I think I could use a guide on how to level up with doffing because I rarely see any assignments that give you any skillpoints worth a damn.

Oh, and it wasn't like the Vulcan wasn't fishy either.

Yes, at least the Admiral kinda acts as expected as that Vulcan is way too emotional, it reminds me of the Bajoran infiltrators were its so obvious they are fake.

Wasn't "Ghost Ship" your preferred farming ground Norfleet or am I mixing things up? If so, be thankful you don't have to witness it going away... :salute:

Ghost Ship went away a long time ago. When it was announced, we spent the entire week basically doing non-stop Ghost Ship Farm-a-thon. Ghost Ship hadn't been a thing for MONTHS before they decided my...extreme idling and chat-lurking on the bridge...was somehow a bot. That's what made it so ridiculous, that I hadn't even been farming anything. Not that you needed anything to Ghost Ship, either, since I had perfected the Ultimate Ghost Ship Efficiency which had been reduced to about four buttons pressed in sequence. That made Ghost Ship far more engaging than the rest of Spacebar Online, since you had *FOUR* buttons instead of ONE.

So what you up to, Vaarna? Hear anything interesting lately?

Well, I finally dragged myself to finish the economically viable part of Tyranny of Dragons campaign with the last alts left, and I've planned for my next stage of slackery in STO after Winter Wonderland forces me to slum it elsewhere.

EDIT: Command Boff powers: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9052953-command-bridge-officers

Seems Concentrate Firepower MIGHT be a new replacement for torp powers in general, depending on proc chance. Overwhelm Emitters is also potentially useful.

Sooo, just to make sure I understand that right:

Command will be the 5th career path for BOFFs but thanks to the revamp it can be applied as another career to exising BOFFs. Most of the abilities cannot be trained/bought by a NPC but have to either be bought for an outrageous amount of EC from other players or trained by yourself after spending a decade in Argala to level the spec yourself.
The command abilities themselves will be universal, so you can swap any existing one from a BOFF for them (other than intels, who can only be used while the BOFF occupies an intel seat). Hybrid seats. Meh. I can already smell the T6 Command Sovereign on the horizon. People still flying a T5(U) are more and more left in the dust.:?

Am I correct about that?

I for one nominate Aarne and David to take one for the team, spend the rest of their lives in Argala and provide us with affordable Command abiities.
Dedicated Ability Procuring Specialists assemble! :salute:

Edit: those abilities seem to be tailored for group action, some of them potentially OP, but it may help even out the problems with elite diffculty. I can already hear the PvP crowd whing about Subspace Interception though.

I'm working on getting affordable Intelligence abilties first, the passives revealed so far are just no match for Intelligence's IMO.

Also, I'd suspect they'll eventually do something about the XP reqs, nobody is going to be left standing by the time another wave of new specs show up.

Also, gerren is my new favorite system patrols for getting skillpoints. The only problem is that you cant run it until lvl 58.

basically y spam F through some dialogue, fly a few km, talk some more, kill two waves of vaddies, talk again, done. Takes like 2 minutes and give you the "big" lump of skillpoints at the end.

Do they still have that Crystal Entity encounter? That was about the only single group event in the game that was actually interesting.

Not anymore, no. There's a new popamoled version, but the real one is gone. That one is a real snoozefest, since it consists of you, parking and shooting, doing something different twice in the entire encounter. Maybe. Some people can just tank through the blast on spacebar, so they don't even have to do anything about that. Now it's just a hitpoint-sink boss.

Of course, the old one needed the organization of a 25-dude custom group, since a single troll/incompetent could make it impossible.

I actually kinda like it but then ofc that's because I like getting easy fleet marks. With some +20% fleet mark boosts from the exchange you get 102 per run of the advanced version.

Also, I've read something interesting when it comes to ship gear.

Apparently +beam and +cannon consoles are better than damage specific consoles if you use some plasma fleet embassy science consoles.
This is because the difference between the weapon specific and damage specific consoles is in reality really really small but the weapon specific damage consoles will boost the damage from the plasma DoT.
Also, the plasma DoT proc that the embassy consoles give to non-plasma weapons is stronger than the +% bonus it gives to plasma weapons.

So basically, non-plasma weapons + embassy plasma sci consoles + beam/cannon tac consoles is the best way to get a ton of dps. This also means you can switch damage type more freely as long as you stick to the same weapon type.

Considering that the spire tac consoles cost 50k FC a piece, I expect a HUEG nerdquake if that becomes proven common knowledge.

Or worse, it becomes proven common knowledge and people start switching over to the new meta, spending tons of dil and fleet creds, and then cryptic finally decided to "fix" this bug, nerfing the plasma proc into oblivion.

Tbh it was a pretty damn obvious bug that would get fixed pretty soon.

Except for that [CritD]x4 rifle I managed to craft I basically just relied on cheap shit from the exchange since they all did pretty insane deeps.

Of course it was obvious, but playing ground missions as they should be (read: your squad killing stuff instead of being expose/buff bots) was worth it.

And was overdramatizing it a little. It was only a few guns and it payed for itself making bug hunt/dyson easy as pie. Aside from my phaser coils I haven't succumbed to the upgrade trap so far. I even still have most of the free upgrade tokens from the event, because I am not conviced upgrading rep stuff is worth it.
Also the bugs, like fleet shields loosing [adapt] and all that stuff...

There are ground missions you play? And they have a difficulty beyond "Leeroy Jenkins"? Because that's how I played them with the wife, we'd pull out our swords, and go, "Okay, on three." "LEEROY JENKINS!".

Bug hunt is an elite advanced (we are pussies) ground STF drakron forced me to play, getting zerged by bugs. Real bugs, not technical bugs. Dealing double dmg always helps.
Craptic's wonky levelscaling after lvl55 raised the diffculty in general, so against vagwarts in the Derpa Quadrant, even the best rep shield is only good for one, maybe two hits. Shotgun toting enemies with bloated hitpoints charging at you, or outright spawning behind you, and all that stuff.
The nukara sword is oldfag now, real pros use cockrane's shotgun and the undine armor these days, dealing physical dmg (undine armor adds another 30%), and even that is a pain against those bulletsponges.

I wonder if an IGE run with swords is still possiburu or would end up in a horrible trainwreck.

Yeah, I hear that shotgun is a really awesome weapon, combining the best type of gun (shotguns) with shield-ignoring damage. The impossibility of ever getting it again sort of kills any possibility of ever bothering to return to play the game now, even if I did somehow manage to get unblocked. At least Eggy Friend remains Best Friend. Should be worth a few more pictures of Ben Franklin the next time I drop by to pawn off those Mushroom Basestar packs I acquired. Better than pictures of Q!

What's Drakron up to, anyway?
