So psychic warriors with a twist, a new coolish race (they didnt exactly brainstorm there but i kinda like what the spider implies, has potential). and some history that without a context is lost on my tiny brain.

Yeah IMO the player is a Watcher and their being a Watcher gives them a unique view on the supernatural event (which is probably soul related) and the player has to use their ability to see lost souls and travel to various locations throughout the Dyrwood/Eir Glanfath and communicate with lost souls to find out what the fuck happened/why it happened/consequences etc

Vithrack seem like Mind Flayers.
Maybe the supernatural event is what turns you somehow into a watcher, and you try to find how that happened and with what purpose

yes plz

I really hope the player isn't a Jedi Grey Warden Spectre Spirit Monk Watcher.

Damn, I was hoping for druids.

Ciphers seem cool though, a few abilities listed require strong positioning to work well. That, combined with the need to melee to build resources, means they will be very active in an encounter.

Class seems like it can offer lots of interesting battle tactics. I like it, particularly the fact that it is also melee oriented meaning it won't be a glass canon.

For once, make a spider/insect race that is not a superagressive kill-em-all bunch. At would like to see traders and at least somehow interact with them in a peaceful manner. Anyone aside from Dark Sun had notagressive by default insect race?

Nice update.
I'm OK for un bloodthirsty arachnid mind flayers, as long as they can consume brains when they are proveked. But they mainly given me Dark Sun hype! Need to replay Golden Box es nowadays.
Cipher sounds interesting but I hope combats last longer so there'll be some targets to waste after I got focus...

Am gonna miss the illithids, they looked the part of powerful psychic-based ability users much more than these insectoids.

They've never been considering it.

“The others are… as we have been listening to people, we are coming up with ideas. For instance, there were a lot of threads about an insect race. At first we weren’t really thinking about one, but it’s definitely worth the conversation. That’s how we want to do it. We’re seeing what’s there, and what people are talking about, and then discussing it internally.”

Yes. Sure. Of course we lsiten to the thousands of random people on our forums.

I wonder if we can use cipher powers in out of battles, like solving some quests via mind reading/ soul tracking( like orlan in concept art) or just use it to have some fun like mind controlling some NPC to attack guards for chaos.

I hope so, That will be really fun.

I liked the mind reading ability in Divinity 2 but it was mostly good for the extra rewards. I hope they develop more uses for it outside of combat.

Would be awesome if ciphers can get a high-level spell to mind control monsters and have them join your party. Also being able to attempt to read minds during NPC dialogue

I love the mystery vibe PE has. Crazy soul magic, mysterious creatures with badass powers, magical standing stones etc. It all feels very... Celtic, and this is cool.

On Soul Whip, from SA

Soul Whip's Psyche damage is short-term. It can be used with ranged weapons, but ciphers can only benefit from it at relatively short range.

Short bit on companions, just probably trying to 'unconfirm' that any specific character shown so far is in, even though the orlan detective is likely 95% in

Actually, no one illustrated during the the KS campaign is a confirmed companion. Keep in mind that I generated those character ideas on my own without input from anyone else. While some of them will be appearing as companions more-or-less as you saw them in the KS campaign, some may appear in a different guise, some may appear as non-companion NPCs, and some may not appear at all.

Hope there are more hybrid classes, id love some sort of fighter/rouge focused on high survivability/damage on par with fighters and rouges but without on useless stuff like stealth/tin-bucket-hats/autoattacking/agrograbbing(lol).

i really hate the mind-reading stuff when it's so overpowered. it's sort of like time-machine plots and its tropes. they never can explain everything and plot holes abound.

i really hope the "cipher" is severely limited in what it can do from a story perspective: they better not be OP archons of the mind.

Sawyer's pretty set on avoiding utility characters. Every class is supposed to be equally able to tear it up in a fight, though some might suit certain party compositions better than others. So you're probably not going to get a class which is both very high damage and very high survivability.

Case in point, stealth isn't specific to the rogue. All they get is an additive bonus to their score.

There is such a thing as Psychic fags, and they tend to make psionics the most overpowered thing ever, and its plagued a lot of systems i know. If used well psy powers can be cool, but i really cant bring myself so see psionics as a class, not seriously anyway, i see psionics as something highly developed minds can have access to regardless of background or training.
Only exception to this is how they did it on Gantz, only one that made sense, everything else: athasian psy, cyberpunk psy, etc. can go suck the balls of a donkey.
