Hey, look at that, it's like I predicted! The reason why DA2's setting is so much of a shithole is because that place was cursed! Too bad that as always this changes nothing :rage:

About the derpspawn, I vote to contain it, so far Larius is the only character that HAS NOT tried to kill or betray us.

If she has a way to control him, I don't see the harm.

Somebody hasn't learned much from her own experience, apparently.

While it's probably a terrible idea, let's support Janecka, just to see what happens.

Exploit it, yeh. Not that anyone is expecting it to work, obviously, but uh, might be interesting? I guess it's just a big bossfight.

The same Hawke, child of Malcolm?
But... Marlcolm is also a Hawke :hmmm:

This whole Shepard/Hawke thing makes the writing SO awkward at times.

Anyway, do whatever. Just finish this DLC already so you can move on to Mark :smug:

Contain or cooperate...no kill? Hmm, have a feeling that it's going to come down to killing anyway. But for the sake of making a choice, let us help the lass in her quest for knowledge.

Also, very nice of BioWare to just leave a breadcrumb of scrolls to find lying around to another forbidden ritual. Those Wardens can be so careless cleaning up after everyone else.

THE LEGACY DLC, PART 7

So be it!

face-hawke60.jpg
Larius is a madman. Let's use every weapon we have against the Blight.
face-larius.jpg
No! Would you destroy us all?
face-larius.jpg
Do you turn on me, Dursten?
face-larius.jpg
Alec? Roland? I led you. Who do you serve?

Wardens made their choice. They went with Larius.

da2lp60-01.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
You bastards...
face-janeka.jpg
With me, Hawke. We must beat them to the seal.

da2lp60-02.jpg

Three dwarves were waiting for Janeka at the lower level.

da2lp60-03.jpg

face-dwarf1.jpg
Janeka? And... the Hawke! Together?
face-janeka.jpg
Stop gawking, fools! Larius and those traitor Wardens are on their way to kill Corypheus.
face-janeka.jpg
Go down the other passage and deal with them. I want them dead!
face-dwarf1.jpg
Yes, Janeka.

A magical barrier emerged behind them. Goodbye, idiots, we'll never see you again.

da2lp60-04.jpg

face-dwarf1.jpg
Look!
face-janeka.jpg
This is Larius's doing. I'll deal with it! Go!
face-dwarf1.jpg
Yes, Janeka.
face-hawke60.jpg
Enough chatter. Larius is making his way to Corypheus as we speak.
face-janeka.jpg
Agreed.
face-janeka.jpg
Larius wishes to bar my way? Laughs We'll see about that.

Not only dwarves have to deal with the barrier problem.

da2lp60-05.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
Destroying it will take too much time, but I can affect the flow of magic to the barriers.

da2lp60-06.jpg

da2lp60-07.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
Let's continue.

da2lp60-08.jpg

These thingies disable the barrier of the same color. Only one at a time can be disabled.

Larius with traitorous Wardens had a massive lead. There was no way to intercept them in time.

da2lp60-09.jpg

da2lp60-10.jpg

face-bethany.jpg
Larius knows this labyrinth better than anyone. Do we even have a chance of beating him?

Of course, no. We need to press forward still.

da2lp60-11.jpg

da2lp60-12.jpg

da2lp60-13.jpg

Fell to the stupid of 'Dex choice rather than evil monsters. :smug:

Disabling another power nexus provoked demons' anger. We are on the right track.

da2lp60-14.jpg

da2lp60-15.jpg

Ah, yes, the orange nexus is turned off. The path has been cleared.

da2lp60-16.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
This won't give us any more trouble.

da2lp60-17.jpg

Time to face Larius himself.

da2lp60-18.jpg

face-larius.jpg
No further!
face-janeka.jpg
"No further?" Snorts Did you really think you could stop me?
face-janeka.jpg
I will reach Corypheus, and I will harness his power.

da2lp60-19.jpg

Bros I tell you what: you bet on the wrong horse. Despite looking untainted she's the one who is insane.

face-larius.jpg
No. Never. Your path ends here!

He turned on the golems in a desperate attempt to slow Hawke down.

da2lp60-20.jpg

This fight is somewhat atypical. Each golem has unique properties. One is simply super fat.

da2lp60-21.jpg

Another is completely immune to magic.

da2lp60-22.jpg

The third is a shameless popamoler.

da2lp60-23.jpg

Thing is they don't attack simultaneously until the very end when it's too late to change anything.

da2lp60-24.jpg

da2lp60-25.jpg

Closer and closer.

da2lp60-26.jpg

da2lp60-27.jpg

face-varric.jpg
Oh, that's nice.
face-hawke60.jpg
What's so nice about it?
face-varric.jpg
I was just wandering what someplace sinister and foreboding would look like. And here it is.

Sorry bros, you are an obstacle.

da2lp60-28.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
You can't stop me. Larius.

She clenched her fist, bursting with anger.

face-janeka.jpg
The Wardens will see I'm right about this. With Corypheus's power, we can end the Blights forever.
face-larius.jpg
Hawke, you must listen! Janeka is blind to the truth! Corypheus is using her!

This is the last opportunity to flip-flop, but I won't go against the majority.

da2lp60-29.jpg

face-hawke60.jpg
One step closer and you're dead.
face-larius.jpg
Better to die than live with Corypheus free! Wardens!

They had no chance.

da2lp60-30.jpg

da2lp60-31.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
He sleeps now, but not for long. The last of the prison's magic still holds him.
face-janeka.jpg
The key alone won't open this seal. Use your blood. Free him now, so we can take him while he's weak.

Interestingly, Larius's body is unlootable. It's possible he faked his death.

da2lp60-32.jpg

So Hawke has to disable containment pillars by touching them. One.

da2lp60-33.jpg

face-bethany.jpg
Look, that seems to have weakened the spell.
face-hawke60.jpg
Just three more to go.

Two.

da2lp60-34.jpg

face-bethany.jpg
I suppose he won't stop coming after us unless we do this.
face-hawke60.jpg
Probably not.

Three.

da2lp60-35.jpg

face-varric.jpg
You feel that? It's like... something is lifting.

face-varric.jpg
Last chance to change your mind.
face-bethany.jpg
Be careful, Brother.

Too late to change anything.

Four.

da2lp60-36.jpg

da2lp60-37.jpg

The torches got ablaze with purple fire. The last part of ritual was about to complete, waiting only for Hawke's blood.

da2lp60-38.jpg

da2lp60-39.jpg

Several blood drops splashed onto the binding circle.

da2lp60-40.jpg

da2lp60-41.jpg

Ouch! Hawke was knocked back like a kitten with a powerful blast of magic energy.

da2lp60-42.jpg

Well, hello, he-who-cannot-be-pronounced.

da2lp60-43.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
He emerges. I will bind him!

da2lp60-44.jpg

Predictably, Corypheus deflected her spell without breaking a sweat, causing her to tumble.

da2lp60-45.jpg

da2lp60-46.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
Oh, shit.
face-corypheus.jpg
Be this some dream I wake from? Am I in dwarven lands? Why seem their roads so empty?
face-corypheus.jpg
You! Serve you at the temple of Dumat? Bring me hence! I must speak with the first acolyte!
face-janeka.jpg
The Wardens... they captured Corypheus just after the First Blight. This was part of the Imperium then.
face-corypheus.jpg
You look human. Are you not citizens of the Empire? Slaves then, to the dwarves? Why come you here?
face-corypheus.jpg
Whoever you be, you owe fealty to any magister of Tevinter. On your knees! All of you!
face-hawke60.jpg
If Janeka can't control you, I won't risk leaving you alive.
face-corypheus.jpg
You are what held me. I smell the blood in you.
face-corypheus.jpg
Dumat! Lord! Tell me. What waking dream is this?

The creature seemed to be lost and confused. It didn't even pay much attention to his would-be captors.

da2lp60-47.jpg

face-corypheus.jpg
The light. We sought the golden light. You offered... the power of the gods themselves.
face-corypheus.jpg
But it was... black... corrupt. Darkness... ever since. How long?
face-janeka.jpg
He speaks of the Golden City. He was one of the, the magisters who violated the Maker's sacred place.
face-janeka.jpg
They became the first darkspawn. It was he and his kind who brought the Blight down on all of us.
face-janeka.jpg
Corypheus must have been controlling me, whispering in my mind...
face-janeka.jpg
That's what the Wardens meant. He can speak through the corruption...
face-hawke60.jpg
If he could reach the Black City, who knows what else he's capable of. We need to kill him.
face-corypheus.jpg
The city! It was supposed to be golden! It was supposed to be ours!
face-corypheus.jpg
If I cannot leave with you, I will leave through you! I seek the light!

The Warden bitch turned her tail. So much for help.

da2lp60-48.jpg

da2lp60-49.jpg

He's pretty weak in straight combat. In fact you don't need anything more than regular autoattack. Obviously, there is a catch.

da2lp60-50.jpg

face-corypheus.jpg
Dumat! Grant me your powers!
face-corypheus.jpg
Ah! The fire in my veins!

Dude becomes totally invincible after praying to his dead(?) god, fanning flames around in spinning motion. Fortunately, the party has fire protection runes which make the whole thing irritating rather than dangerous.

da2lp60-51.jpg

In order to deprive him from invincibility Hawke has to touch all the containment pillars again. Oh, and as soon as you touch one, two fade monsters are spawned.

da2lp60-52.jpg

da2lp60-53.jpg

da2lp60-54.jpg

da2lp60-55.jpg

da2lp60-56.jpg

da2lp60-57.jpg

So the ritual is done, Corypheus is in our reach again. Can I just whack him and end this buffoonery?

face-corypheus.jpg
Perhaps a little something more...
face-corypheus.jpg
Burn, you miserable insects!

face-varric.jpg
What? He has fire, now?
face-bethany.jpg
He absorbed it from the statue!

da2lp60-58.jpg

Har har, no so fast. This is a next-gen encounter design, after all. You have to repeat process two times in more challenging conditions.

face-corypheus.jpg
The power is mine! I am restored!

da2lp60-59.jpg

face-corypheus.jpg
Scurry, little rats. The maze closes in.

So Dumat gives him a power of earth. Now he can erect obstacles, stressing shitty pathfinding engine and causing massive butthurt from needless clicking.

da2lp60-60.jpg

face-hawke60.jpg
Now what?

da2lp60-61.jpg

da2lp60-62.jpg

If only... :(

da2lp60-63.jpg

da2lp60-64.jpg

All done.

face-hawke60.jpg
Here he comes!
face-corypheus.jpg
The walls are closing in...
face-bethany.jpg
We need to stun him, disrupt his protections!

da2lp60-65.jpg

Pointless. This coward runs to his god's protection after taking a beating. How the fuck his prayers are being answered considering that his god is dead?

da2lp60-66.jpg

Shit, he adds ice and lighting to his arsenal.

da2lp60-67.jpg

face-corypheus.jpg
Feel the chill. You cannot outrun it. You cannot escape.
face-varric.jpg
Sweet mother of pearl!
face-hawke60.jpg
Watch out for the ice!
face-bethany.jpg
And the rocks as well!
face-varric.jpg
If he pulls a dragon out of his ass, I'm leaving!

Heh, it's not all that unreasonable to expect. Here goes another round.

da2lp60-68.jpg

da2lp60-69.jpg

da2lp60-70.jpg

da2lp60-71.jpg

da2lp60-72.jpg

face-hawke60.jpg
What is going on out there?
face-bethany.jpg
He's summoned a storm around the entire tower!
face-bethany.jpg
Be careful!

da2lp60-73.jpg

da2lp60-74.jpg

da2lp60-75.jpg

Almost dead.

da2lp60-76.jpg

da2lp60-77.jpg

The dark magics weren't fast enough to counter Hawke's awesome jump strike.

da2lp60-78.jpg

da2lp60-79.jpg

da2lp60-80.jpg

One powerful swing and the creature is gone for good. Or is it?

da2lp60-81.jpg

da2lp60-82.jpg

The matter with Janeka is still unresolved. I'd grab her collar and throw her from the cliff, because she doesn't deserve anything better for her recent behavior.

da2lp60-83.jpg

face-janeka.jpg
Hawke, I-I'm so sorry. I feel like such a fool.
face-janeka.jpg
I really thought I could do it. It never... entered my mind that Corypheus had planted that thought.
face-hawke60.jpg
You should fall on your sword before you shame the Wardens further.
face-janeka.jpg
You're right. The call... I hear it now, even with him gone.
face-janeka.jpg
I'll return to the commander, report on what happened here. Then it's time for me to take the long walk.
face-janeka.jpg
My gratitude you have, for returning me to myself. I feel like... a whole new person.

da2lp60-84.jpg

Now bros, you've just seen the potential sequel hook walking away. Note the inverted Yoda speak in the last sentence and the part about "whole new person". Corypheus didn't die the final death when Hawke cut his original body. Similar to archdemons he transferred to a new host. Anyway, the Hawke's part in this mess is over.

And for Redgar and Vaarna_Aarne: it plays *exactly* the same if you choose Larius except he's the one who gets possessed in the end. :M

face-varric.jpg
I said you wouldn't believe me.
face-cassandra.jpg
When the Seekers arrived at the structure, this prison... it was destroyed.
face-cassandra.jpg
The Grey Wardens were there, but they said an entire unit had been lost. They did not mention this Janeka.
face-cassandra.jpg
And now you claim the Champion was not only there, but defeated a magister... one of the magisters of old.
face-varric.jpg
Left there by the Wardens themselves.
face-cassandra.jpg
A curious tale. I wonder if there's more to it.
face-varric.jpg
A small matter.
face-varric.jpg
A moment for the last of the family, and an echo. You'll forgive me if I take a liberty or two.

Back at the mansion

da2lp60-85.jpg

face-bethany.jpg
It's amazing how the past haunts us. All this hardship because of what happened so many years ago.
face-bethany.jpg
That was a big risk to take without Mother's consent. Tempting the Blight is apparently a theme for our family.
face-bethany.jpg
One glorious day, we'll learn to leave well enough alone.
face-hawke60.jpg
Look, I know it's been hard, but would you really rather be dead?
face-bethany.jpg
You don't know. And if the Maker has mercy, you never will.
face-bethany.jpg
I have to go, Brother. Give everyone my best.[/size]

da2lp60-86.jpg

Farewell, sister. Until the next DLC, that is. :M

Hawke turned to the fireplace and closed his eyes, dreaming about long lost mother.

da2lp60-87.jpg

da2lp60-88.jpg

face-mom.jpg
You know Malcolm wouldn't want you two to fight. He sacrificed so we'd have a life free to choose, not always agree.
face-mom.jpg
His burden must have been very like yours.
face-hawke60.jpg
I bust my tail, and for what? We deserve better. Yuo deserved better.
face-mom.jpg
You know, your father got angry like that. He had doubts, but he was always moving forward.
face-mom.jpg
The best of him is still with you. The best of all of us. It's what makes you try so hard.
face-mom.jpg
You will always have that. We will always be family.
face-mom.jpg
It'll be all right.

The vision faded and Hawke opened his eyes. He was alone in his mansion, having no one to console his troubled soul. :(

da2lp60-89.jpg

Really ? FFS, Bioware's obsession with creating sequel hooks is really getting out of hand...

Still no incest, indeed, but luckily next up is Mark of Felicia Day starring Felicia Day as Felicia Day, who is a romance option because otherwise people would be seriously pissed off. Have I mentioned it stars Felicia Day? It does.

Also heh, predictable as endings are. I did dig Corypheus' visual design tho, it was very hellraiser-ish. And a pleasant lack of spiky bits, maybe BioWare is getting over that obsession?

So much for improving the original game's faults. Besides the shitty combats, the worst part are the "cutscene retardation" moments, Hawke can't go and kill that obviously possesed bitch, just because the plot says so.

Sounds like something you'd hear shouted in a pnp campaign.

Not surprised to see it end in a bloodbath again with more padded sumos. Ah, well. To coin another cliche, I thought that one of the original Tevinter mages responsible for the apocalypse would be more...impressive. Or at least have their own major game installment and not relegated to DLC. But then we wouldn't have a neat hook like this:

Twinkle said:

Can't wait to see that choice carried over! :smug:

Well played, Twinkle. Until MOAR!
