It seems not even the agents of decline over in Dorito land like RTwP.
I have to admit that it's hard to get really excited over that kind of combat. Isometric real time is only slightly less of a turn off to me than first person turn based, two genres I just can't into fully, even if everything else seems good.

Looks good so far.

Hopefully the back beta gives us a sizable chunk to explore.

obsidian pls cater to my specific tastes kthx
I didn't realize good combat was a specific taste. :troll:
I don't want them to cater to me.(well, I do, but I'm not gonna go ask for a refund like some RTwP moron.)I just feel that in RTwP games there's less time to fully appreciate all the different classes/races/builds you create, which is something I'm looking forward to in this game. But meh, I'll play it before passing judgement.

I know exactly what you're saying. I'm just wondering why you're in a Duke Nukem thread complaining that it's an FPS.

wow, this looks and feels much better than i thought... i like the direction this is going in and hate the fact i'm starting to feel a bit hyped :/

will pillars and eternity actually deliver what they promised?
i fucking hope so, divinity is good but i doubt it will have lasting appeal for me (although the amount of time i spent with it might prove otherwise).

Neogaf morons are complaining about too much handholding (Because of those two companion dialouges during the puzzle)

You say this as if it was the funniest thing in the world. It's not, and those two companion dialogues 'here's the solution to the puzzle you just saw retard' are a fairly worrying sign of things to come .

But hey maybe you're the kind that needs the step by step for your average symbols-on-a-floor puzzle. Maybe you're secretly afraid that if this 'incline' stuff ever truly materializes you'll be *again* left to your own devices to solve all those STUPID puzzles the designers thought of, and you'll be stuck, and then you won't be able to find out if you can romance the hot elf chick before the effects of Ritalin wear out. yeah, I see it now. You obviously don't want anyone to know. You want validation from the Codex, but those brofists haven't been very forthcoming in your latest inane contributions here. Shit man, now I feel bad. I would brofist you if I could, but I'm just a Neogaf moron...

Looks like a functional game that might well be a fun experience. Kind of standard, though, and in that, nothing really spectacular so far. I look forward to giving the Beta a try; though just a try, so that I don't end up in the same boat as with WL2 that started to taste like I burnt my eggs. I'm resserving my hype and verdicts for the final product, so no fapping yet. Just... looks swell so far.

And being a bitter old TBfag, of course it would've looked better with ToEE-like combat. :smug:

So the guy in the IGN Gamespot video says one of the modern features is the story screens (CYOA). Guess the guy has never heard of Darklands. Probably wasn't born when it came out.

I prefer turnbased (by a lot actually) but come on, even so I would never want every game that comes out use it. That being said, the combat in the video does give a bad first impression. Hopefully it becomes more involved, and fairly quickly, as the game goes on. Really feels like it needs more participants to be interesting. Hopefully it'll be good. I can't say I'm a huge fan of IE combat but there are good encounters and fun to be had. Hopefully a lot of thought will be put into the encounter design of this game. I'm optimistic about that.

Other than the combat, it looks fantastic to my eyes. Certainly doesn't shy away from being text-heavy, plenty of dialogue options. The graphics are awesome, the CYOA screens look and sound cool. The atmosphere is spot-on, yes, the immershun!!1

Greatly looking forward to this.

They should really add what you get when you chosoe race/class/background isntead of some silly small blurb. And, those abi9lity points for chaarcter stats is gonna make characters boring. Your either gonna have alll pretty much even or one really high or one really low stat. BORING.

Otherwise, it looks playable.

I want validation from the codex?

What are you smoking?

No, , I find it funny because those are nowhere near examples of bad or intrusive handholdihng. Theres much worse out there.

Which said Neogaf morons usually eat up like nothing. Also Durante is especially funny how he now is all over Divinitys combat and before that couldn't rant more about Turn-Based during Torment.

Sorry, if it offends you when I make fun of hypocrits.
