I hate VATS. Link?

It doesn't replace VATS, just gives you another option. I don't like vats all that much either so most of the time I just use this instead.

playing on very hard, got dlc 10mm pistol and it takes 1 sneak hs to kill almost everything i'm supposed to (ie: not feral ghouls or giant radscorpions). that's p. much only way to play it though, just encountered radscorpion and it took about 30 shots to kill it, while jumping around like retard all the time.

Well, if I decide to get NV, I think I'll do something like this:
ST6 PE4 EN10 CH1 IN10 AG4 LU5. Should be a walk in the park.

Unless CH, AG and PE stopped being useless?

Depends on your build. You need 6 perception for the Better Criticals perk. Agility is useful for AP related perks (also, it lets you move faster now). It's also a pre-req for silent running, which is a must for any sneak based build.

Basically, take a look at the perks list and see what you need for whatever you're making:

I have the impression Agility is too important. Small Gunners need it, Melee / Unarmed need it (moving aster = less shots to the face), Sneakers need it...

i play guns sneaker and have agi 6 (5+ small frame), and that's only for perks... while you get few points in sneaking/guns, you can spend more points on intelligence, and i don't think that speed makes really difference (you either run and with jumping and shit evade attacks or you're screwed anyway)

it's probably a must have for VATS players though

Don't start with 10 in any stat, you can buy implants for +1 to each. You are limited to 1 implant per EN you have though (and there are 2 additional implants ontop of the stats), so having 9 EN/9 INT is probably the best framework to make a build around.

Here's a mod that makes throwing items (like Spears) retrievable, as well as gives you the option to make your own with the right materials.

Improved Throwing

Also, here are the rest of the mods I've mentioned before, all in one place.

I'm playing on Very Hard/Hardcore Mode I'm actually not finding the game very hard. I use a scoped varmit rifle and with a little planning and caution nothing ever gets a change to attack me so I have a huge stockpile of ammo.

The only difficulty comes from the shortage of skill points even with 10 intellegence. I want high skills in lockpick, science and speech but at level 8 there haven't been enough points to go around so I'm failing speech checks, of which there are quite a few, in order to have access to all the locked doors/terminals I've come across but I haven't been able to get my skills high enough here either so I've had to pass by several locked doors. This isn't a complaint. I think it plays very well and it's nice not to always be ahead of the curve like I was in Fallout 3. I've had to make good use of the magazines which are fairly rare.

:incline:

Just wanted to say I'm constantly failing science, repair and medicine checks, of which (to my surprise) there's quite a few in this game's sidequests, making it quite worthwhile, it seems, to invest in these skills. At least that's the impression I'm getting so far.

IMO it's very nice that AG makes you move faster now. I've no idea why that wasn't the case in F3 - "look at me, I'm agile as fuck, but all I got to show for it are a few not-so-useful VATS points".

Let me know once Animated Prostitution and a bunch of intercompatible "make a sex slave and a pimpable whore out of NPC X" mods are in, so I could replace the old F3 with this new one.

Energy weapons def need something, probably a energy weapon specific DT on armor would be better, but will try it out.

Any mods that tone down (or remove) the "killing shot on limb = limb is severed and flies in a random direction" 'feature'?

How does NV compare to F3 + FWE?

I enjoyed F3+FWE because it was far more challenging than F3 vanilla, is basic NV at about the same difficulty level?
