Well, claims like "Players will be free to choose their path, but must then live with the consequences of their actions" seem to imply that they would be MEANINGFUL consequences. As in, world-changing. Never felt like that in any sandbox mmog tbh. Just saying, the Ultimas C&C DID affect the world. The UO choices didn't.
Actually the quests in Ultima single player games didn't have much if any C&C either, which is another reason to believe that you and Garriott aren't talking about the same thing here.
I meant episodic content for the upcoming game.
Edit: http://sota.ultimacodex.com/2013/03/shroud-of-the-avatar-will-be-a-series/
"…the way we’re releasing Shroud of the Avatar is…well, Forsaken Virtues, in particular, is the first episode of five episodes that are currently intended for Shroud of the Avatar."
but does five episodes mean five kickstarters?
So, should we expect the creation of a griefer's paradise by episode 3, pointless engine change by episode 4 and servers flooded by katana-wielding Sephiroth-clones by episode 7?

Congratulations! I have serious doubts that the project will live up to what I'd like to see (please Kickstart a single-player only Ultima-like!) but whatever happens it should be interesting and there is clearly some interest in this single-player/multi-player/MMO hybrid. Good luck!
Cool. Congrats to LB and team!
Are you WhiteKnighting LB?What is wrong with wishing him for the best on hisdeep story based Single Player GameMMO?
