I always assumed his codex persona is mostly an act, though it makes you wonder why

Codex Year of the Donut
I remember Pierre, the KOTC games dev talking about HoMM 3 in his interview with Matt Chat not so long ago. I wonder if this event inspired Matt Chat to play it.

I saw that interview, Pierre briefly mentioned it as a great game. The funny part was when Pierre said bards tale but it sounded like bastard haha

I bet Matt has played HoMM 3 before, I think this might be the first strategy/rpg he's covered on his channel tho

SNEG is bringing back some of the best CRPGs and strategy games of all time to GOG and STEAM. Gold box, Black box, silver box and more! Oleg and Artem are super fans of the games they're publishing and have ambitious plans to bring back even more games from the golden age!

Warlords started off as a turn-based fantasy strategy game, and the Battlecry series took that concept into the real-time realm. The consensus among fans of the franchise is that the third game is the best, so that's the one I chose to review for the show. It's a challenging game, but well worth learning the ropes for some intense and highly addictive gameplay with incredible depth.

This episode covers a rather excellent new point-and-click adventure game called Stasis: Bone Totem. Whether you've played the first Stasis or not, you should definitely check out this game. Great atmosphere, story, puzzles, and, if rumor is to be believed, the best characters ever presented in a video game (note: This character is not shown in this video.).

This episode features an interview the PC King, the amazing Mr. Anne Bras. Anne has a massive collection of PC boxed games--in fact, the world's largest. We chat about collecting, archiving, and Anne's own game projects.

Anne Bras' website:

Note: Not to be confused with Ann's Bra Shop!

(yes, Anne is a Dutch male name)

That is certainly a very nice collection. He definitely has pieces I don't but it also appears I have some he doesn't :obviously:. He also collects genres/titles that I don't/won't so he certainly has more games in terms of raw numbers. The way he displays the games is also quite haphazard. I'm not sure the reasoning as cRPGs seem to be in many different sections. Maybe because of this (I didn't spend hours looking at them) but my cRPG collection seems more complete. Again, he may not have displayed everything or have updated pictures. He has some very unique pieces in that collection that I wish was in mine. Eh, I still have some years left.

One thing I am jealous of is that people seem to "donate" items to him! Tim Cain is the only one who has done that for me and I had to sell those pieces to pay for my daughter's college!! :argh:

edit: I will be updating the photos of my collection in the coming weeks. I've added quite a few over the last year and am eager to show off to the Codex!

This one might be interesting.

Flint Dille is a screenwriter, game designer, author, and producer with a resume you won't believe. He's worked extensively with George Gygax at TSR (Sagard the Barbarian), but he's probably better known for his work on classic 80s cartoons like GI Joe and Transformers. His game credits include writing and designing for nearly 47 projects, Double Switch, Chronicles of Riddick, Diablo III, and Uncharted. On top of all that, he's written great books on video games. Did I mention Garbage Pail Kids? If you were a kid in the 80s, Flint has undoubtedly worked on something you loved!

Interview with Guybrush:

This episode features the voice of Guybrush Threepwood himself, Mr. Dominic Armato. Dom is an incredible voice actor and a great storyteller, too. Fun times!

This episode features an interview with religion and games professor Dr. Wade Langer, AKA Prof Noctis. We delve into all manner of things related to JRPGs and Final Fantasy, but from an angle you probably haven't heard discussed before! Wade has phenomenal insights into what makes JRPGs different than CRPGs, but he asks some good questions, too!

have not watched many of these this year these guests don't tickle my balls

Chris Baker is a writer, critic, marketing and PR specialist, and YouTuber with some amazing credits on his resume. Whether it's Star Wars, Marvel, pinball, or great indie RPGs like Operencia and Circus Electrique, Chris is the man with the plan. Somehow, despite all these accomplishments, he's still down-to-earth, level-headed, and a super fun guy to talk to. Enjoy!

This episode covers the new Warhammer 40K game by Owlcat: Rogue Trader. If you like Xenos-Com style combat and dark, lore-heavy sci-fi/fantasy worlds, don't plan on getting to bed early. I can't give it a full-throated recommendation due to myriad game-crashing bugs, but hopefully the bulk of those will be patched in short order. I hope so, anyway, because it'd be utter heresy to see so much potential go to waste! Just to be sure to save often!

MC517: eXo of eXoDOS

This is an interview with eXo of eXoDOS, a totally rad collection of DOS games, manuals, magazines, you name it, and we're not just talking major releases here. Not sure how to configure DOSBox but still want to play the classics, complete with features like MT-32 support for kickass audio? You're going to love what this man is doing. Beyond that, he's a great preservation evangelist and has some of the best arguments I've heard for why this work is important and worthy of our support.
