A TRULY OPEN UNIVERSE

Whether a distant mountain or a planet hanging low on the horizon, you can go there. You can fly seamlessly from the surface of a planet to another, and every star in the sky is a sun that you can visit.

Where you’ll go and how fast you’ll make your way through this universe is up to you. It’s yours for the taking.

EXPLORATION IS SEEING THINGS NO ONE HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE

Explore uncharted solar systems and catalogue unique new forms of life. Every planet’s landscape is different from the next, and populated by species never before encountered.

Find ancient artefacts that could reveal the secrets behind the universe.

Choose whether to share your discoveries with other players. They’re exploring the same vast universe in parallel; perhaps you’ll make your mark on their worlds as well as your own.

SURVIVE ON A DANGEROUS FRONTIER

Every solar system, planet, ocean and cave is filled with danger, and you are vulnerable.

Your ship and suit are fragile, and every encounter can test your skills to the limit. From dogfighting in space to firstperson combat on a planet’s surface, you will face foes ready to overwhelm you.

And one mistake could see you lose everything. In No Man’s Sky, every victory and every defeat has lasting consequences.

BUILD FOR AN EPIC JOURNEY

Whether you want to explore and see things never before discovered, or directly set course for the centre of the galaxy, how you play No Man’s Sky is up to you.

But you cannot take your voyage lightly. You’ll need to prepare.

Collect precious resources on the surfaces of planets and trade them for the ships, suits and equipment that will take you to your destiny in the stars.

This game will either never come out, or you will enjoy your bare-essentials space combat and then land on a planet with slightly more elongated dinosaurs than on that other planet, and, you know, walk around.

I definitely think it'll come out, but like many devs before them they'll spend so much time and effort on this one marketable aspect of the game that they won't have resources to actually add depth to the gameplay.

No Man's Sky dev among first speakers at DICE 2015

Initial lineup includes Sean Murray, Ru Weerasuriya, Tracy Fullerton and Tom Kalinske

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, which puts on the annual D.I.C.E. Summit, has announced that registration is now open for the 2015 event, and the first wave of speakers has been revealed.

Headlining the talks at next year's D.I.C.E. are Hello Games' Sean Murray (currently working on No Man's Sky), Ready at Dawn boss Ru Weerasuriya (working on PS4 exclusive The Order: 1886), Tracy Fullerton, associate professor and chair of the Interactive Media & Games Division of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and Tom Kalinske, Executive Chairman and co-founder of Global Education Learning and vice chairman of Leapfrog.

D.I.C.E. 2015 will explore the theme of "Without Borders," said Martin Rae, president, AIAS: "This theme kicked off at D.I.C.E. Europe in September as a starting point for discussion of the industry's expanding culture, a culture that is seeing past barriers dissipate as we continue rapid growth and evolution. Our speakers will bring their own interpretation of this theme, focusing on the expanding opportunities for the interactive entertainment industry with an eye towards the global marketplace, technology, creativity, emerging markets, diversity, and more."

The event will take place February 3-5, 2015, at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas and will close with the 18th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

i still remember some E3 panel talking about the game: "Wow that No Man's Sky looked hella cool! "Yeah wow truly revolutionary and staggering!" "The people presenting it are so humble and vague. that is a sign of true genius!" "Hey guys i forget, what did they say you do in the game?" "uhhhh" "uhhhhh" "uhhh" "the space combat looked ok"

- space combat
- trading
- collecting resources on planets for money, equipment
- upgrade your ship and equipment or buy new ones on space stations
- ground combat
- explore planets by foot/ship, you can swim underwater too
- you can be a pirate
- the main goal is to reach the center of the galaxy
- there will be some kind of evil enemy to defeat

You know, everything on this list is also planned for Elite: Dangerous. SC comes close but lacks the galactic scale.

Don't forget Limit Theory, Brady.

Also, all of that was already done 21 years ago.

Those are hardcore space simulators (boredom simulators). No man's sky aims to be fun, not boring.

With shitty graphics. This time it will be decent.

I doubt you will be able to swim in elite. And the planet landings are just plans or if you referred to this kind of landing then i didn't say anything.

Yes, that's why I said they are planned. The point though is that No Man's Sky is losing its appeal because there are other titles out on the market, that will also be cross-platform capable, and which will eventually offer very similar experiences.
