My only complaint is armor and character design which are pretty meh. I really really hate female proportions here.
GGG sadly can't into female armor design. It's like as if a gay guy, who absolutely detests women, is designing every piece of equipment.

SSF is cool in PoE1 because of the massive loot bloat.

From what i understand, this game is a lot more spartan.

Picked this finally. Never got fully into PoE 1 but I liked the time I played.

Going for mercenary.

Hope is better than Diablo 4 aberration.

Diablo 4 has become PoE 1 over time. Base D4 game was even decent at start except the whole gather spender and cooldown system is cancer but lacked any interesting content or bosses.
Then they added some more content (of questionable interest) but turned gameplay into full PoE1 zoom zoom

my god this game is ez af and i don't even play arpgs
how are people losing their shit over this game being 'hard'???
they not using skill gems or smth? lmao

i think devs should give bosses 3 or 4x more health tbh

Because there two types of POE1 players. Old guard that loved it for being ARPG in vein of D2 and new guard aka zoomers who GGG grew over the last 5 years constantly increasing speed and cattering to streamers. Those zoomers never once in their life played game, they just follow some build and collect loot and that's it.

If you tried Ruthless mode in POE1 this is effectively Ruthless+ with major changes to systems and loot configuration. You can't use alts because there are not any. Chaos orbs reroll one affix/prefix rather than whole item. So loot on ground now matters a lot as you can't reroll blues infinitely for a good base. And rolling rares with chaos is super expensive. On other hand they made exalt pretty common so adding stuff is easy.

Imho it is interesting change and it essentially fixed POE1 worthless loot problem. Now when something drops it really matters and it could be instant upgrade vs threading the water with POE1 loot.

To be fair though, poe2 isn't as skimpy as poe1-ruthless when it comes to giving you loot...

Which is why i said Ruthless+, But it is much closer to ruthless than to poe1 drops.
I really like how rares are now actually rare. Blues are bread and butter and can be powerful.

My only gripe so far with loot system is rune system. It was supposed to fix build problems but runes are pretty scarce in my warrior playtrough. IDK maybe later they will drop more.

The beginning of Act 2 boss fight cracked me up.

I was getting stupidly owned, so I went back to camp, messed around with my skill loadout, considered what my best itemization would be, etc, etc. then went back and accidentally figured out that the trick was just to stay in melee range and the fight becomes retardedly easy. And it made sense logically. Awesome.

issue with rutless was not about loot, but rather gems. As result viable builds were very narrow

There's a boss in act 3 that's a dps check. Doesn't matter how much or how well you roll, if you don't have enough dps, you're cooked.

Does anyone else feel super slow? I’m playing merc and invested some passive points in movespeed as well as my boots but backtracking across big maps can be a bit frustrating.
Other than that very fun, I have some gripes but it’s Early Access and GGG > Blizzard.

It feels like they designed it all with people normally having at least +20% movement speed.
So far in act 3 you should find boots with +20% movement speed, and later probably even more.

But tbh they should have just bumped up the base movement speed so it doesn't feel like such a necessity. Maybe with high enough attack speed you can leap around more or something. Maybe switch weapon sets to shield and do the choochoo train skill around the map.

It's almost always a git gud situation when it comes to debates like this and it's tiring.
I've played through the campaign on two melee characters, one got lucky with drops and one had awful drops and little to no currency. Normally I'd agree but address the base drop rates and start throwing currency at new players in Act 1 and I think a lot of these complaints will disappear overnight. Fuck people on currency and drops and the complaints make a lot of sense. The only reason I was able to recover my second character and make it through campaign is because of the drops and currency from the first.

Also movement speed should be increased between where it is now and where it was in this footage. The maps are too big for this kind of movement where it's only fun on deadeye ranger.

I didn't follow the development, didn't read devlogs/news/previews/whatever, but did they really decreased the amount of loot dropped by slain enemies? Because my experience is exactly that, and I've read about it in reviews too. And my luck is shittier than it was in first game, so I have kill more enemies to get less loot. And people are saying that's a positive change? Why? Game became even more tedious than it was before, not only you get less loot now but enemies are more numerous and levels bigger. So it means just more pointless grind, for the sake of pointless grind. Because all I wanted is exactly not to get rewarded for killing multitudes of samey enemies for hours on end. They could've at least do a better job regarding the overall execution, audiovisual feedback, to make it more endurable, but no, it still sucks in comparison to d1-2. Like, I can vividly remember sounds, animations of monsters from d2 despite that I played it ages ago, but in PoE I can barely make out what I'm looking at 80% of the time. Also a number of mechanics and build options from the first game is gone (though I hope they will restore them over time). Witch is not as cute as she used to be, now it's some hag with awful mannerisms. And where the fuck are life nodes? Overall, mixed feelings. One particular thing I liked is the bosses, other than that did not impress me in a good way. Sorry for rant

Am I crazy or are getting a 10% penalty to all res per finished Act?!
When I removed all my fire res at start of act 2 I had -10 fire res. And now in act 3 I am pretty sure I lost another 10

Yes it's -10% per act rather than all at once after Kitava.

So far I think this might actually be my GOTY, which is weird because I didn't like POE1 and this wasn't really on my radar.

Basically every time (so far - mid Act 2) that I've gotten stomped, it hasn't been a gear or drops issue, it's been a fight mechanics issue that I had to learn and gitgud to beat. I've not had any real issues with drops and when I have felt like I needed a new weapon or something, I have enough orbs to be able to at least get a blue of whatever upgrade level I'm at which is enough to continue progress.

Great game, well designed, I don't mind the movement speed even (took some nodes for +10% speed, could use more but even there it's alright). Best ARPG since D1 (D1 beat it in story and atmosphere, but this kicks the crap out of D1 & D2 in terms of mechanics).

:greatjob:
