I think it's a bit too late for that. All of the US media screams of how diverse and inclusive it is.

I want non-cringe writing and this being a small project gives that some glimmer of hope, unlike Avowed, Outer Worlds 2, and Sawyer Elysium which Sawyer has explicitly identified as cringe.

Miss Kate DollarHyde has to find her inner Doctor LootJekyll who is non-cringe, non-progressive and non-pretentious at writing Avowed. Avowed has potential to become most successful Obsidian's game so far.
'Is an oath worth the weight of a crown' shall be new codex favorite next to 'What can change the nature of a man?'

Their most successful recent project is a survival game. Tells you about the state of the writing team.

No one even remembers Outer Worlds. People don't even hate it. It's just plain sad.

Avowed is even less appealing. They have no one on the board who would generate some hype. They're actually moving in the opposite direction with Parker as a director. The guy is a pure decline.

What's supposed to be appealing about a game that got a generic fantasy teaser and placeholder website and then immediately went dark again? We don't know anything about it.

It's a first-person game made by Obsidian! Remember 11 years ago when they made a first-person game and it was good?

Rumor: Rumblings are the lead area designer (who I assume is Jorge Salgado/Oscuro?) and the lead writer (Soulban guy?) have both quit Avowed and left Obsidian.

I checked their LinkedIn, though, and didn't see any change to their profiles, so who knows.

And yes, feel free to put "citation needed" at the end of this, I get it, I get it.

Jorge salgado left Obsidian and join High Moon studios working on COD Warzone. Soulban also left.

Damn, look like you said all the truth in the past.

What happened on Avowed ? Who is the Director ?

I unironically like a lot of the Pillars music, even pre-WM. I don't know what the hell happened with Deadfire though.

Bell tried to leave before, but was talked out of it. Avellone pulled his linkedin recommendation because of it. Too bad it'd be pointless to give it back to him now, an Avellone-recommendation is worthless (also undeserved in this case).

It's because in Pillars he was evoking Infinity Engine music while Deadfire was Pure Bell https://rpgcodex.net/forums/threads...urn-based-combat.123213/page-184#post-5952616

Strangely enough, Soule said he's not involved in TES6 even before he was accused.

Maybe they'll borrow Brad Derrick from TESO or hire someone else. It's always better to deal with someone in-house like Obsidian did. Then again, maybe TES6 is still in pre-production and there is no game to compose for.

Justin Bell probably saw the amount of shit he'll have to write and re-write for Avowed under this management and called it a day.

Hmm. Justin was the lead sound designer at the studio, no? Some people on here might be pleased.

He was the Studio Audio Director and Composer. They have 2 new Audio Directors at Obsidian though, so they should be fine. His departure was always a matter of time since has been talked down of leaving multiple times (afaik).

To me most of his work was mediocre with some highs and a very high that is Tyranny's theme, everyone should get "inspired" by Conan The Barbarian OST.

Not getting much of that from Tyranny but I can definitely hear it in Bannerlord. The game ost that came closest to capturing Conan The Barbarian for me was Throne of Bhaal. If somebody would have told me that Grove of the Ancients, Yaga Shura's Lair, Watcher's Keep or End of the Saga were from the film, I'd have believed him. M&B Warband also came pretty close, but perhaps closer to some of the period piece epics from the 60s. (Spartacus, Ben-Hur etc.)
