The reason being to look at a visually pleasing character while you stare at the screen. Straight men enjoy the shape of women more than that of men.

Why not just watch porn or look up pictures of women? This just gets creepier and creepier as time goes on

Not necessarily. It can be. I like to play a super human/idealized version of myself who is also morally flexibile and not bound by the law. So basically, a power/murder hobo fantasy.

I understand not all players would enjoy something like that. I understand playing someone different than you but why a woman?
Well, it's different for a woman to be a power/murder hobo fantasy. In real life women (like cats) often use social intelligence to get what they want (if something is too heavy or technical, get a caveman or nerd to it for you). So I can see the appeal of playing a persuasive woman in Fallout, for example; just one of many different and distinct roles you can play in that game.

On the one hand, I always thought that guys who always played females vampires in TES games were closet cross dressers. On the other hand, isn't the point of role playing to play the role of someone different from yourself (although in current year that could be considered "problematic" and "cultural appropriation")?
No of course not, thats the most outrageous thing I have ever heard on Codex....and I engage in the Political section so I hear it all

Of course RP is not about RP, its about...its about. Oh wait I see your point, okay I take back what I said, its not outrageous ;)

But on a serious note RP means you can play any type of character or gender but its a preference. So for me I dont play women because I style myself on a Conan Savage Sword style personality which translates to CG, honorable, never say no to hot tavern wenches, always help a damsel in distress, chase wealth etc.

But RP doesnt necessarily mean you will play someone different but you can and people often do

I see your point but again why not just be a persuasive man?

Also in my view, women leverage their looks/sex in order to get what they want. I suppose there is an aspect of social intelligence there at play, them being aware of how easy it is to get many men to do things for them with very minimal effort on their part is part of that.

Idk, I was just one of those young boys that never wanted to play with dolls. I see playing a female in a crpg as playing with dolls at best.

It's not a preference for me either, but if you repeatedly replay a game with very different role playing "builds", wouldn't you want to play different characters, instead of playing something safe and secure (which ironically is what women tend to do).

There's too many interesting ways to play as a man.

But to each their own. Anyways I really have to get out of this problematic, toxic thread thread full of cis straight white mansplaining.

Oh as far as the cultural appropriation, I heard in future editions of elder scrolls games you will have to submit proof of your race in order to be allowed to play as a redguard.

I think there's also going to be a reminder that comes with the games stating those of European descent should make sure they spend just as much time on learning how to be an anti racist as they do on playing the game.
Understand that anti-west is functionally pro-east. They're letting you know who your daddy is. Payback for centuries of Orientalism. There is no inherent moral valence to this set of circumstances. It is what it is.

If you mean east as in China, not sure how they would be behind it besides inventing that propaganda machine, Tik Tok.

There's another group that you could say originates in the near east with disproportionate power in the media that is a much more likely culprit.

Yes? Same as I have sex with a woman, I play with a woman.
With DNE as. A lot of people confusing 1st and 3rd Person. Especially in the party games I prefer it’s more like I’m an author writing a story with several characters, not embodying any single one.

Tolstoy wasn’t larping as Anna Karenina.

I mean, being evil in a video game isn't real life. Being evil also often means just killing people for pissing you off or killing people to rob them.

Modern society doesn't see these things as that big of a deal depending on the race/sex/ethnic or religious affiliation of the perpetrator and victims.

Being able to roleplay as a villain has an appeal to many players.

No, mostly India. They’re the ones who’ve conquered us culturally already, though Musk appears to be pushing back.

The Han suck at it relative to the Hind, but even the Bantu are pwning your low-T atomized asses. That’s why you bow down to George Floyd and Lloyd Austin.

If you frame it that way, that you're an author writing a story with your party, then I'm ok with it. I personally have always preferred games where you can solo which has been virtually all the classic crpgs like the IE games and Arcanum and one of my personal favorites, Dark sun shattered lands. After a rough start, you end up becoming very powerful, very quickly and you don't need to pull bs/cheesy tactics to beat the game, you end up tearing everything up if you know how to build/play correctly.

From a roleplaying perspective, I prefer focusing one one character who I see as representing myself. I realize not all players feel this way and I respect that.

India has conquered us culturally? Care to explain? Not trying to be disrespectful at all, honestly asking.

They've conquered many customer service lines and it departments for sure. I love how I call to get help with something that is sold by a company from the U.S and end up talking to some Indian who claims his name is William.

Cool story, I notice you have a japanese style cartoon profile pic. I believe this is the message you and others like you are trying to convey with pics like that:

What?

What game allows you to rape children? For the record, I don't kill children in games but I would kill adults that annoy me.
