On top of all the other things, I wonder if they'll inject the game with the kind of grimdark angst and pathos that the series never had. The wonder of M&M was in its absurd free for all that just 'worked' so you never questioned the reason for hundreds of creature 'x' in the middle of nowhere existing just so you could mow them down or fighting dragons from way up high in the sky with laser pistols. They can make it as true to the series as possible with step blobber movement and combat but if they lose the M&M charm in favor of Biowarean opera that would almost be even worse than making it a third person action game.
So what you are basically telling us is that you'd take a third person action game over a well executed party-based classic dungeon crawler with turn-based combat and serious tone...because what you need in your RPeeGeez is charm?
:hmmm:

HoMM is a very specific case. Everyone raged at 4, no one played 5+ past the campaigns for real. If I see anyone playing HoMM for realz in MP its Wake of Gods.

HOMM4 is great, stop the lies.

Heh, it was fresh but very broken in my opinion.
A lot of friends I know either adapted or just gave up on the series completely upon experiencing the 4th game.

It might also have something to do with my 4 Barbarian doomstack, decked in full store gear just raping the countryside on hotseat matches while sniping dragons and other high lvl creatures at no cost when retreating
The real problem of IV was that it absolutely needed another half a year of development, at least. It wasn't finished, and it showed.

Fucking 3DO :x

It's all clear now. Didn't think someone that ACTUALLY PLAYED Might and Magic wouldn't understand what I was getting at. A normal person would understand that calling this 'Might and Magic' and then making it a hardcore grind full of dark pathos no matter how accurate it is mechanically does not make it a Might and Magic game, and it would ALMOST BE WORSE(see http://www.englishforeveryone.org/Topics/Reading-Comprehension.htm for help in comprehension skills) than making it a third person action game.

Well, than I'm going to have to refer you to this Writing Practice because even if you really wanted to state what you claim now, you were nowhere near it with the original post.

I played M&M and the fact that they had some silly design concepts, many of them forced by technical limitations, doesn't make them better games for me. I give it too you, this is part of their "charm", but there is absolutely no way preserving such peculiarities in a new game would work. It would just be considered stupid. I want the good stuff to be transferred from the old M&M games to a potential continuation, not the bad. The same way I wouldn't want the RTwP in a potential Baldur's Gate 3, just because the 1st two titles in the series had it.

Anyway, I was honestly just trolling you, so there was no need for the dramatic butthurt :troll:

The decline had already started with VII, New World Computing had contractual obligations with 3DO that forced them to drastically shorten their development cycles, and it shows. VI was a much more complete and polished product, with a lot more content and a much bigger world.

The decline started with MM3 and continued until MM5. Compared to MM1 and 2 it was dumbed down and streamlined with popamole combat.

This... is actually good news. I don't give a fuck about the charm, or the original series; never was too emotional about it. If it's a fairly decent TB blobber with good production values I'm all in. Though knowing Ubisoft I'll still play the pirated version until they remove/relax the DRM.

A turn based blobber, from a AAA Publisher in 2013. I might be having a nervous breakdown. Am I still dreaming or something?

April 1st?
No, still more than a week to...

Maybe the suits have finally realized that there actually is a market for old school CRPGs?
