BTW, you guys might not be aware of this, but there are already a bunch of "popamole" M&M spinoffs:

Might & Magic: Heroes Kingdoms, an Evony-ish browser MMO: http://mightandmagicheroeskingdoms.ubi.com/
Might & Magic: Heroes Online, another browser game: http://us.heroes-online.com/ (fucking great graphics on this one!)
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes, a mobile-centric Heroes with animu graphics: http://mightandmagic.uk.ubi.com/clashofheroes/ (I hear this one's actually pretty good for what it is)
Might & Magic: Duel of Champions, a digital collectible card game, competing with Hearthstone and the like: https://www.duelofchampions.com/ (ask Grunker about this ;) )

I don't think there's a MOBA, though. They're all turn-based.

Well, if that's what Zeriel is hoping for I think he just might get another "Might & Magic" game.

Can sounds good if it allows GOG to add it to their library in a near futur, but of course it will depend on the Ubi's "wisdom" too

Seriously, a fucking Might & Magic online FPS... who the hell thought of this?

Jon Van Caneghem.

WHERE ARE YOUR IDOLS NOW?!

As much as people like to shit on Limbic, they have more of a desire to do proper Might & Magic games than anyone else, including the original creators. Limbic didn't embrace this dystopian future--Caneghem did.

I doubt JVC was actually involved with most of 3DO's latter-day attempts to keep themselves alive via console shovelware. These were the Might & Magic equivalent of Fallout: BOS.

NWC did do Legends of Might & Magic, though.

JVC came up with the mandate to start pushing into FPSes, yeah. He talked about it in our interview with him a few years back.

Most game designers have a tiny bomb inside their brains that go BAM after one or two decades, I think...

Must be some middle-age crisis... "kids today all play FPS and not my games, I should try to get into that...".

RPG Codex: Were there any role-playing games you designed that failed to see the light of day for some reason? If there were, is there anything you can share about them?

JVC: I wanted to make a 3D first person action RPG, something like Might and Magic meets Diablo. After lengthy development we had problems with the engine and tech would not support the game design, so it was abandoned. But we needed a game to ship so we salvaged what we could and quickly came up with "Legends of Might and Magic," a fantasy FPS.

I'm always happy to see grbg fail to meet sales expectations, so I hope that's the case here. :)

Seems they're dropping any ideas of future DLC officially with this release.

I suspect we will see MMXI being announced fairly soon.
Here's hoping they will use another game engine this time around.

Here's hoping they never make another one.

How is Duel of Champions "popamole"? It's just about the most "hardcore" f2p TCG out there. Other three are trash though.

Amen.

I wonder if Limbic got permission for their in-game references and poking fun at Ubisoft. It would be a shame if the hammer was dropped on them for trying to be too clever by half.

It was actually the reason JVC sold NWC to 3DO, he thought they had the resources to let him build the game. Didn't work out the way he'd planned it, though.

I hope you aren't one of those people that think MMX = Modern WoX

I thought we all played the game already

There's two types of people on the Codex:

Those who like to bitch about the decline, and would rather have nothing if it's not perfect.

Those who like to bitch about the decline, but would prefer something that is sort of good to nothing.

I'm happy to say I'm in the latter group. I'd prefer a million M&M X Legacies to stuff like Pillars of Eternity, let alone AAA titles that we cover like Witcher 3. I guess what I'm trying to say is I really like blobbers, and more sort-of-okay ones would be nice.
