God damn, I hope they nerf that, seriously, I can kill any critter in one hit, bar deathclaws and the butterbee things. The butterbee things go down in 3 hits, and the death claws go down in something like 8. Raiders go down in 1 hit, fiend officers in 3, or if I sneak attack them 1. Motherfucking broken, though it should have been obvious from the fact that it deals ONE HUNDRED AND ONE DAMAGE PER HIT, more than a point blank retard takes standing directly on top of a nade or mine. The only down side is it's relatively low rate of fire. About one every 2 seconds is able to be fired, still when you kill most things in one hit, you don't really have to worry about that. Also, the ammo types are incendiary, which is another level of broken, and armor piercing.

As if a character with the best equipment in FO1/2 weren't untouchable gods that killed everything in a shot or two? The Gauss Rifle does even more damage btw, and also has a 2x critical multiplier. There is also a unique Gauss Rifle with even more damage . TBH the only thing that makes them ridiculous is the sneak attack criticals. Otherwise weapons that shoot 3x as fast with 1/2 the damage per shot aren't doing too bad after you factor in damage reduction.

As far as easy to find and overpowered weapons go, check out the REPCONN headquarters. No enemies, a unique plasma rifle with good damage, something like 500 Microfusion cells to power it, and a free suit of Power Armor (which my AI buddy needed to equip so that he could carry all that ammo, shit weighed 50 pounds). To find the place, go North up the highway near Goodsprings and before the highway turns West take the nearby roads to the East.

Bought it for I want to say 3000 caps or so, from the Gun Runners, this was of course after I broke every casino's earning limit, getting something like 72,000 from each because the slot machines are retarded, and oranges give you a x360 reward if you get the right one, sat for 3 hours getting those oranges to come up. Also GRRR ultra lux doesn't have any slots.

True, still rediculous that I stumbled into an insanely powerful weapon at level 7, and that I had 250,000 caps at the same time.

True, deathclaws still equal death if you are unprepared.

Got that, couldn't get my companion to equip it though for some reason, which sucked ass.

I'm LARPing power armor rambo, so I have a massively high rate of fire gun and a sniper rifle.

Oblivion nigger-human voice in FO3, and now I keep hearing Oblivion nigger-elf voices in New Vegas. As well as some other voices I recognize from TES.

How many voice actors do Bethesda really use? 5? Are they all in-house?

Yeah, I'll agree that this is a bit silly. FO didn't let you buy power armor and gauss rifles when you got to the Hub. It should require effort to find. Gambling is another problem. Luck was already a really strong stat, it didn't need an infinite pile of money to make it more attractive.

I found a plasma rifle and ammo in a frigging toilet in Primm Steve Bison casino.
That was silly... no, it was totally stupid.

1 frag grenade, 1 pulse grenade, and 1 plasma grenade, in the first floor's men's bathroom, once you get the clue from the magic 8-ball.

Energy weapons seem broken, with lasers even leather armor wearing raiders laugh at you while you pew pew with your little pop gun. And with plasma they need to be polite and stand still while your ball of superheated death glacially lurches toward them, one herp derp animation and you've missed. Sure if you catch them with a sneak critical you can reduce them to ash/goo, but I'm pretty sure even the varmint rifle can one shot sneak kill anything short of a deathclaw or those new supermoths. Charging the ammo produces the same effect, but you run out much faster.

FO didn't have gauss rifles. You could, however, get power armor and a plasma rifle (both upgraded) without firing a single shot.

That's been my impression so far as well. Although I haven't tried any of the more powerful stuff yet.

The incinerator's been working well for me on low to medium strength enemies though. Can get one very early too, which should carry you to NV at least.

why make the game harder for yourself? if you play normal/hardcore or hard/hardcore you should expect some challenge and if that isn't presented regardless of weapons used then it's a fault with the game. gear is part of character progression and you shouldn't have to hold yourself back to have a challenging experience - THAT is :retarded:

Since you play a game to have fun, making things harder for yourself is preferable to make things boring.

Commie didn't say it isn't a valid fault of the game, only that keeping using it despite thinking it makes the game boring is a questionable decision.

This game's got some of the worst voice actors I ever heard. I'm even starting to miss the Redguard/nigger from Oblivion/F3.

Yeah, Energy weapons are really weak early in the game. I decided to go with an energy weapon character and even when I had 60 in my energy weapon skill and less then 20 in my guns skill the varmint rifle was significantly better then the laser pistol.

Later plasma weapons are good with stealthy characters that have a high critical hit rate, though. All of them have critical rate multipliers and critical damage boosts. Using the one I mentioned above, I crit probably half the time and crits do over 100 damage. VATS can hit moving targets if you can't lead them well enough on your own.

He's there, as well as someone who sounds like the black maitre d' dude from one of the twin shows on Disney.

Also it's much better than both of those games in the voice acting regard. You cannot get worse than Oblivion in terms of voice acting without going to something like the VGA live action adventure games, that were prevalent for a long while.

what was your LCK? The 3x orange would've given me only 160x, tho with 200 max. bet it would've still been a nice 32k. Since the slots were crappy (wtf no locking reels or multiple lines) I made an AHK script to autoclick the thing, but with my 5 luck it went bust from 8,000 chips.

Ah awesome. Apparently my good character's killed so many Powder Gangers over the course of his journey that I'm their group's boogeyman. I talked to one of their members who got crippled by the Legion and he started cussing up a storm the moment he recognized me. I like how all these little encounters change depending on your status with the groups around the Wasteland.

"...and now walks in our personal fucking Grim Reaper!"

10 lck, with the four points of intensive training added in. I think I may have mixed up the number and got scads of cash elsewhere though, I'm not sure.

I agree slots were absolute shit though, I got an orange roll 17 times where it didn't count because it locked one of them in the split line. RAEG was had, much RAEG was had, after I did the slots and bought the rifle I killed everyone in the Ceasars camp, setting up something like 40 mines in the main tent to kick it off.

As it is right now, I have 99,450 caps yet to be spent, my suites and safehouses are all upgraded fully, and my main weapon load out is a unique grenade machine gun, Faith, or Mercy I think, the anti-material rifle, and a massive rate of fire machine gun, that I'm not sure where I obtained, if someone get close to me, I have mister pushy, which is a unique displacer fist, I'm in t51b power armor, that I bought legitimately, and have thousands of denarii's and ncr bucks I haven't exchanged yet. I could probably buy the new vegas strip if I wanted to. I have given up on companions and have 2 sitting somewhere where they are safe, so I still benefit from their perks. I still need to look into finding the implant place.

As I said earlier I'm playing a power armor rambo, I meant it, I've gone charging into a massive firestorm against I think 12 or 14 enemies, and they were all dead, I was at half health, before I used my first stimpak of the fight. THIS IS ON VERY HARD WITH HARDCORE MODE ACTIVE! About the only thing that kills me nowadays are multiple deathclaws, or the fucking castadon butterbee things.

Couldn't be assed to catch up on this thread, but goddamn I am enjoying this game. It really does capture the spirit of the originals in my opinion. I kind of trudged through 3, thinking well I payed for it, might as well finish. I don't want this game to end. I haven't had this much fun with a game in god knows how long. It is amazing how much more Obsidian could put into this thing in a year than Bethesda could in however long they took to crap out their turd.

Well considering the only new assets used for the games were the ones on the vegas strip and a few weapons and armors, they didn't really have to do as much. Bethesda did all the ground work for them. NV is basically a mod. Nehrim over Oblivion is more impressive than NV over FO3.

That said I've had a pretty good time in NV. I liked the white glove society thing. Too bad every casino/gang only has like one quest line then it's all over.

I have to say Fallout : NV is overall a huge step forward compared to Fallout 3. Every location is fun and interesting to explore while piecing together what exactly is happening within that area, moral ambiguity is definitely present and quests can be resolved in many ways without it being unnatural and tacked on. There's a lot of silliness but I have had a few chuckles at the dev humor so I like the fact that it's that sort of humor rather than "lol wow the dialogue is horrid". Overall liking it so far, has a few flaws in terms of game design and there a lot of bugs but I am liking the game overall.

The game did abruptly go from tough to much easier when I managed to get 2 companion. Before though I literally couldn't explore off road because enemies were so hard to kill so it's not a bad thing. I still wouldn't be able to kill a deathclaw just yet.

I thought a lot of areas were very shallow. Entire towns with just 4-5 interactive NPCs. Casinos with only a few people with more than one-lines. The small amount of dialog that is actually in the game is quite good though. Except for the Bethesda-like tutorial conversations. And every conversation with Oblivion VA.

Starting a new character, I was almost done with the main quest but it got boring, and I made some bad choices. Any suggestions on a build?
