Well S7 it on it's way...SO much hand-wringing going on at the STO forums right now...jesus people are such fucking WHINERS. It's annoying.

My interpretation of the dilithium and doff changes boil down to the devs making the game slightly less easy-mode now. So you can't do your 1-minute officer reports and your 5-minute B'tran cluster missions for your daily dilithium infusion? And now it's going to take longer to build up your doff pool because the conversion costs are going up? Cry me a goddamn river. The ones who seem to bitch the most are the F2Pers. A common argument now is that PWE is pushing people towards buying the c-store doff packs. Yes, they are. The changes they're making are going to encourage the impatient among us to buy doff packs, but they're not forcing it on anyone. Why is this such a surprise? You mean PWE actually needs STO to make money somehow in order to justify it as a going concern? The devs aren't working on all of this for FREE? Holy shit what a revelation!

Rant off. Very excited to see the changes tonight, I'll be heading straight for "Mine Trap" to kill me some vampires. Looking forward to seeing Drakron's Vesta in action as well!

Well, the only bummer for me was the change to Daily Officer Reports, it was a very good thing for our small Fleet to be able to make 50 Marks per alt. Oh well, we've still got Valkar and his huge CXP output.

There's also info floating around now that another new ship is being introduced in S7 along with the Vesta, but Cryptic isn't making any official announcement about it. They're going to let the players discover it for themselves.

I fervently hope it's something for the KDF, so Klink players will SHUT UP about how the Fed always gets all the cool toys.

EDIT: NM, they confirmed it's going to be another Fed ship. Not saying what, just that it's not the Ambassador.

And it's the Steamrunner.

Downloading patch. I'm 41 now and intend to reach VA this night.

I've read the release notes and most of the changes they made make a lot of sense. A couple of their UI convenience improvements are also very welcome.

Not psyched much about the new ship though; also, it'll make more (somewhat substantiated) butthurt at the boards that they forgot about cruisers again and introduce ships that take over their supposed roles instead.

Well...they've been saying that the Ambassador class will be introduced on or before S8, and that will definitely be a cruiser. The Galaxy needs a do-over as well. It's already been retrofitted once, but it's still one of the biggest jokes in the game. Love or hate the design of the Galaxy, there's no denying that it's one of the most recognizable ships in all of Star Trek and it's really unfortunate that it's such a loser of a ship in STO. The KDF really is owed some love, too. I still haven't gotten around to creating a Klink toon, but I can definitely sympathize with frustrated KDF players when every new ship introduced is something for Starfleet.

Well, generally the problem with KDF and ships is that for a while now it's really just been Feds catching up to the average ship quality the KDF enjoys.

The SF might get more love because the player numbers seem to be much, much larger. I have a KDF character I use for farming assignments and dailies and the numbers and at any given moment in time there seems to be, like, 20 times less players flying around qo'nos than around sol and sirius sector. Then again, it's a vicious circle.

EDIT: The servers seem really strained. I've been downloading this patch for about an hour and still am around 60%. Last week I've downloaded a patch of comparable size in around 20-30 minutes.

To be fair, just about every Klingon ship that exists in canon has already been made, and to create a new one is basically asspull. Only thing we have yet to see is the K'Vort, and that's basically just a giant BoP. I imagine it'd be something like an Eng-heavy Raptor with battle cloak. Wouldn't mind seeing some Gorn, either.

Of course, this new ship basically offers the Feds help in the one area they don't need it, since Feds already enjoy Escort superiority over Kli. An undeniably sexy ship, though.

Me and Drakron tested the Vesta. Conclusion is that it's a great ship, in my case replacing my Sovereign Refit thanks to the combination of death ray (it's REALLY damn good), good tanking capability, turning, and how well Dual Beams + Turrets build works out.

Most expensive doffs in Exchange: EMH@1200 Tech@15 Assault@8 Sec&Ref@7 Biochem, Counselor, Doc, Medic, Research Lab, Shield DO @ 6. Cheapest is entertainer at .7. Thati s in 10k EC.
What is the ship with most weapons slots? Is a kinetic weapons build viable. Does Pen help? Like 40% pen torps 2 80% pen mines for a torp every 2s and a mine every 12?

They could pull out the old FASA designs. M:
But most of the old FASA designs were variants on the traditional BoPs or K'tingas, unless you want a D5, C8+, or one of the B-series, all of which are superceded by the TNG-designs anyway. Besides, there's no way they could do a B-11K justice. The Bortas is at best comparable to a C8/9 or C10.

D5 is one of the looks for one of the endgame Battlecruisers anyway.

Anyway, the Vesta (Aventine class) test loadout:

Stuff: 2 x Dual Phaser Beams, 3 x Phaser Turrets, Photon Torpedo, full Vesta console set, Borg console, Temporal Console, EPS Regulator, Field Generator, 3 x Phaser Relay, MACO XI set

Boffs: Beam Overload I, Beam Overload II, Tactical Team (with doffs), 2 x RSP I, Aux2SIF II, 2 x EPTS, Hazard Emitters I, TSS I, Gravity Well I, Gravity Well II

Only alternatives to test are the Cannon loadout (combo's going to be Quad + Aux DHC), and the 5 x Beam broadside with Wide Angle Quantum Torp.

I have yet to see a Vesta in game, which is strange because I assumed they were going to be everywhere. I have seen several Steamrunners, imho that thing is definitely in the running for ugliest starship design ever.

As far as s7 goes, I'm really liking what I've seen so far overall. The rep system seems cool, I like how it's going to allow for further character customization. I got pant'sed in my first run of Hive Onslaught Elite. My PUG made it to the final 2 unimatrix ships but couldn't take them down. Each of us got blown up 20+ times and then someone ragequit, causing the rest of us to call it a day. Mine Trap is really fun, it's like a Star Trek version of night of the living dead and the salt vampires look great. Azure Nebula is...odd. Seems a bit bugged, too. We had to "free" the Romulan ships multiple times before the system would register that they'd been released. And Tholians are moving to the top of my list as most annoying enemies. They don't do much damage but if they're not putting you in a web they're taking out your power.

Its currently 10 bucks on Steam for a 2 ship pack, granted its a starter ship but it also a VA ship and those go for 2500 Zen, I am going to get it too because I have some money on my Steam wallet.

Edit:

Here are the stats in STO wiki.

Tactical: Cmdr, Lt Cmdr
Engineering: Lt., Lt
Science: Ensign.

Weapons 4/2
Hull: 34,500
Shield Modifier: 1
Turn Rate: 16

So we have a Eng heavy escort thanks to its two Lt. stations, a higher Shield Modifier (cruiser strength), little science and one less rear weapon that is pretty much the drawback of the ship, its pretty close to the Bug ship but the Bug have those two Lt. stations as universal and 4/3 and more impulse power but you can pull some of the tricks that can be pulled in the Bug on this one.

Anyway ...

I dont like they removed Dilithium rewards from STFs, this is a mistake that will show its ugly head 3-4 months from now.

Also I was saying the Aux DHC were 0 drain but the odd things happened when I decided to test the Tactical hull on my Science character ... it had drain, now the Tactical Vesta have +5 to weapons and +10 to Aux and I was running with a Sci instead of a Eng on a Science Hull so I am not sure why no drain in one but drain in the other.

Agree. Did they ever say that was planned as part of the release, like they did with b'tran? I don't remember seeing it, maybe it was unintentional and they're going to back it out? We can hope. Despite what I said about b'tran yesterday, I do think that if this is going to be such a dilithium-dependent game, the devs need to add more ways for players to earn it. Not necessarily super-easy ways like the quickie foundry stuff or 5-minute exploration missions, but there need to be more options for people to choose from. Hardly any of the pve missions available right now offer dil as a reward.

Nah, I don't think its bugged. There are 3 beams so 3 disables.
