So did anyone take advantage of the sale over the weekend to buy themselves a shiny new ship?

IIRC, Fens got himself a Heavy Escort Carrier. Could have been someone else, but a HEC was removed from an inventory by someone.

i wish it could... this being a space game and all... but no, it flies to a point of interest and begins its little dance, which sometimes attracts other bees and other times gets ignored completely

been playing starbase blockade with pugs yesterday

Incidentally, I'm starting to feel a bit depressed about how much better my Vesta is than any of my cruisers.

Heh...I would've jumped all over that ship had it been included in the sale. As it is, I bought a Regent on impulse and I'm already feeling buyer's remorse. It's pretty to be sure, but I already have an Excelsior-R, and the Regent is just more of the same in terms of play style. The wide-angle torp is nice but it stinks you can only equip one. Do you use the metreon canister on your Regent, Vaarna? I was trying to determine whether I should include it on my build. I'm assuming you'd use it as a sort of mine? Do your teammates get affected by the blast if they happen to be near when you ignite the gas?

I used the Metreon Canister quite a bit, it's a good console for STFs. And I didn't use it as a mine, more like a precision bomb at a Cube or a Gate.

And as far as I know, it doesn't have friendly fire.

I still think the Regent is the best cruiser though, I prefer it to the Odyssey due to the boff layout and higher base turn rate.

Well they rolled out the Fleet version of the Assault Cruiser, its T5 Shipyard so we kinda fucked if we want one.

Other ships are the Excelsior, Varanus and B'rel, we can actually buy Fleet Excelsior but its 5 Ship Modules (1 with discount) but the others are out of reach, the Varunus is T3 and the B'rel is T5 (also 5 Ship Modules) but I am not interested in the B'rel since it got a 4th Eng console.

So what are the slots and stats on the Fleet Excelsior and the Fleet AC?

The 4th Eng Console isn't really awesome, but it does sort of give you a console back by freeing up an existing slot you were probably stuffing your other Uni consoles into.

And yeah, it would be nice to see movement Klinkside again. Unfortunately I'm a bit dilithium-flat at the moment, as my income has basically imploded with the inability to run with my usual groups, and once I flatline and can no longer even pay upkeep out of reserves, it's game over and we're out.

Below stolen from a post on the STO forum. It's really unfortunate the fleet Excelsior still has that useless 3rd Eng slot. They should've converted that to a uni. I may upgrade anyway since I'll get the discount.

fleet excelsior 42900 hull, 1.1 shield mod, same stations, 4 tac consoles

fleet sov 42900 hull, 1.1 shield mod, regent stations, 4 tac consoles

fleet brel 24750 hull, shield mod .88, 4 eng consoles. yes, it has enhanced BC. 4 eng? really?

fleet varanus- 31350 hull, 1.32 shield mod, 11 turn, same ens eng, 3rd tac console. a 5th sci would have been nice, like the fleet deap spac3

T5 ships dont get diferent BO layout on their fleet versions.

Besides if the Fleet Excelsior got that Eng as Universal we know were it would be put (Tactical) meaning we would pretty much have a Fleet Soverign except with better turning, not that it matters since the Fleet Soverign is out of reach for most players, I do feel the shipyard system is backwards as newer ships would require the lowest Tier requirement as the older ships should require the highest tier requirements, I suspect this was done to cut amount of people that would have access to the discount and also to force people into Megafleets ... neither seem to had worked.

Edit: Delayed patch ... dont anyone expect to see me before Monday as in no fucking way I play on the Dur Dur Weekend.

Interesting that you bring this up, drakron, because the only other fleet member I've seen in days has been Slop. Are you all playing less right now or am I just getting online at the wrong times?

Well, I've got my usual 1-3 hours (which is longer if people start showing up) daily that I'm starting anytime now.

Incidentally, I don't like the new Starbase featured project.

I think you're way ahead of me in terms of timezone, aren't you, Vaarna? I'm on the US east coast. You're usually online while I'm still stuck at work (like right now!).

And yes, agree with you on the new featured project. I was actually surprised to see we got the dance floor. With dil being stretched so thin these days I can think of much better ways to spend 200k of it.

We are kinda on diferent timezones, I suppose I am on Vaarna's timezone more or less but we have different play schedules (I usually pay well into the night).

I am playing lot less because the only thing I have to do is the Reputation projects, since the upcoming changes cut time and costs in half and also award some dilithium I have exactly 0 incentive to do then, before there was STF grind but that is over and in New Romulus if you done then once you pretty much done then all, I suppose there is the gerbil raising but it pays like shit, its another fucking pet and its another grind.

As the Featured Sinks, Fed is meh but I think the KDF is actually neat looking ... oh well, perhaps we get 3-4 more of these overpriced vanity projects and they go into re-run.

Yes but in a way I think the KDF piece would also diminish the whole seedy strip club thing we've got going on there.

In general I just wish people would focus 100% of their effort on the Embassy, not the Starbase proper.

I admit the Embassy is one of the S7 features I've pretty much ignored so far. That and New Romulus, I haven't visited the planet itself yet, though I have been in the area doing plenty of Admiral Bitchface's Tau Dewa patrol missions for my daily mark infusion. I'll start contributing to the Embassy next time I'm logged on.

I do everything on New Romulus once, just to say I've done it. At least, it's a nice-looking place.

Today I'm going to be online a bit longer, since I decided to get all the Marks I still need for Cutting Beam and Romulan Console through Mine Trap.

Please do forgive me but could someone inform me of the changes the game did go through since I was last there? Is there new content to explore? Did they release new episodes? Is it to sell duty officers on the exchange still a gold mine? I was last there around the time they did release the Tholian ships and the pet spiders.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

- Doff selling has gotten more difficult due to increased dilithium costs for converting them to higher rank. General Recruitment now costs 1000 Dilithium.
- Currently Daily Officer Reports are unavailable, and Cryptic's intention was to change how they work, which is sure to cause an uproar.
- Random STF gear drops are gone, replaced by the new Reputation System which is akin to a mixture of assignments and Fleet projects.
- Nowadays you only need to run a single Infected Space Elite per day to progress towards STF gear in the Reputation System.
- Romulan Reputation similarly requires only a single daily mission to have surplus, Tau Dewa Patrol which can be done by simply repeating the fast and easy Acamar System.
- Currently the best way to make money seems to be Prototype Consoles, which means more work is put into getting the necessary Particle Traces first, but this is easily combod with getting Alien Artifacts through Explore Ruins assignments.
- All previous STF gear has been moved to the Reputation system's store. With the way it's shaping up to be, it takes around a month of casual effort (excess effort is generally just needed for pieces, not getting higher Reputation) to gain access to XII sets.
- Romulan Reputation has purple and more powerful versions of the old Romulan Pistol and a new Romulan Beam Rifle (charge beam instead of split beam), along with the Reman Set and a new space set.
- Borg Console is no longer a part of the old Borg Set (the 4/4 power is now an additional 3/3 power), but a part of a second Borg set which consists of said console, a kinetic beam and a plasma torpedo launcher.
- Reputation System also grants a passive bonus on each Tier before 5, and a new ability at Tier 5.
- Fleets now have an Embassy to build up along with the Starbase, it's cheaper but currently the game is suffering from a Fleet Mark and Dilithium shortage so only massive fleets are working full time anymore.
- Lobi store now has all items available.
- Dilithium : Zen rates are at an all-time low at 118:1.

- The main new content is the New Romulus adventure zone, which is larger and looks pretty nice. I've done the rounds there once, and it was fun enough then, just not efficient for getting progression.
- Foundry is getting updated again.
- Two new STFs which feature the Borg Queen as the end boss, apparently the hardest pair of missions in the game so far.
- Two new Space events to the PvE Queue, Vault Ensnared and Azure Nebula Rescue.
- Mine Trap, which is by far the most fun thing in the new content. Essentially a zombie survival mission where you save Romulans from salt vampires from the original series, for 20 players. A lot of fun.
- Multi-Mission Explorer (aka Vesta) is the new triplet premium ship for the Feds.

I've still got that D'Kora and one Tholian doff pack as per the deal.
