Just don't do it at the expense of PoE1 and the gamers that actually got them this far in the first place.

Isn't that the standard practice of the whole industry. Fuck them fans, we can get new ones and make even more money!
And in PoE's case, where are they gonna go anyway - GGG has a captive audience.

Standard way of industry is to deliver more of the same until something is milked until there is nothing left. Which is what people like Kjaska want and what originally POE2 was supposed to be.

GGG on other hand wants to address major fundamental problems that POE1 accumulated over the years. Like lack of melee, visual garbage, socket limitations that cause one button spam, archaic animations, overused campaign and general bloat of the game that has 1000 things in it but plays like shit.

Same way GGG made POE1 to address Diablo 2 issues. Like runewords killing loot, or shitty crafting (which in the end became another shitty crafting), potion system, skill system etc.

I still think it doesn't go deep enough but it seems to be huge improvement over POE1. For example three defense stats should go. It was conceived as "fun" alternative back in the day as it introduced armor/evasion/es but over the years it was clear that this was a mistake. That's from where main POE1 issue comes with one shots. Game can't simply be balanced around three different stats when two of them soak damage while one avoids it. So you end up in situation where game has to deal so much damage to kill those with armor/es but this means ohko for anyone who uses non armor/es. Then because you have mods to maps etc. that insane damage gets multiplied so good armor/es character gets scratched bad but evasion guy gets annihilated. So in response evasion was buffed and got layers but those layers could be used on armor/es characters which caused whole game to basically relly on speed instead. Just don't get hit and be onion with multiple layers of defense. And since you got to that point then GGG started to design end game content around those onions... you can see how by making fundamental mistake whole things topples down.

D2 imho has still the best arpg armor system and they could go back to it. Yeah it is simpler system and no doubt some complexity would suffer but it would fix that above idiocy.

One button spam was caused by the fact that pressing buttons feel bad in this game and stuff like stuns (extremely poorly telegraphed to the players) can make pressing 2 buttons extremely disorientating. GGG had a lot of chances to deal with the stun problem but never bothered to and in fact worked to make it feel worse. Simple changes like making it so that only certain telegraphed attacks can stun would have done wonders, yet that goes against GGG philosophy. Unless there's a miracle I have little faith GGG will fix that problem.

Nah, the fundamental problem is lack of sockets. Either you have 1 6 link or 2 six links. depending on gear you wear. This causes other issues where enemies, bosses, skills everything is designed around idea that every skill must be able to finish something efficiently. Same reason why AOE started to rule POE as with one six link no one will switch to single target spell vs aoe, they would rather buff aoe than waste 6 link on single target spell/skill.

If your foundations are shit, it has impact on whole rest of building and that's one of them. The idea of detaching skills from character progression and itemizing them was brilliant but attaching them to gear was not.

What the fuck are these people doing? We're getting Star Citizen levels of "the game is almost done guys!". Should have seen the signs when certain users started posting in this thread.

Also, what does this mean for the new PoE1 league? I'm reading around and people are saying that it'll be in January?

POE1 development is separate from POE2.

The reason for the delay is believable. Unexpected delays, especially when working with 3rd parties are common.

Having more 6 links is going to do jack shit to solve the fundamental problem. That pressing 2 buttons feels bad and no one wants to do that. Until GGG finds a solution to that, POE 2 will still remain a one button game.

Basically GGG's original plan was that POE 1 and 2 would be compatible and players can chose whether to run POE 1 or 2 campaigns every league. This is the dumbest idea ever for many reasons, chief of which GGG has to make people feel the game deserves the POE 2 title. So they finally decided that they need to do real work to create a different game from POE 1. Whether it will be a better game remains to be seen.

means ohko for anyone who uses non armor/es.
Not sure which game are you playing, most of the really one-shot-prone attacks in the game are elemental and they typically have some extra pen attached to them, so your armor won't help at all. Have you ever wondered why all hc players typically recommend capping spell supression first? Also, armor and any other DR stat doesnt help at all against degen, so even if you have 3 mln armor you'd still die in like 0.3 seconds if you step into sirus degen or get clipped by maven degen attacks/beams

It's cute that you assume he has played the game in the last 5 years.

Maybe he saw the light and switched to the superior standalone client.

Dude i'm not even talking about pinacle content. I am talking about normal mapping.
And yes they introduced yet another layer in the onion to fix spell damage going ham on you.

And it still doesn't work. as OHKO is still problem as it was years ago.

It's fundamental issue if your approach to defense is onion. Because sooner or later there will be a hit that will go right through that onion and touch you.

Sorry but i don't find enjoyment in spending 100s of hours per season grinding shitty maps to get enough gear to go for pinnacle content. And yeah in last 5 years i barely played it (and the barely is 100s of hours not thousands like before). But i do follow changes. It's not a rocket science to see how changes will impact gameplay. I'd rather spend good dozens of hours trying my own builds from stuff that i loot rather than sweating over numbers on third party sites like a retard.

Also i find it amazing how POE retards come here to shit in POE2 thread. Go grind those maps mate, maven waits for you in your perfect game.
I hope that POE1 GGG team will give you everything you always wanted. I will even wave you as you will be speeding up into infinity.

Goldrim is so fucking pimp, HOLY!

Perkel you autistic sperg, shut your damn mouth. I'm literally lamenting the lack of innovation in PoE1 while you're stuck idolizing a game from 10+ years ago. A game you sucked at anyway.

I wonder how many uniques they will transfer from POE1. There are so many amazing looking ones that had shit 3D art, especially after they broke shaders in one version few years ago that broke most metal armor.

I think everyone would rather do that, they can't be bothered to pick up stuff on the ground cause the itemization of POE is awful and has always been. D2 did a way better job at telegraphing the value of an item to the player and making them feel there's a progression to item drops.

Chris claims that this problem is fixed in POE 2 but so far I am not convinced it has been. If the odds of getting good items on the ground is still too low in POE 2 don't expect anything to change.

And in that picture you see the main reason they wanted to make PoE2: better graphics for better microtransactions.

They could have done a cheap PoE facelift for that. PoE2 is clearly done because they feel they can do a much better game, not some money grab scheme.
