They most likely are not. You as a new player probably have an advantage of not being the average PoE 1 player who follows a complete guide to the T without ever sacrificing a single brain cell for coming up with something own.

Or you just got lucky with the RNG of overtuned gear, which is a balancing issue.

i've been thinking about this while steamrolling the game

i think the reason is why i dont play arpgs, cuz they're usually designed for skill-less retards whose idea of a good time is looking up a strategy guide cookie clicker brainless 1 button meta build tping thru the same boss run 10000000x for a .00000000000000001% chance at a +2dps cocklock

so of course anything that offers any sort of resistance is a huge problem for these types

This is why you don't understand the crying. You should look at what is the campaign of diablo IV, how stupidly easy and boring it is, then you will understand. The main campaign of POE1 is pretty easy as well.

I did actually manage to get some use out of shield block on bosses with their highly telegraphed autoattacks, at least, fortunately there is no windup or wind down animation nor is there a cooldown, so it's basically just a matter of timing right clicks briefly before it lands. Can even combo in auto attacks between blocks.

Difficulty curve seems...decent so far. I get punished for mongo'ing, have to focus on some timing and patterns. Mobs are legitimately dangerous if you don't work them through properly. Boss auto attacks on the other hand are almost laughable against my warrior and I often stand there tanking them while I keep swatting at them with my stick to build up stun meter until they do their periodic big smash that you have to roll out of. I'd say it's a comparable difficulty curve to something like Dark Souls. I die occasionally when I fuck up and get lazy about using potions. Not quite as frustrating as DS though.

My stash is full of crafting materials, skill gems and support gems, which I'm going to continue hoarding until there's a good reason to spend all of it.

Still not a fan of warrior playstyle, currently revolving around stun > bonebreaker to delete mobs, mostly auto attacking against bosses. Really hoping there's a true melee class without absolutely stupid shit like totems, bells, etc. This game has a noxious amount of combo chaining and conditionals that I don't care for. Act 1 boss' zweihander has me salivating for that kind of a playstyle and gorgeous animations. No idea why they launched this without a sword class (or why you basically get locked into a single weapon type and guard railed playstyle with each class).

Rolling slam is not even worth a keybind on warrior.

I see this being brought up a lot as a criticism on the game in various places and I think I saw it here too: That the game is too roll spammy. In my experience rolling is not required a lot of the time and you're only gimping yourself. Sidestepping is a much better solution to a lot of attacks. I am playing a merc so that may skew my perspective but I have done a lot of boss-fights where I stayed around melee for a few attacks because it made dodging the attack easier. And only dodged when it made sense instead of rolling like I was playing a dark souls game.
Is the last boss at least pretty easy?
I found it extremely easy since most of the attacks are telegraph and the only thing that you want to watch out is your positioning. I was a few levels over the monster level although that shouldn't affect it too much.

at the last boss of act 2 now.

from the start of 1 i was playing with a full group and then with one friend by the time we hit endboss act 1, we got stuck there until we optimized our builds and skill use.

the difficulty randomly ramps up which makes the experience prior to that deceiving

my thoughts so far:

1. add alterations to the game - seriously, we cant scour items so if they roll badly its disenchant/vendor trash (lel)
2. tweaks to item rarity - ive gotten like 3 alchemy orbs the entire game, that's not enough to start gambling when you are talking about a completely random outcome with no base stats to build off of
3. do something about loot drop rate - friends have to share with each other to get those actual good items, since basically everything that drops is for a different class
4. range is still king, as merc i can screenwipe most of the content and just walk around bosses WHILE shooting and they'll miss most attacks
5. ...stop nerfing shit.

That special feeling when you click resolute tehnique and realize all the whiffs weren't misses just absolutely retarded hitboxes/animations.

Rolling slam is not even worth a keybind on warrior.
When you just upgraded the weapon and fodder gets 1 shot by "auto", you can use it to stun and cancel into boneshatters.

Using it with the "don't move" checkbox it's not worse than the rest of the shit skills...

They just wanted us to get immersed in endless fights with bosses so we can go insane faster than Sirus did. Took me literally more than 10 mins to kill the Kitava knockoff giant and the final boss in A2, and I've died to them maybe 10 times in total. Just total slog and unfun gameplay. The baboon in A3 is even worse - you can't sidestep his slams so you have to keep the shield up and just whack away his hp one attack at time. Very thoughtful, impactful (well he occasionally one shots me with 60%+ armor and 1k hp + es) and fun gameplay.

If your whole PC freezes and not just the game that is an issue with your PC. If the game froze you do not need to power off the computer.

I did that Giant fight just yesterday before being done for the day. With Essence Drain it took forever but at least I was safe from his attacks.

If your whole PC freezes and not just the game that is an issue with your PC. If the game froze you do not need to power off the computer.
Nah it's not the pc it's the game. I am not the only one, there is a 50 pages thread on their official forum with people having the same problem.

I died twice to the act 1 boss before I came up with the ultimate pro strat that let me kick his ass with ease!

I put on a bit of cold resist. Apparently that's too much to ask of the people in chat who keep whining about the boss being overtuned, etc. :roll:

The extreme opposite opinions I've encountered about this game kinda confirm my assumption. Some people say it's impossibly hard, while others are disappointed by the low difficulty. It's almost always a git gud situation when it comes to debates like this and it's tiring.

i cheesed faux-kitava in a few minutes by mostly walking backwards and forwards relative to its position (dagger attack would come out where i was 1-2 seconds ago, lmao, and thats the only dangerous one). melee is not eating good

friend came through, this will be insane with 2x iron runes (another +40% increase phys total)

Builds? I spent hours experimenting with the skills and how they combo. Shit is shit no matter how you try to polish it. There are few things you can do, with high chance of failure that do more dmg than basic attack.
I don't know how the various tidbits will arrange in end game, maybe it's possible you can get some coherent gameplay. But atm, while leveling, warrior is an absurdity. And I'm not talking performance wise since it's the first class I played. Game wasn't particularly difficult when i was sticking with the obvious spam basic attack 90% of the time. But I keep trying to understand what the actual fuck those designers were thinking, and trying various things and so far... NOTHING.

I tried to follow the little tidbits GGG left for Witches (like support that drains life of your minion to power your next spell or that raising zombies from Contagion infected corpses lets them spread contagion automatically) but it all breaks apart. Minions are super squishy and draining their life does not work often and zombies have million problems.
Eh, maybe at higher levels it all kind of works out :D
With CI I only need to drain 1 life from a minion to power that support, maybe that is the trick and since I've gone Infernalist I got the fire doggy that will be permanent free minion to tank for me.. I think I am also going to go Demon Form, it seems to be go to for chaos spells as it gives massive bonus to spell damage and all spell skill levels and also gives move speed and better dodge. And if you limit it to 10 stacks it is only -5% life degen that can be mitigated with Vitality, passives and some gear for 100% uptime in demon form.

So where's slow paced implemented good? Not even in Batman brawler games bc. they can't solve it.
On actual AAA budget.
I thought of this how good is 90's celluloid Batman with shiny flingy throwable drawing enemy attention and you don't even have such concept in best ARPG ever.
