It's like Starbound but without base construction or digging, though they are adding the base construction in the next patch. It will most likely just be placing the same prefab buildings already dotted around planets, though. The game is very shallow so wouldn't expect much depth from any additions.

Speaking of which, the fact that every planet has dozens of little outposts and structures dotted around the landscape really detracts from the feeling of exploring an uncharted world. It's hard to feel like you're in a vast uncharted universe when a bunch of goofy aliens got there before you, every time.

Today is the day. :bounce:

Some time in the next 24 hours Makabb will be given the game of his dreams. The one that he thinks he will be playing for the rest of his life and then around Monday he'll realize that he's been made used of.
He will if course never admit it, but you can rely that sometime within the next 3 days his heart will break and he will never be able to believe in something again.

Naga please, Makabb won't even bother pirating it.

By the way, in case anyone didn't know, No Man's Sky is a clone of an older game called Noctis.

It's also an indie game about exploring a vast, randomly generated universe with a spaceship, landing on planets and recording your findings. It even has the feature of uploading your discoveries for other players to see, although for Noctis you had to send a ZIP file with your discoveries to the developer, who would add it to the master file everyone needed to download.

Yeah, I remember Noctis from my Home of the Underdogs days. There was a user from Hungary there (The Premier) that kept discussion about it alive, but he never went full Makabb.

Meanwhile, No Man's Sky only seems to deliver quality in this thread...we even got The Fedorabot making a rare post in a gaming thread.

The mods deliberately leave it here to annoy us, and because Makabb is one of the most talented entertainers in this freakshow of ours.

I imagine Makabb is

Masturbating Furiously
Covered in Semen
Crying Profusely

Zep--

He has built a small altar around his computer and is currently dressed like Benicio Del Toro, listening to 65daysofstatic and painting images of Barbara Streisand, waiting until the first torrent appears.

How can you be so negative? Today a new era in humanity is about to begin. In fact we are only 3 hours from it!

And Makabb knew it. God damn, he always knew it ..

He'd been pummelled by mediocricy and frustration all his life, and games that stopped being fun after a few hours or days. But deep in his heart he always knew that one day a .. miracle was going to happen.

The day has arrived!! Today Makabb's life will take a completely new turn. From now on it will be only neverending bliss.

Today God will descend and his name is Sean Murray!! And he brings us the formula that generates neverending fun. It's called procetural generation!!

It will simply never become boring. Once it is turned on it will never stop generating fun, fun, and more fun!

I know you are laughing now, but you won't be laughing in a few hours, when every every news site and on every TV channel will stop everything else and report how the world has practically come to a standstill and everyone now just wants to be playing NMS.

You only have a few hours left until Steam gives the Holy Bytes free. They already have them. They probably are already in Heaven right now. Once they are free, from then on everything is going to be .. wonderful, simply wonderful.

Here some guy at Steam is revealing what he's just seen and filmed it.

Bah, fuck. I was just about to post about Noctis. Enormous scale, variety and no time-sink crafting garbage.

Called it as shit awhile back. Good to see developers don't fail to deliver.
The game is out, you can ban Makabb now since he has no purpose anymore.

Or at least give him a plant to the collection.
