Arktwend for Morrowind (first mod made by SureAI who'd later make Nehrim and Enderal)
IIRC, they made yet another, earlier mod, also for Morrowind.

Fake edit: It is called Myar Aranath.

Not a single standalone TC but there's The Dark Mod, of course. I haven't checked-in in a while so I wonder what those boys are up to these days, and what new FMs there are.

For Mount & Blade (not Warband) there's Solid and Shade, which turns the game into a spooky Poe-inspired horror game.
Doom II:
Action Doom 2
Ghoul School 3D

TCs for the original Empire at War:

Empire at War Remake:
(On going)
https://www.moddb.com/mods/empire-at-war-re

Graphics and gameplay balance mod for the original Empire at War, pretty much overhauls the entire graphics to modern standards that look incredible as if you were fighting space fights right out of the movies but keeping gameplay mostly intact with a few additions on the unit rooster and balance changes. Go here if you just want nice graphix that look like movie battles. Last I checked they were still to release the ground battles.

Empire at War: Awakening of the Rebellion:
(released)

https://www.moddb.com/mods/awakening-of-the-rebellion-2

Really overhauls the Empire At War campaign, it is almost a new game where all factions feel drastically different to play, also changes ground combat alot and for the better(it was the weaker link on the original game). It is the TC with the best gameplay on my opinion.

Empire at War: Expanded Thraws Revenge and Fall of the Republic
(released)

https://www.moddb.com/mods/star-wars-thrawns-revenge-iii
https://www.moddb.com/mods/thrawns-revenge

Also overhaul the Empire At War campaign, there are multiple campaigns with multiple timelines. Fall of the Republic covers the Fall of the Republic with you siding with Palpatine consolidating his power or Mon Mothma trying to save the jedis, there are different heroes and mechanics depending of the timeline, including Clone Wars stuff. Thrawns revenge is also really good but it is more focused on expanded universe lore porn for hopeless nerds that care about that stuff after Kathleen Kennedy butchered it.

Battletech: Advanced 3062
(Released)

https://www.bta3062.com/index.php/Main_Page

Well, the Battletech video game from Harebrained Schemes had a few... particular gameplay choices that lead to a series of problems, Advanced 3062 is one of the three main TCs for Battletech that fix those issues, there is Extended 3025 that is the light modded version and more like a balance and light content mod than a TC, there is Roguetech that is a kitchen sink monstrocity of a TC and there is Advanced 3062 that is a TC for people that hate vanilla Battletech video game but are scared of the autism and everything goes attitude of Roguetech.

Civlization III: Warhammer Fantasy (and some other fantasy mods I can't name, but were present)
Civilization Call to Power: Forever Future
Civilization IV: Fall from Heaven 2, Dune. And a lot of timeline extensions and smaller mods.
Dominions 4: Warhammer Fantasy (partly finished)
Dominions 5: Warhammer Fantasy, Omniomicon (both are partly finished).
Emperor of the Fading Suns: Nova, Hyperion, Emperor Wars (in those mods graphical assets are largely the same, since the game is hard to mod properly, but most units and balance are changed).
Factorio: Space Exploration, AngelBobs, Krastorio 2
Master of Magic: Caster of Magic
Rimworld: LotR

Strategy:
The Third Age (Medieval II Total War) released
It also has Divide and Conquer modmod, that is much better balanced and detailed.

Edit: added more

Insert Title Here Strap Yourselves In I helped put crap in Monomyth
Left To Die is a criminally underrated, standalone total conversion for STALKER that runs on a fork of the X-Ray engine. the english translation is a bit dry, but that doesn't really detract from the experience.

Ashes 2063 Enriched + Ashes Afterglow. Together are well over the size of a 20 EUR boomer shooter and gameplay-wise are much more involved and detailed than the huge majority of boomer shooters.

Enriched (initial episode) - https://www.mediafire.com/file/z64bdy54j8wqdqq/Ashes2063Enriched.zip/file
Afterglow (larger sequel) - https://www.mediafire.com/file/8xxtt89t1g9s2w4/AshesAfterglow1_10.pk3/file

DN3DooM - rock-solid Duke-in-Doom conversion, gunplay and weapon feel and variety and feedback vastly improved over original Duke because it runs on GZDoom and there's much more animation and spriting and scripting going on. All weapons have alt-fire modes that are well thought-out and very useful, because you will be facing Doom-numbers of enemies with Duke arsenal weapons and that becomes problematic on higher difficulties, where the alt-fires are very useful.

Nice list, I will use it as a reference in the future, when I feel like playing some mods.

I think you can also add Alien Armageddon to the list, it's one of the big trio of mods for Duke Nukem 3D along with AMC TC and WGRealms.

Thanks for great suggestions, i've added a bunch of new mods to the list. Left out overhaul mods or modpacks. I'll try to focus on singular TC mods, if i start listing overhaul mods or modpacks the list would bloat very fast and i'm mostly interested in total conversions.

Rimworld: LotR
Where can I find this?

I assume this https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2242416385

It's not exactly a TC but rather a modpack. Rimworld is the kind of game you can shape into whatever you want with mods. Like making it medieval with no modern technology and with fantasy races like orcs and elves. A game like that deserves it's own thread dedicated to cool mods in my opinion.

Ashes Afterglow is #1 peak TC that I've ever seen or played.

Hoping to discover more on that level or close to it, but obviously if they exist they're going to be rare.

Good thread let's make this one a mainstay of the forum.

Agreed, this should be pinned. I discovered Ashes Afterglow from this thread and it seems incredible. Definitely looking forward to getting to it. Have you ever played Enderal? It is of extremely high quality. It is like a full-priced game.

Nevewerwinter nights swordflight
Nevewerwinter nights aeulund saga
Nevewerwinter nights dances with rogues

warcraft 3 -- the chosen ones, a custom campaign that was finished several years back. It's inbetween an rpg and action, there's no base management that I remember. Pretty decent campaign I would say.

Warlords Battlecry 3 -- protectors mod -- basically a bundle of fixes for the game that also adds in a custom campaign which I thought was pretty decent. Last I played it was still ongoing.

Alien Swarm (Unreal Tournament 2004, also standalone release)
Natural Selection (Half Life multiplayer mod)

Fuck I miss how much fun I had playing with mods for those engines. Keep up the good work

Warcraft 3 TFT - Wanderers of Sorceria (if we include custom campaigns).
OpenXCom - X-Com Files. It's pretty great.

CK2 had a number of total conversions, although the only one I can think of offhand is the Song of Ice and Fire one
Yeah, that one was pretty good.
There is also Geheimnisnacht - Old World total conversion, set in the times before The Age of Shit.
