Codex Year of the Donut
Released on GOG recently is
Planet's Edge: The Point of no Return
A sci-fi cRPG from 1991.

Received coverage in Dragon Magazine #182
Some sites list it simply as "Planet's Edge" and there seems to be confusion over the exact release date. Was "The Point of no Return" an updated version or are they the same game?

From the setting transpires the existence of past cataclysmic events, the existence of old advanced alien races now extint, and their legacy in terms of ruins and mysterious tech.

Does E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy qualify? I haven't played it, but I've heard it's pretty weird.

'pretty weird' doesn't really give credit to how weird EYE *is*. the entire game feels like you're in a hazy fever dream - this is accented by the shoddy french to english translation, the art and lighting design, and even some of the design decisions. you get dice rolls when you shoot people, because, i don't know, the devs decided a source total conversions needs dice rolls added for damage when you shoot someone. it does work, but it feels almost out of place

and yes, it does qualify

Everything is post-apocalyptic. The whole human recorded history can be seen as post-apocalyptic (in particular from the point of view of a dinosaur or a neanderthal).

Nah, but everything these days is post-apocalyptic. No one can believe any longer that the future we face will be more advanced than the present, and so no one makes games or movies or anything with gleaming space ships and shining cities. Western Civilization is in a steep decline and we're about to fall over the ledge into the abyss, entering a dark future where we're living in cardboard boxes with VR goggles to convince us things are nice like the Matrix or Mona Lisa Overdrive or something. It was better when the only thing we had to worry about was whether we'd nuke each other; now we have to worry about the frothing Marxist hordes subjugating all of us to soviet-style totalitarian slavery.

Star Wolves is really good mercenary space rpg where you control a mother ship with a bunch of fighters and go around doing missions. They are pretty fun games, replayed them a few times back in the day. Good rpg mechanics and interesting setting/story. Also pretty cheap.

Insert Title Here Pathfinder: Wrath
Always loved Privateer. Ascendancy was ahead of it's time if incomplete but not really a cRPG.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Bubbles In Memoria
Has anyone mentioned Deep Sky Derelicts?
It's card based dungeoncrawler in spaceship setting.

Deadnaut is another game which has "search abandoned spacships"-theme.
That one was tactical game with permadeath and some RPG elements.

Inb4 someone argues that presence of derelict spaceships and dead civlisations makes game post-apocalyptic

That looks like Space Rangers 2...it is, isn't it? An HD remake / re-release of it?

Space Rangers 2 was awesome. I remember playing it a lot back in the early 2000s and it was a ridiculous amount of fun. It's a weird mishmash of adventure and RTS and arcade and all sorts of things...and it works. They threw everything but the kitchen sink at it and it works - that's what amazed me.

I remember that series, thought everyone forgot it even existed. It's pretty cool, I even replayed it – not something groundbreaking, but a solid entry into the genre for sure.

Well the idea behind it was pretty good at the time, and not done much in general. It is not a new and unique idea, but very rarely done. It would have been a great game if there was more money and work put behind it. A mercenary carrier ship running around and killing things for money while being a tactical RPG,that would have been great. Also the ship capture aspect was great too. It would be great if there is a new game.
