Is it better as a shooter than Painkiller?

Well now you're not even giving it a chance.

It's a really shit shooter, not quite as bad as Fallout 3, but the boring environments, 'mission' based gameplay, and universal ammo all seem like extreme consoletardation. And the Mass in Mass Effect is still for Massive loading screens. Plus it's got a shit load of bugs. Characters popping in and out during conversations, cut scenes, walking around. At one point the pc somehow jumped (which is odd in itself since you can only vault over low cover objects Gears of War style) and hung there forcing a reload. Then at one point the game came to a halt with the message Sign In change detected, Sign Out and Restart to Continue.

Who gives a rats ass what you label it? Why does everything have to be put into a clearly defined box? All I want to know is - is it fun?

ME wouldn't be fun for me even if I'd be getting a blowjob while playing it.

This makes me think you have never received a blow job and thus lack the proper frame of reference.
No, I think too much (heee) of what I'm doing right now.
It'd be like "oooh that's good" but then I'd realize I'm playing ME and go limp.
Same reason I probably enjoy different music than you do, or books or movies
That's okay, I don't give a shit. At least as long as Codex doesn't cover every new music album/book/movie that comes out.
You seem to be suggesting that a game doesn't need to be fun as long as it has the codex approved level of RPGness
I seem to think that it's pathetic that RPGCodex, once oh-so-highly critical site about RPG games has declined so hard it now covers shooters. Newsflash: if I wanted to read about new xtreme shooters for console kids I'd read gamefaqs forums.
And don't worry about Codex approval, a good game is always fun, a fun game isn't always good.

Maybe we're not next-gen enough. I come here for 2 things: rpgs and trannies. Well, now only for trannies.

If ME2 still carries on ME1's tradition of forced auto aim, its not a shooter. Shooters require you to aim. ME has transcended both RPG and shooter boundaries to become a mouse driven cinematic experience.

Doom had vertical autoaim. Only horizontal aiming was unassisted. If you aimed straight ahead, you'd automatically target enemies perched high above you. Doom's considered a shooter, last time I checked.

ME2 is being loved by the Codex just like DA and even Fallout 3 was good, these 2 sites are retarded, Codex knows that in true RPG you pick haircuts and blow heads off with a big gun

So, eberyone calling ME series a 'shooter'... waht's the difference in your mind between an action game and a shooter.

is action = sword

shooter = guns

Seriosuly, that's why those the shooter genre is so silly because all it is action lol

Anyways, ME2 is an action rpg.

Talents do effect game play, there's C&C (not as much as I'd like mind you), and pretty much all that other shit people here supposedly jizz over.

Then again, the Codex still retardedly claim that BG1 is BIO's best RPG. L0LZ

So WTF does it know? Fuck all.

But Volly, I agree with you - ME2 is a true RPG and has lots of true C&C - like choosing whether to threaten the guy nicely or harshly which gives you real renegade or paragon points. Piece of shit like Fallout has the whole mob going after you if you've threatened the wrong guy, that's no C&C

Ya know, the team Bioware picked to do Mass Effect 2 just worked. This is perhaps the best game Bioware has done since Baldur's Gate 2.

I am enjoying this MUCH more than Dragon Age.
