
vd.jpg
No wait, Ian! Let's talk this out.
doc.jpg
Why should I let you leave?!
vd.jpg
Look, you're obviously more powerful than I am, you got your assistant right here and two guards up top...
doc.jpg
That is true. Unfortunately, you have seen to much. Hmm. You must prove your sincerity. And I might be able to make a little profit out of this deal.
vd.jpg
What do you mean?
doc.jpg
I will take something from you. And then we will be even.
vd.jpg
Oh, money? Sure...no pro-
doc.jpg
Excellent!
11.jpg

vd.jpg
Wait-What are you-AAAAAAAAAAAAA

Yeah, yeah - an eye - big deal.

Just find some cover and it should recover in no time!

:what:

That's something new I never knew about (assuming it's not edited, that is). I usually killed that guy the moment I discovered he traded with human parts.

Yes, RK47, this is the point when you reload. It's what I did when he took my character's eye.

Or perhaps use your Doctor skills. Ha! That might work. Perhaps find a Doctor's Bag. Or go back to Vault 13, and use the top of the line medical technology to get your eye damage fixed.

His character won't be able to shoot straight once he loses his eye.

I say heal it. This way he'll be able to use the cyber-eye he always wanted to have. Also, if it's not obvious enough, kill that fucker. An eye for an eye...

07 Cannot be unseen

ian.jpg
Brian! We gotta kill these bastards!
doc.jpg
Now, now. Mind your language.
vd2.jpg
I...Oh god! Ian...I.I can't see!
14.jpg

13.jpg

vd2.jpg
Ian...help me up the ladder....NOW!

With great difficulty, I grasp at the iron ladder and make my way up.

15.jpg

vd2.jpg
I...I'm going to need some time...
ian.jpg
Take your time, Brian.

I carefully clean my wound with some water, carefully cleaning the empty eye socket with some cloth. Finally, I insert a gauze into the eye socket. The pain was extreme, but it was either that or dying from infection and stumbling blind while doing so. Finally, a dark cloth was applied to the missing eye.

16.jpg

17.jpg

vd3.jpg
It's done..I..I can see again.
ian.jpg
Ok, let's leave and tell the guards about this psycho!
vd3.jpg
No. We're to make sure this bastard doesn't get away with this.
18.jpg

vd3.jpg
Let's go.
19.jpg

doc.jpg
Back again to give the other eye?
vd3.jpg
Here, catch, you son of a bitch!
20.jpg

21.jpg

22.jpg

ian.jpg
Get some!

Ian finishes off the midget with three well-placed shots. The Doc jams a stimpack syringe on himself before charging at me, swinging his fists at my face.

23.jpg

doc.jpg
You should've left, fool! Now I'm going to take from you EVERYTHING!
ian.jpg
Die, creep!
24.jpg

Ian's shot caught the doctor's sides and knocked him down. He howls in pain.

doc.jpg
Arrrghhhhhhh...You!...You too, I will have yours!
vd3.jpg
You can have this.
25.jpg

I knelt down, pressing the SMG on his back before squeezing the trigger.

26.jpg

27.jpg

vd3.jpg
One less monster in this world.
ian.jpg
Gods, Brian. I'm really sorry.
vd3.jpg
Not your fault. *stands up and grabs the dead midget's SMG*
28.jpg

vd3.jpg
Here. For the two guards upstairs.
30.jpg

vd3.jpg
Let's finish this.
31.jpg

vd3.jpg
Say hello to my little friend.
32.jpg

33.jpg

Ian rushes out to meet the guards, but in their rage, they completely ignored him and rushes at me in the next room.

34.jpg

Which suits me just fine.

35.jpg

Ian gives the guard a shot on the back. The heavily wounded guard limped to the doorway, seeking to escape.

36.jpg

The other one stayed behind and fired a shot at my chest. I winced and took aim at his chest with my SMG before releasing a burst.

37.jpg

vd3.jpg
I'm just here to buy some medicine, cocksuckers!
37a.jpg

The guard dance the dance of death before dropping, with extra ventilation on his chest.

38.jpg

Ian takes aim at the fleeing guard and squeezed the trigger.

39.jpg

40.jpg

vd3.jpg
Looks like we closed this clinic for good. Search the bodies, there may be something we can use. Sons of bitches. *Pats his eye patch* You were right, Ian.
ian.jpg
Huh?
vd3.jpg
Guns do solve problems.

Ian nodded grimly before proceeding to search the corpses. This is turning out to be a very costly trip.

Oh well, an eye is not too high a price for that life lesson.

Actually, factoring in Fallout 2, Vault 13 is revealed to be a control group vault that is supposed to remain closed, and/or used by the Enclave when the FEV experiment is ready. Same as Vault 101, basically. The Overseer's stated reasons are different from his real reasons, though "he's under orders" is kind of a weak explanation to let people die of thirst.

I was wondering if there is any speech check that could succeed. I was at 90% how high do I need to defuse the situation without losing an eye? or is there totally no option at all?
