depends on powerlevel of your commander...
brawl was always removal heavy. Extra turn spells annoy me more than counter spells.
ANyway I play around that by using commanders that are hard to remove, or which bring card value paired with ramp - like korvold and basically keep recasting until they are out.

Also concede aggressively if you notice that there will be no fun to be had

Is there anyone else in this thread that has the dreaded unity error crash on startup?

Everytime I get it I have to fully uninstall the game (cleaning the registry) and install it all over again....and it works until there's an update,no matter how minimal. And wotc support is useless

ive tried runo h brawl... dont

It was supposed to be a meme deck but it fails even when on rare occasion you get paired against another such.
Unless you just pack it with counterspells and removal but then... why play him in first place.

highlight was dropping kiora and staring at her in confusion as for few turns she does nothing. Much flavor. Nothing beats having runo finally flip only to eat removal.

Alchemy makes me want to hang myself. And I agree that FotD shouldn't get remvoed from historic brawl. Don't mind Ugin or agent getting whacked since they're both miserable to play against but FotD's reasonable in brawl since it's just a one-of.

The annoying part is I don't really care about alchemy as a format, it cannibalizes standard players but who gives a shit, but the fact that the alchemy cards are going to crawl into historic and historic brawl which means the "Rebalanced" cards are too, god fucking damn it. And if any of those alchemy cards end up being important then it's just more goddamn rare and mythic wildcard sinks in some shitty new packs.

3 mana commander, you draw cards for blasting enemy creatures. Not particularly strong but very enjoyable and capable of stealing games with big swings. Also its nice combination of big-ish creatures and spells

Nothing annoys me more then blue counter spells, I always want to punch the assholes who play a ton of these cards in their decks every time they counterspell me. Hate those players.

Anyways loving Alchemy in Historic Brawl, it makes things alot more interesting.

Had alot of fun with Devil Planeswalker summoning devils in my Purphoros Bronzeblooded deck, the bugger is like have a seperate deck and mana rock to cast them in one.

The weirdest has to be in my Serra Mono White deck, beating an opponent with couple of black Champions of the Perish, and a black Headless Horseman thanks to Ominous Traveller.

The Frog Horror is a fun Commander, but that deck needs work, I keep coming close to wins, but losing at the end most often.

Oh and I also love Souleater equipment, seeking mana value creatures card equal to the damage dealt is fun.

i just did a Kaldheim 7-2 quick draft. feels good. first time i reached 7 wins. also grabbed a nice chariot. sadly no blood on the snow.

took them fucking long enough to finally implement some cards fit for the digital age

in any other scenario this would spell a promising trend, but knowing wotc they will promptly forget about this foray, because the cost-benefit analysis is in favour of only developing cards that are playable in all formats, not just the digital

That fucking serum visions sleeve is calling to me again. Have yet to buy any cosmetics in MTGA except for the couple times they had card styles for 10 gold before they got stingy on their sales, but I really like that damn sleeve. It's not worth nearly two packs of cards but HNNNNNNNNNNNGH.

Also thinking about picking up that 20 pack discounted alchemy bundle. I don't want to play alchemy but since they're stinking up historic and historic brawl I'm considering it, and bare minimum that's 20 packs along the wildcard track at 750 gold a pop. Gold being the preferred way to buy it since gems are worth five times gold when it comes to (Most stuff in) the store, but they're way better when it comes to buying draft entries since 750 gems x 5 is only 3,750 gold. As much as I enjoy playing Magic and as much as MTGA is still less of a pain in the ass and less expensive than paper, I do really hate trying to keep an eye on all this shit.

ive cried inside but ive gotten msdos snow lands. I love how they look, I hate provided snow lands and there are quite few great cards to be used in hb requiring them. Now hear me out... somehow, they are default snow land whenever you import/create deck! It might be temporary though due to it just being latest land i acquired, hope it stays this way for snow land imports forever.
As far as sleves go, I obtain every single one I find even remotely interesting. Only one I didnt grab was naked fairy sleeve because at a time I was out of gold. Cant wait for it to come back. I think I utilize like 1/3 of them.

Ive watched some yt vids of alchemy format. It looks like cancer and not magic you like/are used to.
New cards got even higher power, they spawn cards out of nowhere and everyone seem to be casting shit for 1 mana. You even see eldraine or mystical archive stuff being spawned.
Some cards seem nice in vacuum but so far I resisted adding them to my hb decks.
Conjuring cards from spellbook is what I dislike the most so its hard for me to judge rest of it. Cost lowering seem bad but maybe it will be ok on its own? Seek and other card alteration like deathtouch counters seem ok

Worst part was having to edit historic/hb decks because of alchemy. Mainly because of shapeshifter land

Yeah, I did. Of all the sleeves I've gotten from mastery passes and shit the one I've been using the most is that Innistrad rotation one with the phases of the moon or whatever. Nice and simple and clean. Broke down on the serum versions sleeve since I really like that art and it translates well to sleevedom, and feels "Deck neutral" enough I don't think I'll care playing it with whatever.

I kinda like how those snowlands look too, but I haven't seen them "In the wild" yet so I'm not sure how they look while in play. Still kinda holding out for some old fart land arts too, since a lot of the previous old land art on offer isn't old enough for me. I have no idea how MTGA determines what the "Default" land is. I think it's whatever the most recently added type was so you may be safe with snow lands for a while unless that return to Dominaria gets us some Ice Age shit.

As for alchemy, yeah. Shit's feeling more Hearthstone with 2drop dragons reducing the cost of all dragons in hand and shit like that. Mechanics like that can be alright in other card games I just don't particularly want them in Magic. And also yeah, some of those obscene value engine cards feel like they'd probably be playable in historic and/or brawl. Like key to the archive, a 4 mana mana rock that produces 2 mana in any color combination and when it enters the battlefield you draft a mystic archive card, and since key to the archive provides color fixing you'll be able to play whatever. And the goddamn 2 mana werewolf of infinite card advantage and it specifically always pulls gas out of your opponent's deck because of computer fuckery. Don't REALLY want all that shit in historic (Brawl I don't care as much (Although the card edits are annoying)) but I guess it's probably worth getting the discounted packs at the very least just for general play. Fucking wizards. Especially if they continue that with every set like they're implying, and I doubt the future sets are going to have the freebie packs this one did and maybe not even this 20 card bundle just to make it more of a pain to keep stocked on cards.

Edit: And then just after I post that I knock out my daily and see someone with the pixel snow lands. Those do look really nice in-action.

if vorinclex is in play and wrenn and seven gets played, does wrenn and seven come with 10 loyalty counters on it???

  • Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider : The player who controls the creature make all counter additions, including Loyalty counters by planeswalkers' abilities, that added to them double. Also, they enter the battlefield with double loyalty counters. Opposing players' planeswalkers enter the battlefield with half the loyalty counters they would normally do and gain half the counters, even the abilities of planeswalkers themselves, rounded down. Also affect spells and abilities that would add loyalty counters overall.
why the fuck would it work like that?
doesn't a planeswalker come with counters on it? do you put the counters on it yourself?

New Dimir walker coming in Kamigawa, Luka. Not terribly exciting in itself but I actually kinda dig it for ninja decks. Seems like a 3 mana walker that isn't outrageously busted but will be good in a certain deck.

Also showed the new basic lands for Kamigawa which are actually quite nice. Don't know if we'll get these as basic lands in Arena or if they'll be like the full art nyx lands where they're a style they'll sell/have in an event but I do like them fairly well.
